I was reading about different schools while searching for where my kids will go. One area school is Christian and had a "statement of faith" on their website, here is a portion of it:

God the Son is the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the incarnate Word of God, Who perfectly revealed and did the will of the Father on the earth as a sinless man. Through His death and resurrection, in perfect obedience, He provided redemption and reconciliation with God the Father for all men. He ascended to heaven where He sits at the right hand of His Father. All things were created through Him and for Him and all fullness dwells in Him. He is Lord over all things and heir of all things. The Father appointed Him as head of the church as perfect Prophet, Priest, and King. He will return in power and glory at the end of the present age to judge the living and the dead; rewarding the righteous with eternal life, but punishing the wicked with eternal damnation. He will reign with His people and reconcile all things to Himself by establishing in full the Kingdom and Reign of God - that God may be "all in all."

...Do they not see the blatant contradiction of some being eternally damned...but then God is "all in all"?

How do hell believers reconcile this? Do they think "all in all" of those guys over there, the ones in heaven, not the ones over there in hell?

I have to say, the one consequence to believing UR is that I am actively trying not to teach my kids about hell, it's much too horrific (the oldest is 4) and it makes me hesitant to send them anywhere that might plant the idea of hell in their minds. Plus we can't afford this school  :laughing7:

Edited to add: I agree with their statement of faith other than the eternally damned part. But it just stood out to me that they quoted the "all in all" but don't grasp that ALL means ALL!

They wont read the verses surrounding either 1 Cor15:28 or Colossiand 1:19 which they quote, but somehow ignore or explain away the context.  :dontknow:

I believe the people running the school are in a cult. I suggest you never sent your kids to school.

Amen!!! I had hopes! When I read in their statement of faith "redemption and reconciliation for all men".. which to me means a lot more than 'possible redemption and reconciliation for all'.

:dunno: I don't know how it's so missed! ...tons of verses..!

P.S- I agree about not letting children be exposed to the hell teaching..

And am all for teaching them all about how the error when they are old enough for that.. children can accept logic a lot better than the indoctrinated.. I suppose about the church.. take the good and thoroughly explain the not good..?

Ninety-nine point nine percent of mainstream Christianity is indoctrinated into the belief that bad people, those rejecting Jesus Christ and those who never heard the gospel will go to "hell".  All the same whether Armenian, Calvinist or Catholic. Here is a typical "statement of belief" (also called "articles of faith") of one "church".

16.2. We believe that glorious and everlasting life is assured to all who savingly believe in, and obediently follow, Jesus Christ our Lord; and that the finally impenitent shall suffer eternally in hell.

Although sad, it is part of God's plan. Very few accept the truth that God will save ALL.
3 John 4 - I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

I agree GIL , that contradiction is the first thing that caught my attention when I read it.

I was once in that place, completely believing it was true, it took a hatred (a hardening of my heart) for my construction job to change careers .... to become a truck driver ..... it was because of that He was able to get me alone, away from that way of thinking

I now thank Him for that hardening of my heart

From my own background, I think they believe that 'all in all' means to be in charge of 'all', and thus, do to some of the 'all', what they 'deserve', which they believe is to be sent to hell.

I hope that makes sense. Actually, it really doesn't make sense.....if you know what I mean.  :dunno2:

For me it was never brought up in the studies .... don't know if it was because they avoided it, or because it just wasn't asked about .... either way it limits understanding

I do remember one time one of the deacons of the church said during a conversation "all means all" but yet he maintains his belief in ET, which I see as: people sometimes don't even hear their own words let alone the words of another.
