Who else hates winter?

Well- just what I said! I hate winter! It's too cold, the snow is overrated, the sun never comes out, and it makes me depressed. Personally, I think Hell is freezing!

  well I dont like some winter days   , like today we are having another Ice storm , its soooooooooo dangerous   right  now
  and it has been Bitter cold ,  7 degrees with a wind chill of 25 to  45 mile an hour winds!!  two days ago 
I  think this winter   well be  a rough one to get though .
  I dont like  it at all  :sigh:

You JUST named all the things about winter you hate that encompass the very things define it and say its FINE but hate everything that it is   :grin:

I love all winter days over 60 degrees.  And being someone that usually lives in the D/FW area, I get [many] more of those than days that are in the teens and single digits.  I don't wanna say that it's always warm here 'cause then somebody inevitably will run down here thinking it's the cheaper version of living in Miami only to find a dang blizzard (that one time!), but we've had soooo many warm to teetering on hot days during the winter during the million years that I've lived and have lived here 75% of the time that it's either always going to be proof of global warming or the scales of justice are about to give us one or two solid winters in the next 150 years. :laughing7:

If we had ten times the flowers, rain, and water, we'd almost be New Zealand.  Panhandle of Texas is about the only place that I know of in Texas that'll consistently suffer through these Canadian winters.  I genuinely hope that I'm not living on some type of volcano that nobody's ever found or known about.  We had a solid earthquake about a month or two ago that was less than a 3 if I remember right.  I never felt a thing, but some folks in Hurst, Euless, Bedford supposedly saw the walls moving and had to pick up a few things.  But I've probably seen less than a dozen days in my lifetime that were at or below zero degrees.  We have these punishing winds sometimes that probably is the great equilizer on our being about 25 degrees warmer than what some of you would describe.  It can be 28 degrees outside, but with a howling North wind moving at about 35 miles an hour that'll give you a single digit wind chill.  Not sure which is worse, actual cold, or cold that genuinely comes after you via the wind and just bleeds through your best attempt at bundling up with sweaters, jackets, etc.

Well from what Im hearing state side ,theres a Lot worse places come winter time Martin, ya Nearly convinced me its the Place to go,  till Ya mentioned those wind Chills.... :icon_flower:

  I always get concered  with Texas  when the tornado and hurricane  seasons occur  YIKES!

The tornadoes are sorta exaggerated.  It's great kite flying weather when we get one, though!  The UFOs are sorta the latest feature of Texas.  Spend the night in Texas, get abducted by aliens, wind up losing 15 pounds, can't remember what happened the night before, but oddly enough can't pass through metal detectors any more without setting them off.  People are flocking here for that by the millions! :laughing7:

Interesting topic, since I was just thinking about something in these lines today whilst standing outside at work. I thought to myself what kinds of gifts God would give if He gave us all Christmas presents (seemed a silly thought at the time) - Then God answered me in my head. Here is what He had to say back to me.

Each day I give you ALL gifts. Its all around you. Some try and call my gifts science others call it nature.

My gifts today were the grass, blue sky with partial clouds and later a rain and hail storm (beautiful), singing birds, a cherry tree full of cherries and right now I am sitting looking at the beautiful sepia scenery outside the window. Although we experience very cold winters in South Africa too, they are not quite as cold as those in the States (and we do not have snowy winters). That is something special in my eyes. Unique as is makes Xmas time feel like Xmas time. You are all very special and lucky to experience this. So next time you go out and look at the snow (we have an intensely hot summer right now reaching degrees of up to 38 degrees celsius), find all the gifts that God has sent you.

I love winter when it is snowing and do not mind the temperature when it's cold, but snow will pack.  I hate ice on the roads and for some odd reason I do not mind the cold and temp when it is snowing even if it is subzero, just something about the snow coming down that brightens my mood.

When I get depressed a bit is when it is just gloomy looking, no snow and just fricken cold,  thats when I hate winter.

 :cloud9: I hate winter. There, I've said it. Try as I might, I can't get past it. I hate it getting dark at 5 o'clock now and staying dark till 8:30 am. I hate my flowers died a horrible death, LOL. I hate it being dark and gloomy and having to sometimes turn lights on in the daytime.

When I was younger I thought maybe since I was athletic if I discovered something to do that way in the winter, I wouldn't hate it so much. One problem; except in rare occasions we don't get enough snow here to ski, and it doesn't stay cold enough here to ice skate. Way up near Michigan it does, but not here. So, I'm sitting here till spring bundled up with every light in the house on  :winkgrin:

Gets Dark here at 4pm...Winter is Normally gloomy, Cloudy , wet and damp plus cold...what days we get are mainly like this..with the odd few days Sunny with No cloud ,but then the Temp drops real low .

Looks snowy outside today , snow is Not to common thou..what we get  normally is  just a few Inches ,brings the Whole country to a Halt thou..we just aint prepared for it.

Last real Snow we had was In 1980...still snow on the ground in June.....

I hate how here in Northern Minnesota the winter stays so long!  It's okay during the Christmas season, and we were blessed with two feet of snow and liveable temperatures of ten to twenty degrees, but now it's just annoying.  The temperature has dropped to thirty below zero with even colder wind chills, making it plenty cold for my poor little pet goat named Ned!  The washing machine froze, the sink froze, and it's hard to be outside for long periods.  The only really good thing about it is that we can keep setting our frozen goods outside to keep them frozen since we have no room in the freezer!

Well, we're supposed to get a few more inches soon.  The snow is up to my waist in some parts of the yard and I love it, but oh how I can't wait for spring at the same time.

  winter is cold harsh and  dead looking  ugh !  nothing  growing in winter

  it is a dormant state [frozen ] in time and ten times harder to  do anything  in the cold and hard and harsh times of winter , i can barely move by  febuary  it is so dark and   bitter cold .....
  makes me think of this 20 Pray that it will not be winter or a Sabbath day when these things happen and you have to run away,
