Title: Hebrews
Post by: Ross on October 03, 2023, 04:19:17 AM
Hebrews 13:21 " - may the Lord Jesus Christ make you perfect in every good work to do His will, doing in you that which is pleasing before Him, through Jesus Christ. "
The summary of what has been shown through the teaching from the letter.
Then in verse 23 the point about Timothy seems to say the letter is written by Paul.
Some say the letter is like the history of mankind summed up for the Gentiles.
The letter gives the history of creation, the position of Christ  the future where heavens are rolled away, Christ gave the full sacrifice  He is greater than Moses, points out faith, discipline, the position the FIRSTBORN and angels, the angels different roles in the ages to come, we are to come outside the camp like He was sacrificed outside the camp.
In 5:12-6:2 we have the point about what growth means.
"Therefore let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith on God, of the teaching of baptism, of laying on of hands, of raising of the dead, and of the age of judgement. "

9:24 "For Christ has not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are a copy of the true one, but He entered into heaven itself, now to appear in the very presence of God for us."
Wow!
Bit of data there.
Did find something today I've never noticed before.
9:26 "But now He has appeared ONCE AT THE FULL END OF THE AGES, for the putting away of sin through His sacrifice. "
Could well be when judgement is in progress so that all are literally shown the truth and every knee will bow as they recognise His work and what He achieved.

Eph 2:7 "That He might show in the ages to come, the exceeding riches of His grace in kindness towards us in Christ Jesus."
Living amongst those who don't know Christ, in the ages to come, to show the difference of being in Christ.
That would emphasise the importance of the sacrifice and
what was correct: hence the final presentation before God in the heavenly temple.

I understand what you are saying here Ross ,
I cannot understand the point of coming in the flesh over and over again   for the ages when it is all summed up in Christ  .He made a surety that no one can boast ,because God the Father was always with Him and proclaimed always that all Glory is GODS ALONE .

when God says  where there is no law there is no sin, much of Romans  describes this as to me that means they cannot be accountable.  Only the ones who are willfully sinning that know the law and had no regard for the truth .
Because the truth is to set us free from sin nature by the grace of God as the free gift through Jesus Christ mercy to all .
When He says all flesh has come before me and destroyed the world with a water baptism and all these ages /lives were past till the coming of Christ in the Flesh to destroy all the works of the wicked as  the fire baptism .The Day of the Lord.
(Zephaniah 1:7?18; Malachi 4:1?6; 1 Thessalonians 5:1?11)

8Beloved, do not let this one thing escape your notice: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. 9The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise as some understand slowness, but is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish but everyone to come to repentance.

10But the Day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar, the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and its works will be laid bare.

11Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to conduct yourselves in holiness and godliness 12as you anticipate and hasten the coming of the day of God, when the heavens will be destroyed by fire and the elements will melt in the heat. 13But in keeping with God?s promise, we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells.

I have gathered many scriptures  in Isaiah and Daniel  that describe the consuming  fire. and in Revelations  the very descriptive of JESUS CHRIST is that fire as a surety and purity of Gods promises  , for me HE is all Things as  the DAY [1000 year reign] the last DAY .  the only  HOLY ONE . to be presented to the Father till God be all and in all .

1 Timothy 2:5 - For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Isaiah 44:6 - Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God. Isaiah 43:11 - I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.

I have always believed that the reward of obedience  was JESUS and that  many will not taste death because Jesus did this for them already  on the cross and will go from life to Life .This is why the cross  and Paul stated I will know nothing but Jesus Christ and Him crucified.  the gift of salvation only made though Him alone .
and those whom will taste death will be made alive because of the work of the Holy Spirit in Our Lord Jesus Christ , the whole plan of the ages summed up in GOD  .
I say this because of the clause.  There are only 2 trees  , one was good and evil /law and the other is the tree of Life that Jesus would fulfill in Himself .. God told Adam  in the day he ate of the tree of knowledge of good and evil  He would surly die  930 years was not a day in Gods sight  but the other 70 was Babylon's captivity making the 1000years   a DAY of the LORD and the work done in and though and By Him alone .Those gathered in Him already as the given life .  Babylon is to be utterly burned up by Jesus Christ coming to save that which was lost . Babylon is described as confusion of the great whore of the earth . religious deception  though the beast she rides upon .   Rev 17 .

