In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void, and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said "Let there be light" and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good and God divided the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day.

Note here that this was the first day.

Then God said, "Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years; and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth" and it was so. Then God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also. God set them in firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth, and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. So the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

Now if God, on the fourth day, created the sun for daytime and the moon for the night, what was that light on the first day? (note He did not create the light on the first day He said let there be light)

For the answer go to John 8:12

I guess the Earth was created in Heaven and was then "dropped" into this universe. But I can't look back that far in creation history ... I believe in an old Earth.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was in the beginning with God.  All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. (John 1)

God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power.(Hebrews 1)

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.(Col 1)

Amazing that I missed this, after all these years. Not only myself, but I would think many others, too.

Thank you, Thomas!  :declare:

7"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8"For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened....

Also promotes that the heavens were made before the earth.

We are being trained to judge angels who have been around longer than we have.[1 Cor 6;2,3]
Before the foundation of the world this was all planned.
When we take out the temporary and focus on the coming, then the promises of things to come surpass the problems of the temporary.
They also make the living demonstrations of the tree of knowledge of good and evil fit together and make sense.
Looking at the differences of mankind only hint at the magnitude of the incredible knowledge and wisdom of our real eternal Father.
All awesome really.

The oldest known manuscripts agree with each other 99% of the time.  The scriptures, accurately translated, Spirit revealed - reliable.   Looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith.  Heb. 12:2

   the Prince of this world has been judged..that his works are wicked.  part of the mystery of iniquity....the man of sin

being revealed....corrupt image sitting on the throne of God..'showing himself that he is god'.elevating himself  above the stars of heaven.

corrupt powers and principalities.....man killer  from the beginning..liar and theif.   dominion was given unto Adam..under the

oversite of God.  that which is corruptible must put on 'incorruption" that which is mortal ..must put on 'immortality'
