Hi. I find the resources on this discussion forum very valuable, and have been looking at them for many years. However, I have this worry that the site might go offline and lose a lot of it's data. Just recently, Wikidot, which is known for hosting various wiki sites, was taken down for a few days by hackers.  :eek: Luckily, they had a backup and were able to recover the contents of the sites.

But it's situations like those that make me want to safeguard important information online. So, I?m wondering if there?s any backups of the sites, or for any backup experts, what?s the best way to archive this valuable pool of resources?

My first effort was directed with the Internet Archive (known famously for their Wayback Machine). The issue is, it can only archive 1 page at a time.  :sigh: And with so many pages, doing it manually would take a very very long time. Luckily, a lot of kind souls have been putting Tentmaker links into the backup machine for a long time, which I'm very thankful for! Every small step goes a long way.  :declare:

I was also thinking of using HTTrack Website Copier, but that only saves a local copy on my own computer, which would take a long time to upload online in case anything happens. The advantage over Internet Archive is that it crawls through all the links in the sites to back them up, rather than needing to put in each link manually.

Those are all the ways I can think of at the moment. Of course, I imagine for a public backup, content like (member only) boards would be off limits, but still somehow included in a private backup. Feel free to let me know of any other ways you can think of to archive this site.  :friendstu:

I agree...there's some priceless spiritual information on this website for example from folks like Eaglesway (what happened to him ?) .I've spent some time copying n pasting stuff in case it disapears and need to keep it up...after all, the EU website disapeared n I pray this one wont but u never know.

Progress so far. Here's a small sample I did of the first Tentmaker page.


Instructions (How To Use);
Windows: After downloading .zip file, Right click it and select "Extract All". Choose where you want to put it. Click Extract. Go into the folder and double left click "index.html".
Other Computers: Extract .zip file. Open folder. Click index.html

I have added a bigger copy, 100 MB, into the Internet Archive folder now. It has a deeper scan of some of the subsections.

I am still figuring out how to archive the rest of the Tentmaker site.  Errors keep appearing on the program log whenever I try to back those up. :Chinscratch: While I have a way to archive the Youtube videos, it will be challenging to compress them due to how big in file size they are :sigh: (as in, I could technically make it a very small file size, but it would be very blurry).

1) What was the earliest date that the Tentmaker site was created?  :dunno2:
The Internet Archive has an option to put the date, so for historical purposes, I think that information on there would be cool to have.

2) Between the license of Leave license blank, CC0 ? ?No Rights Reserved?, Creative Commons and Public Domain which would you choose? :dontknow:
Personally, I'm in favor of Public Domain as it would allow others to freely share the contents of this site. Currently, I have left it at "Leave license blank" for the time being.

3) Do you have any other useful Christian Universalist sites that you want a backup of?  :girlheart:
Right now I'm busy with Tentmaker, but once that's done, I'm always happy to help preserve other useful UR info as well!

I just used HTTrack Website Copier and it downloaded the ENTIRE Tentmaker site to my computer !..absolutely fantastic !..now I'll always have it !..thank you so much, Song !