I know it is hard to explain in details.  I do not expect everyone to believe exactly the same way . But it is something strange to me how when I saw Our Lord Jesus Christ as a mystery  than seeing Him again as everything and ALL. There is when my view changed in a blink of an eye.  Each in their own order just proves to me is so personal no one can say what Day  or Hour but God alone .
GOD bless and keep us all in the palm of His hand  We truly are not our own or on our own . :dsunny: :HeartThrob:

Good observations.
The coming again in the flesh does not seem to be a repeated thing- just those before Christ, and those who didn't know Him: then they have the 2nd death. After that death no longer applies as death is done away with.

An Awesome Amen  Ross !
You said so much in just a sentence! Thank you for this !
First I confess I do not know everything and have a very healthy fear of the Lord  , I am in awe of Our Lord Jesus Christ and love all the mercy and grace He has shown to all mankind /Adam .myself included .

I so agree with you speaking about the 2nd death  it is a judgment  Of God testing all the hearts of humanity /Adam .
Our first Adam  rebelled against God and sin brought death to him , yet he lives physically for 930  more  years . It can be seen as a separation from God in the sense of an ought /sin as an  error used to indicate duty or correctness, typically when criticizing someone's actions  of rebellion as an enemy even or worker of iniquity. sin ruled over him and not him ruling over sin , as told of cain in Gen 4 , sin will increase  without the law in place .
I know that the flood came upon all that died before the LAW  was brought to restore some order to the destruction and rebellion of sins  nature and to teach us right /good from wrong evil ., truly the man of sin  laid bear in the scriptures for us .

These trials by fire are  spoke of in 1 Corinthians 3 and the two natures found in all born again believers seems to be the case . Adam was made perfect by God in the beginning  on the 6th day  before sin entered his heart though disobedience  . and Gen 2 describes him being formed  mortal  from the earth encased with corruptible flesh. as a living soul perhaps ?
I am trying so hard to keep this short .lol  and  do not know everything as I ought . But  you have made me seek and knock and I do want to understand the second death .So thank you for this .
not every spirit found in  mankind / Adam ........  is Holy  that is for certain . evils spirits do exist also and desire to rule over us making us slaves to the sin nature of rebellion against God ..

I now understand a bit better than yesterday about Pauls  struggle with the sin nature still found in him in Romans 8 , it is no longer I that sin but the sin nature still found in him/me   as well . This warring in our members.  He was attesting to  the  first born Adam that says the law is good  to expose sin in him and to put it to death repeatedly on his cross .  Showing us Jesus Cross as becoming sin for us  that knew no sin and tasted death for every man .  this was his anchor as a living soul to me .
and to show such a loss as a son of perdition  "utter destruction" was still working in him and  thanked the Lord Jesus Christ for delivering him from this body of death .  the law led him to Christ  and the truth and salvation Though our Lords  sacrifice , the gift of God .
Knowing this gave him comfort and some peace by the Holy Spirit still restraining  his sin nature  by bearing witness  of both the trees  , one judges and the other  sanctifies  set apart from the sin nature as or declare holy; consecrate: though Gods great love and mercy on him and  the  grace of God as unmerited favor  .
love KEEPS no record of wrong , but delights in the right things done .    this is short for me  lol
I needed this  , Thanks be to God for all help in understanding the TRUTH that sets us free  to love  with the Love of God working in us and though us all.  :dsunny: :HeartThrob:

Just imagine being resurrected, when you died during battle, and the environment in which you are now alive is nothing like anything you have seen before.
That would be a little change of life.
Then being taught the truth about who you really are and what your life is now going to be is quite incredible.
No wonder Paul says to look at the future.

