Title: Looking for studies on earthquakes.
Post by: WhiteWings on June 12, 2014, 07:44:50 PM
Jesus dies. An earthquake follows and saints rise from their tombs.
The women arrive at the tomb. The empty tomb is open. (empty is resurrected)

Does anyone have some articles dealing with the link between earthquakes and resurrection?

Re:  Does anyone have...?

Not yet... but I just googled earthquakes resurrection---> 153,000 sites!!!???
Of course, I'll have to read and then print any article that I may deem worthy of further study and sharing...    153,000  wonder if there is some connection between this and the 153 fish caught by the disciples!!!???

I'm looking forward to any articles posted...very interesting topic.

Sorry for the grammatical earthquake Anna

I didn't check all 153.000 but the ones I checked are all about the two verses I posted.

As for the 153 fish http://tfalck.home.comcast.net/~tfalck/theomatics/#The 153 Fish (http://tfalck.home.comcast.net/~tfalck/theomatics/#The%20153%20Fish)

Dancing banana!  seems a bit out of character.  imo, your humor is a bit more  sophisticated...

Sorry, but I won't be spending any more time or energy on earthquakes resurrection...  it's all your fault...I'm much more interested in "theomatics"...fits even better with my ongoing study re:  physical realities teach/reveal spiritual truths.

Did you expect otherwise? Earthquakes are caused by a fault (line)

Seems like a topic that no one has really explored from a scriptural perspective.

To Google two or more words and get more relevant results, put he words between quotation marks.
When I googled that way I got 1,930 results. The few results I scanned seemed useless to answer the question meaningfully imo.

See, I knew your humor was a bit more sophisticated...

joeteekay, I actually found at least 20-30 articles directly connected to earthquakes resurrection from a Biblical perspective...

I believe there's an earthquake when Jesus returns too, which likely all know.. Zechariah 14:4 - On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a great valley, with half of the mountain moving north and half moving south.

tho in this case the rising precedes it when all believers/followers "meet Him in the air"..

Literal or figurative. I tend to think this is both. Certainly a literal shaking of the earth along all the fault (fault- ours and mankind's)) lines which He formed.

:cloud9: If I could but spiritualize it for a moment.....I've had profound revelations of/from the Lord before, that for sure, caused an earthquake (my earthen body was reeling). Just sayin'..... :laughing7:

I know most on this forum gave me a big fat literallist stamp. A good stamp but I also deserve a spiritualist stamp  :gimmefive:
Seriously now there is a lot of literal earthquake stuff in the Bible. Few were mentioned already. Sodom and the sister cities have a strong tie to tectonic activity. In fact the whole area is on a massive fault line. That includes (the) Jerusalem (area). Massive underground water bassins have be found in that area. Some speculate the now tiny  gideon spring once fed the rivers exiting the Garden of Eden. The spring is capped off by a tektonic shift. So in theory Marie Glen could be right. The mount could split (and the ancient spring uncapped)

Just saying the whole area has all the ingredients for literal earthquakes. With that I'm most certainly not excluding the spiritual counterparts.

Anyway I can only find 2 earthquakes that 'give life'. The more abundant killer quakes I'm not so interested in.

....the 'QUAKE" connection.....

2 Esdras 6;13-30  Rise to your feet and you will hear a loud resounding voice. When it speaks

do not be frightened if the place where you stand[understanding] trembles and shakes. it

speaks of the end and the earth's foundations will understand that it is speaking of them, they

will tremble and shake for they know at the end they must be transformed..

On hearing this I rose to my feet and a voice began to speak- it's sound was like the sound

of rushing water's.

Isaaih 29;18   and in that day-shall the deaf hear the  Words of the Book...and the eyes of

the blind shall see out of obscurity and outof darkness.............v 24 they also that erred in spirit

shall come to understand, and they that murmured shall learn doctrine.
