"The times of the restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets...And He shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto You, whom the heavens must receive until the times of the restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began" (Acts 3:21).
Meaning of restitution =
Peter's statement speaks clearly of the times of the restitution of all things.
Restitution, according to the best English usage, means the act of restoring something that has been taken away or lost; the act of making good or rendering an equivalent as for loss or injury. )
koine Greek = temuriak = restoration
"Now it's time to change your ways! Turn to face God so he can wipe away your sins, pour out showers of blessing to refresh you, and send you the Messiah he prepared for you, namely, Jesus. For the time being he must remain out of sight in heaven until everything is restored to order again just the way God, through the preaching of his holy prophets of old, said it would be." ~MSG
"For the time being he must remain out of sight in heaven until everything is restored"
Is Jesus out of sight in heaven? Do you think Peter was expecting a physical return? I'm not at seeing the present Kingdom of heaven as waiting for a physical return. Interesting questions arise for me. Of course I'm reading Eby's Revelation series, he's all about seeing Jesus spiritually in the present work. Jesus now is omnipresent with our father, is the a need to individualize him at the restoration of all things?
"We all must die and are like water spilled on the ground that cannot be gathered up again...
BUT
the Lord does not take away life...
INSTEAD
He devises ways for the banished to be restored." ~Prophet Samuel
