Question: Is the gospel good news for all the people?
ETer: Yes - IF you are a Christian, that is!
URist: Yes.  Luke 2:10 quotes the angel to have said that it is "good news of great joy that will be for ALL the people."

That was extremely well written! The UR belief certainly makes more sense than the ET god. This thought just came into my head today and it's kind of random, but I became open to UR at first just because it was so much more logical and made more sense than ET. You see, I'm an accounting student so I have that mindset that I like things to add up and make sense, and if they don't, I get really frustrated.

ET frustrated me because eternal torment + loving God equaled a bunch of hurt and confusion. But now that I know the wonderful truth of UR, it's like hey the debits finally equal the credits!  :banana: I have a good group of friends at my university, but there are many times when I feel like the odd duck. Most of my peers still hold the eternal torment belief, and many others aren't even religious. I guess this is how we're supposed to feel though because this earth isn't our true home.

This thought just came into my head today and it's kind of random, but I became open to UR at first just because it was so much more logical and made more sense than ET. You see, I'm an accounting student so I have that mindset that I like things to add up and make sense, and if they don't, I get really frustrated.

But now that I know the wonderful truth of UR, it's like hey the debits finally equal the credits!  :banana: I have a good group of friends at my university, but there are many times when I feel like the odd duck. Most of my peers still hold the eternal torment belief, and many others aren't even religious. I guess this is how we're supposed to feel though because this earth isn't our true home.

Hey, those non-religious friends are probably better off than the ETers in this life, because IMO they are more likely to embrace the truth at some point in their lives than the ETers.

We agree about universal reconciliation (Colossians 1:20) and the salvation of all mankind (1 Timothy 4:10), but there are folks including myself who don't share some of your other personal beliefs.

Satan is the chief messenger of evil controlled by God (Job 1:6-12, 2:1-7), but Satan will lose his power (1 Corinthians 15:24) and be among all on the earth and in the heavens who will be reconciled (Colossians 1:20) and subjected to God when God will be all in all (1 Corinthians 15:28).

I started to include that scripture verse in the answer, but some don't believe it give enough info to determine whether Satan was created evil.  I knew there was debate over that issue, so I left it out.  They question in phrase "from the beginning," by asking, "from the beginning of what?"  IMO, it means from Satan's beginning, but I don't think it really matters anyway, since we know that God knew ahead of time that Satan would become evil even if he were created good to start with.

With all due respect, I didn't share this to teach my beliefs.  This thread is not meant to start debates on every question posed.  I shared it to bring out the fact that most ETers don't really study the scriptures enough to know some of the most basic fundamentals.  And those who do study, study "inside the box".  Most simply believe what they have been taught in Sunday School, from the pulpit, or from hearsay.  That's how heresy spreads.  People take it at face value and don't really ever dig deep and search for truth.  They tend to put more faith in their pastors and Sunday School teachers than in God.

I would agree with that. And there are some people who are perfectly fine until the topic of religion comes up. One of my good college friends who I have known since middle school is from a strict, conservative Lutheran family. His family is perfectly nice, but I wouldn't dare get into a religious discussion with them because they are those people who are completely set on their beliefs and at the point where they are totally against change. My parents are at the same stage of their lives though. I have told them what I believe, and they told me I can believe what I want, but they are still confused as to why I don't want to go to church anymore or join any religious organizations on campus.

I would agree with that. And there are some people who are perfectly fine until the topic of religion comes up. One of my good college friends who I have known since middle school is from a strict, conservative Lutheran family. I have told them what I believe, and they told me I can believe what I want, but they are still confused as to why I don't want to go to church anymore or join any religious organizations on campus.

I can relate.  Some of my family and friends cannot understand why I don't "go to church" anymore.
