Title: Distressing news :( Gary Amirault, founder of this website, has passed away
Post by: B_T on November 04, 2018, 08:53:48 PM
We just learned the news on his Facebook:

https://www.facebook.com/gary.amirault.1

To those who don't know, Gary lost his wife Michelle earlier this year. Apparently his great and gentle heart couldn't overcome the loss, and passed away into Heaven just months after that.

It's a huge loss for the Christian community. Gary had his unorthodox idea of Universal Reconciliation, and regardless of whether you agreed with him or not, he helped many people struggling with the concept of eternal and conscious torment.

While we're grieving for the loss of this great man, the legacy of Tentmaker ought to continue. I hope this won't be the end of our community.

Yes, I saw the announcement by his daughter, on facebook.

So very saddened by this, but grateful that he and his wife are with the Lord.

I first learned of Tentmaker about 4 years ago, and the concept of Christian Universalism.
On Pentacost, I will have been a UR believer for 3 years.

I so hope we can continue Michelle and Gary's work. They were faithful people, with much courage and persistence. They will be greatly missed, by many. The message needs to be heard.

"Here I am, Lord, send me!"

D.

I had been thinking recently about "finding" someone to work with Gary, to help him, but also to be in line to carry on the ministry.  Waited too long I guess.  :(   Had no premonition of this, just knew it was an eventuality.

I'm not sure what will happen to the ministry, I don't know of anyone with the connections/knowledge of the site, etc., who could keep it going as Gary did.  I will try to contact his daughter and communicate with her about it.  We will keep plugging for now, and will keep everyone posted if anything becomes known.

Sad  :(

So very sad. This is the only forum I am using. I hope and pray God will  help us all to deal with this loss and raise up someone to carry on the good work he was doing.  :crywipe:

Gary was a good friend. He would often call me and we'd just joke around and talk Scripture.
What a shock to find out Gary passed away.

Does anyone know if anyone has a snapshot of Tentmaker.org?

I just found this for tools for downloading an entire web site: https://dynomapper.com/blog/11-content-inventory/287-how-to-download-an-entire-website-for-offline-viewing

but I only am allowed so many mega bytes for my internet.

Hi Tony,

I'm Tentmaker's webmaster. Are you thinking of making a mirror of the Tentmaker site? Or putting it on a cd/dvd?

Hi Karen,
I thought it would be nice to put the site on a CD or DVD just in case something ever happened to Tentmaker.

Hi Tony,

I am thinking over how to make the site work on a dvd. I think it's actually too large to fit on one dvd.

If you have more ideas about it, please let me know.

Thanks,
Karen

The html of all the pages could be put on an external hard drive if there is too much for one c.d.? Although perhaps there's been a lot of advancement since I did anything with html.

It could be a good time to change any remaining "http" to "https"..?

I don't know if I would be able to help in any way, but I would be happy to.
God bless

Hi Marie,

Thank you for your offer to help. When I have a clearer picture of what we need to do going forward, I'll give a shout out.

Just to reassure you and all the forum members, my intention is to keep the site(s) online.

The issue of having a copy of the site on a dvd is that some parts of the site are running in wordpress installations, so there are no "static" html pages. The wordpress sections would have to be converted to plain html to be able to run those parts off a dvd. The other issue is that the site is not actually static html, it is actually running as php, where headers, footers, sidebars and such are embedded in pages on the fly when someone accesses a page.

As for the https, the entire site is protected by an SSL certificate. It's possible that there are some links to pages that are older and without the https: designation, but if you change the http to https, the pages  work with that.

I hope a lot of people are not going to panic and all try to scrape the site to download all the contents. I believe that would crash the server.

Please pray that does not happen.

Thanks,
Karen

I can't imagine life without Tentmakers.org.

I hope it can be saved. Let's all pray for people to come forward who can help to maintain this site. I am no computer wiz, so I would probably not have much to contribute, but, one never knows what God might call us to do.

Praying, earnestly.

Hello Everyone !

I was certainly shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Gary Amirault.  I didn't know Gary personally, but he was instrumental in my journey towards learning, believing and understanding Universal Reconciliation. In 2007 after having done my own personal research on  Endless punishment and it's fallacies, I stumbled upon the Tentmakers Website. Actually, it was the first website that I viewed and read from. What a great resource it proved to be for me.

One thing of great value that I learned from Gary's physical death, we shouldn't and we can't assume and know what's really going on in someone's personal life. What I mean by that is the following. Due to the fact that I didn't know Michelle had died this past July 2018 and that Gary was suffering severe emotional agony as a result of this, I was wondering why for the last several months he didn't accept my Face book friendship request. As a matter of fact, I was unaware Michelle had died until I read that Gary died the other day

Since nothing happens by chance,  this past Sunday I was sharing what I believe to be one of the best, if not the best overall article or writing about God's Sovereignty and Man not having Free Will By Ken Eckerty. I found this article at the Tentmaker Website and shared it on my timeline page and while sharing this article on a Friends page I came across the announcement that Gary had died, so subsequently I researched about what happened to him and discovered that Michelle died in July 2018. So then, through all of this discovery, I realized we can't or shouldn't assume things about why a person doesn't respond to us, because we may not really know what they are personally going through. Of course my mistake was unintentionally, but it was still a foolish mistake no less. Interestingly, while posting a comment on face book announcing his passing, I didn't know at the time that Michelle was already dead, but I checked at the Tentmakers forum and discovered this had occurred, so I had to hurry back to my face book post to edit it, becasue I mentioned giving out condolences for Michelle, not knowing she had already passed away.

However, with the above said, Gary's website and testimony has and currently does much good for many people searching for truth amidst this spiritually darkened world.

Ps 116:15

Precious in the sight of the Lord

is the death of his faithful servants.

Gary's faithfulness to the victorious gospel is a monument to reason, love and the glory of our Lord Jesus who said,

"If I am lifted up I will draw all men unto me"

and

"Behold, I am making all things new...Write down these words for they are Faithful and True"

I Thank God for Gary's legacy in the truth, and know that God will multiply it.

I'm in St. Louis area and didn't realize he was so close.

We are blessed to have had this operation through him to share the core of the Gospel message to many.

My wife and I went to the memorial service for Gary's late wife.  He was just like the Gary of his vids, and had a rather cornball sense of humor.  I just now found out, and am saddened, but I know we will see him again on the other side...the real side.  Are we too few to keep this site going?  I hope not... :gimmefive:

It's been about 8 years since I discovered this site and I came here every day for all that time until just recently not every day but somehow missed the news about Gary. I'm very thankful for all that I've learned the last 8 years since first learning about the salvation of all. Thank you to everyone here and someday we'll all meet and get to know each other.

For $7/m or less the site can stay online.