I started reading some of Josephus history.
He points out that Adam was told in advance that the earth would go through a flood, and then through a fire.
Peter talks about that coming fire as well.
Paul points out about ages to come in Ephesians.
Paul also says about this being prepared before the world began.
For me this highlights the reason why we are here and where we are going for the future.
Awesome stuff really.

From the title of the letter ?To the Hebrews?, it is evident that this letter was written to the Jewish community. The letters that the Apostle Paul wrote was directed to the non-Jews (gentiles) not in Judah and not to the House of Israel. The intent of the letter was to encourage the Christ believing Jews in Israel not to despair because the hope for the Millennial Kingdom was no longer eminent due to the nation?s rejection of the Messiah (note Hebrews chapter 11 ? the faith chapter).

If anyone prefers to think of it as being written by someone other than Paul, perhaps by Apollos, by Barnabas, by Luke, by Silas, or yet another; that?s fine.  Who wrote it is not vital: its divine authorship and inspiration is. All the Bible is for us; but it is not all directly to nor about us.

This book is especially for those Hebrews (Jews) who formed the Israelitish body which, later, was united  with the one among the gentiles (nations)  (1 Cor. 12:27  Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular)  to form the  joint body of today  (Eph.  3:6  That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel ) which is the true Body of Christ, the church.

Amen A building  up of the Body of Christ from the head in place  down to the feet .  I noticed that in  John 20 The Resurrection gospel  that   the linens   were separate  , the one   for  head was already rolled  up [gathered together]  , I see that was  the work of Gods Spirit  already in place  from the old testament and those gathered with Him already [in His return ] and those yet to be gathered in Christ [anointing  for purpose ]]because  the gospels teach us to become   worthy to be called though faith in Him and patiently wait on Him in  obedience  to be further clothed in Christ body  wearing the [white garment  Bride ] still in this process  .  I say this because of Jesus telling his disciples that  to be chosen to, sit ,  judge on the left of right was already done by God in the beginning.

?6Simon Peter arrived just after him. He entered the tomb and saw the linen cloths lying there. 7 The cloth that had been around Jesus? head was rolled up, lying separate from the linen cloths. 8Then the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went in. And he saw and believed.?

Well I can see that the same letters apply today, just the same as back then ,  to anyone who has an ear to hear  what the Holy Spirit is saying .

Before I knew better and realized That it was in Gods mercy on all [because Jesus Christ is found in all called  and chosen  from the beginning to the end ]   He would call the Israelites  first , there is scriptures to back this thought up  ,becasue the testimony of Jesus Christ is the Spirit of Prophecy ,  that the parable of the two sons  Israel is my firstborn [exodus 4;22] 22Then tell Pharaoh that this is what the LORD says: ?Israel is My firstborn son, 23and I told you to let My son go so that he may worship Me. But since you have refused to let him go, behold, I will kill your firstborn son!?
Here is more proof that God sent His SON as a congregation. [head]   It is such a mystery of Jesus Christ to me !! wow, it did not all jive with me till I saw , By Him and for Him and though Him were all things made and nothing was made that was not made .   the very order of Things God has done , and the scriptures Jesus speaks of as ''all things '' .
a gathering or collection of
Hebrews 12:23
in joyful assembly, to the congregation of the firstborn, enrolled in heaven. You have come to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of the righteous made perfect,

Matthew 21:28-32. The basic story is of a man with two sons who told them to go work in the vineyard. The first son refused, but later obeyed and went. The second son initially expressed obedience, but actually disobeyed and refused to work in the vineyard. The son who ultimately did the will of his father was the first son because he eventually obeyed. Jesus then likens the first son to tax collectors and prostitutes?the outcasts of Jewish society?because they believed John the Baptist and accepted ?the way of righteousness? (v. 32), in spite of their initial disobedience to the Law.
This is why I LOVE studying the scriptures !   answers  , beautiful  simple truths to behold !

remember the  scriptures of the parable of the vineyard in   Matt 19 ?21Jesus told him, ?If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me.?

