Hi all. Gary's putting the forum on maintenance mode MONDAY. The TM site is being moved to a different server (hopefully better!), but in the short term we'll be down for some (maybe all) of the day Monday, and then might even expect some kinks/growing pains for a few days working out any possible bugs, but hopefully none or a minimum.
So it could be a few hours or the whole day, we'll just have to check in once in awhile to see if it's back up yet.
FYI, God bless.
The forum has a back-up mode already set, but it will be backed up for sure prior to the switch, so we shouldn't lose anything even if there are problems.
Thanks for the heads up James ....
Have a blessed day ..
Ok thanks. Thank you tentmaker
:high5:
:Peace2:
Thanks, jabcat. :ty:
Working again - yay! Many thanks to the staff of this site!!

Thanks you guys!
:dsunny:
cannot reply , where is everyone at ?????? :dontknow:
You just replied :-)
Replace tentmaker.org with 38.99.252.205
The DNS servers need to be updated/flushed.
Must be asign from God
:) thanks all
i've been getting weird stuff too...posts disappearing, getting messages that forum is still in maintenance mode...so i'd guess what i mentioned could happen re: bugs/quirks for a few days may be what happened. been letting karen and gary know what i've been seeing on this end, and it looks good right now, they must have adjusted something. at least we have everything due to backup(s), and the server should be better.
Ah , awesome , that last post slipped on though ,
It told me to log in again and in maintenance mode and could not see if it did go though ,
Working the bugs out I reckin '........
LOL I guess it did! :dsunny:
karen thinks connecting servers around the internet are playing catch-up, clearing out their old data so it will eventually more consistently link to this new location more directly...for me it's gone back and forth from being OK to showing back in maintenance mode.. :2c:
Same here James ...........
It does not like serving two servers lol :laughing7:
Tony has been helping me out , I do not understand this computer jargon at all ... Thanks Tony/WW !!
Me, too, folks.
Just could get on this moment.
Missed you all!
:tender:
I can see there's some disconnect for some threads with reply, etc going back to the old server.. but I'm sure the kinks will be worked out soon..
..some interesting threads up, so I bookmarked them..
Working really good now, better then ever.
:goodjob:
Hi Everyone,
Well, what I thought was a clever workaround to get people to the working webserver by posting links to the new IP address of the tentmaker site accomplished one thing, at least people who are in an area where the DNS has not updated yet can SEE the forum. However, I just tried posting a reply here while using the IP address instead of the domain name, and that takes one around in a circle.
The answer to solve that is to do what I just did, cleared out the DNS resolver cache in my computer.
Here is how you do that on a Windows computer:
Start > type cmd in the search box. You should get a small black window that opens up. Click in there where you see the blinking cursor, and type in the following (there is a space between ipconfig and /flushdns):
ipconfig /flushdns
Then hit Enter.
Now, open a new browser tab or window and put in the regular URL of tentmaker.org: http://tentmaker.org
If your area's DNS system has updated, you will now be able to access the tentmaker site using the normal url.
If you are using a Mac computer, the directions for flushing the DNS resolver cache are different, and may differ from one version of the Max operating system to another.
Here is a page of google search results. Look for one that refers to the version of the Mac OS that you have:
https://www.google.com/search?q=how+to+flush+dns+resolver+cache+in+mac+computer&rlz=1C1CHWA_enUS638US638&oq=how+to+flush+dns+resolver+cache+in+mac+computer&aqs=chrome..69i57.10111j0j7&sourceid=chrome&es_sm=93&ie=UTF-8
Thank you for your patience.
The sites are up and running on the new webserver and we haven't found any problems with them. Now it's all down to when the DNS servers used by your Internet connection finish updating, and also, then, clearing out the old details from your computer as per my directions above.
If you are still having trouble accessing the site after clearing your DNS resolver cache in your computer, please send me an email at webmaster (at) tentmaker.org
If a number of people notify me that they are still having a problem accessing the tentmaker site, I will make a tutorial video on how to change to using a different set of DNS servers, instead of the ones that are supplied by your Internet Service Provider.
Thanks,
Karen
Hi ed,
Thank you for reporting the site is working well for you.
The forum and the site in general should fly compared to before, since the new webserver has SolidStateDrives, instead of the old spinning disk type.
Thanks again,
Karen

Results may vary....
I posted something and got taken to the admin login page of the old server.
The fix:
At that page replace
tentmaker.org
with
38.99.252.205
EXACTLY that and ONLY that!
Press enter.
It works for me.
A second time I even got a double post, which means it posts correctly but viewing is wrong.
Just try it ppl. It may or may not work for you.
I tried the flushdns trick a day ago and for me it had zero effect but it helped for rosered. So.....
Yes it is working now for me and other times it does not work properly :dontknow:

hi, dear.. same here.. been checking in from time to time..
Sometime OK, and other times not. Says the web server in my area has not been updated when I can't get on??
I feel like a time traveler.......Never knowing when the portal will open the next time.
:dunno2:
lol , me to Dandi !! seems this is the ONLY page I can post in and it retracks back to old server every time
I went into my (chrome) settings and deleted all tentmaker cookies.. nothing seemed to happen.. for a while.. then I checked again, and I was no longer logged in (hooray, cookies were gone - from old tentmaker?) After logging in, the forum seems to be working for me.. I'm hoping it stays that way.. that old cookies were interfering..? :dontknow: hope so..
Everything seems to be working correctly, and that's nice. I wish my typing skills were as good - they have been on the slide the past few days. :sigh:
Hi All,
The DNS servers were playing a ping ping game with the new and old IP addresses, I think. So I changed some settings on the old server and that seems to have encouraged the DNS system to stop the bouncing back and forth routine.
At least all the DNS servers that dnschecker.org monitors now have the new IP address for tentmaker.org's website.
We're getting there.
Karen

Thank you all for your kind words! :girlheart:
On again. Hooray
Earlier this morning Gary said "Seems our host has to reactivate our c-panel license, may take a few hours." Over my head, but it looks like it's done.
Thanks again to all who help to keep things running here.
I miss you all when I can't find you!
:girlheart:
Gary has asked that until further determination, the settings on the forum be changed to disallow attachments and avatar uploads. He will consult with Karen/TecHelp regarding further decisions. A company has contacted him insisting on payment for a cartoon attachment that a member posted some time back, and they insist that even if it's taken down now he still has to pay. So this whole issue will have to be examined going forward. :( FYI, thanks.
Ok

Noted.

Bummer! :sigh:
Found out about a day into it that servers were being switched, causing/perpetuating the outage. Gary said there had been a lot of "techie" issues, but it looks like things are up, running, refreshed. Sorry for the inconvenience.
No problem.....but, I did miss you all!

but it looks like things are up, running,
Hopefully.
It's better but still not good.
When opening this message I got the same error I got for days (Server hangup)
At a second attempt it worked.
Possibly posts are gone.
I'm not active here anymore, but I'm kinda sure I got a reply to my last post and it's no longer there.
Definitely posts are gone:
"Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again.
A problem I and presumable others are getting when trying to log on recently. Particularly annoying because it seems to be a site problem but it makes it sound like our problem.
