We do indeed have the earnest of the spirit even now. But 

Eph 1:12  That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
Eph 1:13  In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
Eph 1:14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

We do not innately possess "the earnest of the spirit", yet that 'earnest' is all we have "until the redemption of the purchased possession", which is the spiritual body we receive only when "it is raised a spiritual body", not when it was a spiritual body to begin with.

"If there is no resurrection from the dead then they that are asleep in Christ are perished". Those words are a lie if we are originally immortal spirit bodies.

So I ask, Where is King David?
Act 2:34  For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,

Act 2:29  Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.

Originally immortal bodies. But what if sin destroyed that?

Not sure at his point whether Adam's Spirit died, or that it died from God, or perhaps another term, a dying spirit within him.

Maybe what God is saying that if there is no resurrection of the dead, then it is a sign that Christ failed His mission. But the resurrection of the dead is proof that He succeeded in His mission.

I do see your points thought micah and they are strong points, but for me I still see us as being a spirit beings before being formed into a living soul, just have not worked out the full details of it yet.