22When the young man heard this, he went away in sorrow, because he had great wealth.

23Then Jesus said to His disciples, ?Truly I tell you, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.?

25When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, ?Who then can be saved??

26Jesus looked at them and said, ?With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.?

27?Look,? Peter replied, ?we have left everything to follow You. What then will there be for us??

28Jesus said to them, ?Truly I tell you, in the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on His glorious throne, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

29And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields for the sake of My name will receive a hundredfold and will inherit eternal life. 30But many who are first will be last, and the last will be first.

the first and the last , Israel  will come at last because they were first called  , and the last come in first as called  each in their own order . as all things are possible with God .

Many cannot give up everything in this life , they say the love Jesus yet they are still stubborn  when it comes to giving up their will /desires of the heart  and must learn obedience though the things they will suffer , this is the cost
We see Jesus saying on the cross ,  FATHER IF THIS CUP [SUFFERING ]   shame of being treated and comely  so badly could pass  from me let it be so , but none the less Your desire/will  be done .

in Isaiah 53   became the lamb of God and  The Suffering Servant
(Acts 8:26?40; 1 Peter 2:21?25)  the work of God from the begining to the very end   is   the Lord Jesus Christ  still .  God in all and working though all as the sin of evil is being taken away in Christ the anointing and the appointing of His Word being given Life and death  though the power of the Holy Spirit  in all things

This is why we cannot ever blaspheme   the HOLY SPIRIT , calling things good that are not good and bad things good that are not good at all but bad , not knowing nor understanding the difference between the two .    God will separate and mercy will  be  triumphant  over judgment .  God is the judge of all things [He made ]   HOLY and good and just and true .
we wait on the LORD to make everything right in His sight and  see the GLORY OF GOD in the process including us .

I do believe the Mystery of godliness in 1 Tim 3 is at work now as we speak upon His name .

14Although I hope to come to you soon, I am writing you these things 15in case I am delayed, so that you will know how each one must conduct himself in God?s household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth.

16By common confession, the mystery of godliness is great:

He appeared in the flesh,

was vindicated by the Spirit,

was seen by angels,

was proclaimed among the nations,

was believed in throughout the world,

was taken up in glory.

Also  to me ,  returns in the same power and glory to save  all that is lost  each in their own order , as called in  Hebews 9 ?26Otherwise, Christ would have had to suffer repeatedly since the foundation of the world. But now He has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of Himself. 27 Just as man is appointed to die once, and after that to face judgment, 28so also Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many; and He will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who eagerly await Him.?:dsunny: :HeartThrob:

I also should clarify this part I left out .. ?

Jesus is the perfect gift  from above and brings salvation by  judgment against  sin /evil one  in His return to blast the man of sin by the breath of His coming.  7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work, but the one who now restrains it will continue until he is taken out of the way.  Jesus prayer keep us from the evil one .   John 17 ?14I have given them Your word and the world has hated them; for they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 15 I am not asking that You take them out of the world, but that You keep them from the evil one. 16They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.?

8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will slay with the breath of His mouth and annihilate by the majesty of His arrival. 9 The coming of the lawless one will be accompanied by the working of Satan, with every kind of power, sign, and false wonder,?10and with every wicked deception directed against those who are perishing, because they refused the love of the truth that would have saved them. 11For this reason God will send them a powerful delusion so that they believe the lie, 12in order that judgment may come upon all who have disbelieved the truth and delighted in wickedness.

Stand Firm

13But we should always thank God for you, brothers who are loved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning to be saved by the sanctification of the Spirit and by faith in the truth. 14To this He called you through our gospel, so that you may share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 15Therefore, brothers, stand firm and cling to the traditions we taught you, whether by speech or by letter.

16Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who by grace has loved us and given us eternal comfort and good hope, 17encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good word and deed.

James 1 16Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers. 17Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, with whom there is no change or shifting shadow. 18He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we would be a kind of firstfruits of His creation.?

