Shalom fellow brothers and sisters.

I would like to pose a question about medicine. If someone lives in Cal. for instance where cannabis is legal and has a legal prescription for it then what happens when they move to Minn. where it is still considered a type 1 drug? Do you believe that person has a right to the only medicine known to relieve certain ailments. Did God create herbal medicine that if used correctly should not be illegal? I am struggling with this one. My best friend uses cannabis and wants to know how we feel about this plant that was made by Yahweh.

Genesis 1

29 Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food." And it was so.  :Peace2:
Shema O Israel, Yahweh our Elohim is Yahweh echad!!!

I was about to quote the same Scripture before I got to the end of your post, DuWayne.  The critical phrase is "for food" - eat it, eat it, don't smoke it or turn it into a white powder and snuff it up your nose.  Ingest it the way God designed you to ingest it.  Don't be deceived by the well-meaning folks over at High Times.
Socrates taught Plato.  Plato taught Aristotle.  Aristotle tutored the son of Philip of Macedon.  This boy grew up to become Alexander the Great, largely by slaughtering a lot of people.  That's philosophy.

Jesus spoke the Truth.  He blessed the poor.  He healed the sick.  He even raised the dead.  He died on a cross for us, lived again, and came back long enough to tell us to love one another.  That's religion.

YHVH = Behold the Nail, Behold the Hand = Jesus

For me it is a medicinal plant that can be abused just like any thing that man finds desirable for his lust or pleasure. It is a natural herb that relieves stress, and stress is top 10 killer. I am not in a place of judging, I don't believe that weed should be illegal.
The stories told by the anti-cannabis people is like the argument of hell(ET) and hell(UR).. fables, myths, and lies just seem to gather more popular weight than the truth.

I myself keep some for stress, I'm a vet with prostate cancer in remission, radiation worked I guess, I also made turmeric tea, and I prayed. I will hold the prayer up first, but I also must possibly give credit to the other remedies.

The crapake mushroom is a deterrent to cancer, cannabis is a cancer deterrent and relieves pain. It's the abuse of anything that causes what comes out of a person. :HeartThrob:

We must consider the scripture that says we are to obey the laws of our country.  (Sorry, I could not find the reference)

However, in itself, its not going to hurt anything to smoke a little weed ever now and then, any more than to take a little wine now and then.

MODERATION IS THE KEY! :declare:

However, I don't know if it is wise to smoke anything, given the health hazards.

I choose NOT to smoke weed.  Don't like it. :Peace2:

As I recall you didn't know how to reconcile eating marijuana or the sort. If you bind the properties of fat (butter) you can ingest it and you don't have to smoke it. Its just an herb that Yahweh made to be consumed for what ever reasons the HS tells us to do so (individually). I don't believe that Yahweh gives us all the same prescriptions but he is always a healer and if this herb heals things than would he have created it?

I "...didn't know how to reconcile eating marijuana or the sort..."?  I didn't mean to give that impression, then or now.  Eat the things which grow from the ground, avoiding the ones you know are poison, with gladness, and avoid drugs some guy makes in his lab.  Even Grace Slick said so.

I'm not the moral police, but if you have to ask...something within you is saying its not right.

Marijuana is hard to be smoked for mild relaxation...harder to eat it for relaxation...you are either high or not high...hard to monitor dose.  We are not to be drunkards, but to be of sound mind.

I see other prescription drugs in a similar light.  Opiates, benzos, amphetamines...etc. all prescribed but can draw a curtain between you and God.  They all have their place , especially with end of life suffering.  But, mood altering drugs are not beneficial to our walk with Christ.

My friend also has AIDS and he believes the same things most of us here do.

Something to look into/study.

Exodus chapter 30 verse 22 - 33:

Moreover the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying: "Take thou also unto thee principal spices, of pure myrrh five hundred shekels, and of sweet cinnamon half so much, even two hundred and fifty shekels, and of sweet KINEBOISIN two hundred and fifty shekels.

And of cassia five hundred shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary, and of olive oil an hin

And thou shalt make it an oil of holy ointment, an ointment compound after the art of the apothecary; it shall be an holy anointing oil

And thou shalt anoint the tabernacle of the congregation therewith, and the ark of the testimony.

Upon man's flesh shall it not be poured, neither shall ye make any other like it, after the composition of it: it is holy, and it shall be holy unto you

Whosoever compoundeth any like it, or whosoever putteth any of it upon a stranger, shall even be cut off from his people

KINEBOISIN, according to the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, is the old name for cannabis - it was also spelt kannabosm. They claim it was mis-translated in the King James' version of the bible, as "calamus"

Agreed.
The oldest known manuscripts agree with each other 99% of the time.  The scriptures, accurately translated, Spirit revealed - reliable.   Looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith.  Heb. 12:2

Each man needs to decide for himself.  I'm not going to play the role of the Holy Spirit in anyones life.  But, for me...this falls under non-beneficial.  It doesn't draw me to God, in fact marijuana alters me to a place I no longer recognize myself.  Today, I want God, not a drink, not some pot, and not some pills.  We called to live sober lives.

I don't believe God told Moses to roll a blunt and get high on Kineboisin.  Anything God has made can be used for good or evil.

How do you know what God said to Moses? My bible says that:

Well, I don't know if you realize this, but poison ivy and poison sumac fall into this category, both of which I am familiar with, since they grow here in Alabama.  My point is that this is a general statement.  We are expected to use our best judgement when it comes to choosing foods to eat.  Good judgement then also dictates whether we smoke, what we smoke, why, and how much.  Good judgement does not allow me to smoke anything but pork ribs, and then not too much of a good thing!  :laughing7:  Good judgement does not allow me to use any intoxicating substance for recreation.

I believe the Holy Spirit helps us have and use good judgement.

NEVER disobey your better judgement! :2c:

Yes, we are able to use Gods creation for both good and evil purposes.  I can pick up a rock and stone someone to death, or I can use rocks to build a home.  Not every green plant is suitable for food...some are in fact poisonous.  I don't see too many people consuming poison ivy.  God has given us these things so we can be good stewards, discerning beneficial from non beneficial.  So imo, using that scripture to validate getting high is short sighted at best.

But, ultimately this is between you and The Lord.  If you believe getting high is beneficial to spiritual growth then more power to you.

When I ingest alcohol it makes feel strong and proud when I drink too much
I become intolerant and violent.
When I ingest marijuana I feel peaceful and reflective and sober.
when I ingest too much .... Well that's never happened.

I actually praise  God and thank him for the blessing.

But please let the Spirit guide you and ask the Lord if this beneficial.
It is certainly permissible

Smoke it, bake it, butter it, eat it.

Makes no difference to me, I'm ok with it.

I don't mess with it.

Don't like it.

Illegal.

Alright, we let this run for a bit.  It's locked.  For those passing through seeking Jesus and the things of Jesus, we don't need to be categorized as the dope-smoking (or eating) proponents of UR.   If someone has a truly compelling reason, related to Biblical UR, that this topic should be left open longer, please contact me (or any/all of the mods) by PM.  Thanks.

If some feel the freedom before God to do it, believing it doesn't harm their body, mind, or spirit in any way, believing they remain sober and sober-minded as Paul taught, that's between them and God.  Others of us don't believe that way, and that's between us and God (also for both, with consideration as to how it affects our fellow man - "no man lives unto himself").   :2c:
