What is the following chapter of Job talking about? Why would God talk to Job about this entity and say what He said of it?

After He said these things of Leviathan, you might think He is talking about a nile croc. But that can't be or the following verse would never have been written.

If we're talking a literal beast of the sea, then in some way that thing had become a burden and a yoke to the people of God (Isaiah 10:27). If we're talking about something Satanic instead, then obviously God would release His Anointing to bring an ubrupt stop to it's wickedness.
"The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Wages can be earned and gifts can be given at the exact same time, as we often see in many occupations around holiday and anniversary times. Doesn't invalidate either. Often the check will suck, but the gift above and beyond can be sweeeet. All of life is a process of receiving both wages of sin and the gifts of God.
On the beast issue, which I'm not entirely sure couldn't likewise be used equally regarding spirits that are likened to beasts in Scripture, we have Jeremiah 31:27-28 that there was a time for destruction in the past and a future time for building and planting. The way that particular Scripture is written, it just seems to have been Appointed stuff that had to be gone through regardless -- on both sides of that Scripture; the destruction and the building and planting.
Who is Leviathan? I'm not sure. He sounds like satan.

As far as I'm concerned, if I can trust my heavenly Father's Heart, then I can trust His slaying. If it had to be done, then it had to be done. As long as I know that I'm not Leviathan, no one around me is Leviathan, and no one at these boards is Leviathan, then I'm personally not going to worry about it too much. If Father felt the need to slay Leviathan, then something obviously couldn't be remedied either in the Creation or in the heavens without the slaughter.
And Peacetroll, can you repeat the particular verse in Ezekiel 28 that says that that description of either Satan or the Adamic nature is Leviathan elsewhere in Scripture?
The more carnal understanding is that there in Job, leviathan (maybe behemoth too) is a proof again that certain forms of dinosaurs co-existed with man.

It's fine that Jesus came and fulfilled types and shadows in the Law and Prophets: but, if that was all we had we would have virtually nothing. The mystery is how we are a part of it. How can we become part of the Glory cloud that rests upon the Mercy Throne? This is what Paul unfolds. From the tone of the man it seems impossible to imagine him a liar anyway; but, if the events he describes never took place, like opposing Peter to his face at Antioch, or the right hand of fellowship from those who were apostles before him, there were enough people around who were directly disciples of Jesus and built up on the doctrine of the other apostles to object to Paul sufficiently that God would've preserved for us a witness to that effect for our own benefit. The anti-Paul theory is incredible once you meditate carefully on certain things Jesus said, like John 17. Knowing how little people seem able to think for themselves, the grace of God operated in Paul to think a lot of it out for you already.

We need the occasional thread that goes all over the place to keep things interesting, recreational, and vibrant around here. Besides, this is in the Member's Lounge. When Mercy was administrator, maybe a third of the threads would do this. And if I remember right, we had a few more really active members as a result.