John 1:13
children born not of blood, nor of the desire or will of man, but born of God.

I do believe this will be the many that shall be saved though the great tribulation.   though much suffering shall learn obedience and not blaspheme Gods Holy Name .

I can only say this , I fear the Lord  and thank Him for the Holy Spirit  to teach us   His righteousness and  truth . many   prayers to keep us from the evil one .
?25All this I have spoken to you while I am still with you. 26But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have told you. 27Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled; do not be afraid.?
we wait on Our Lord Jesus Christ .   come Lord Come
1 Corinthians 16:22   sadly suffering is how we learn obedience .

Judgement points out the mistake/sin,
shows the consequences,
then states the correct way.
Failure to comply indicates that there is not yet a change of values.
The flesh tries to change but is keeping a foot in both sides of the equation, just in case there is some sort of error.
Heaps of "ministers of righteousness " ,for me,  are what man is doing because they are still in the flesh whilst claiming a personal experience of salvation through some mystical vision.
They seem to be role-play represented by Esau.
Jacob, holding his heel represented spiritual crushing the snake.
Paul points this out in Romans 9-11.[interesting link to 911 for help , also Psalm 91:1]
God has consigned all to disobedience to show mercy to all[Rom 11:32]
To consign all, is pretty inclusive.
Each in their own time is specific.
Born again is literal- the point Jesus made and Paul explained in 1 Cor 15:39-50] where he explained the difference between flesh and spirit. Spirit of animals being different to the holy spirit we receive because of Christ.
1 John 4 is elaborate about the differences.
Many come claiming to be of Christ yet He never knew them- appears to showing that concept.
For me to live is Christ, to die is gain- cutting off personal effort and relying on Christ as personal growth an development.
The truth is pretty glorious and complete freedom: just only comes when receiving Him , either first fruit or in the next phase.
Dear sister: His love for us is immeasurable and never fails.
Growing in Christ is definitely the best way.
The future is literally like changing.
The calling does not fail.
Called according to His purpose works effectively.
May our Lord increase our wisdom through all things as we are trained to our divine purpose and position.

Amen Bro Ross , sums it up pretty well  The Word is truth   :dsunny: :HeartThrob: 16They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 17Sanctify them by the truth; Your word is truth. 18As You sent Me into the world, I have also sent them into the world.?  psalms 12;6The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

Citizenship: the translation from Greek shows an interesting concept.
- administration of civil affairs
- constitution of a commonwealth
- a form of government and the laws by which it is administered
- a state, commonwealth of citizens

Philippians 3:20 " For our form of government and the laws by which it is administered,  is in heaven from which we eagerly await a saviour- the Lord Jesus Christ. "

A government that is in place for the coming ages.
His will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
The significance of good governance versus bad governance is throughout our history.
Our entrance to the centre stage, thanks to Jesus, is all set for the next phase of development.

Interesting that when becoming a citizen of a new country we are to swear allegiance and know the laws.
History of people bringing their own rules and regulations, customs...into the new place of habitation has stimulated many wars by the future generations of people who want to bring back their heritage to their own time.
When my dad came out to Australia from Holland he left everything behind. This now makes a clear illustration for me about our leaving everything behind when we are relocated to heaven- our passport and legal entrance is Christ alone thanks to His purpose and sacrifice for us.

Amen Ross ,

The struggle is real , the more you have the more trouble you have in this life . Letting go and letting God have His Word  and perfect work accomplished  for all lives . When weighed in the balance seems to me to be  the ultimate goal . It is futile  to fight against Gods plan . He has this all taken care of from the beginning to the very end .
the wrath of mankind never works for the good  nor with the plan of God    James 1 ;20 Hearing and Doing
19My beloved brothers, understand this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger, 20for man?s anger does not bring about the righteousness that God desires. 21Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and every expression of evil, and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save your souls.?

We wait on the Lord  , this was one reason why I quit saying anything for awhile .   We are to prepare and trust in God for His return .
