Probably, God could not have allowed a better foil of contrast of evil versus good than to let His written word be mistranslated. Against the black background of the theological false doctrines of never ending suffering or annihilation God will paint His glorious masterpiece of universal transformation using the paint brushes of His love that can never fail, and His grace that cannot be defeated.
As I read these words, I could not help but get a picture of the cross in my head.
Just like those who put Christ to death on the cross, are those who mistranslate the written word ..... just like they took the life out of the physical Christ so do those who take the life out of the written word, replacing it with fear and death or a combination of both which is the "fear of death".
Christ was misinterpreted in His physical life and made to be death by taking on the sin of mankind, and so has His written word taken upon itself the sin of mankind ..... for what is sin? Is it not to miss the mark? and is it not missing the mark to misinterpret?
To see the misinterpretations of the written word through translation errors is again putting to death that which brings life. Each misinterpretation of the written word is the culmination of the words "Then if any man shall say onto you, Lo, here is Christ or there, believe it not (Matthew 24:23).
The true word that is of God is written in the hearts and minds, and when THAT word comes to life in you, so is the resurrection of our blessed Lord and Savior in us.
Amen! And what a contrast! Just like this present - life as we know it - of imperfection/missing the mark compared to His perfect kingdom.. We have a missing the mark gospel/good news.
I often imagine the great fear certain abusers of others may have when awakening from their death slumber and then believing they are in for endless torture. What a relief and contrast it will be to finally realize they have been redeemed, their debt paid.. The glory of God will find them burning with shame and I have to suppose, whether sooner or later, with deep, deep agonizing remorse.
But, as we know, what with God to be "all in all", it will all 'end' with full grace, peace and joy for them!
Both posts, Roger and jugghead, were very poetic! What a world/reality it will be when all are able to express truth in wonderful ways!
