Anyone know any good resources or videos on it? I don't really care if it is for Young Earth or Old Earth, just on it in general.

I once found a 4 hour video on it, but I never watched it and lost the link.

Answers in Genesis is always good.. I have this link saved, https://answersingenesis.org/theory-of-evolution/top-ten-myths-about-evolution/

Just today I was reading something about evidence of super earthquakes and tsunami’s in the geologic past, which of course is thought to be greater age than young earth belief, but which I figure a flood with waters covering for a year would do a lot of aging. (Which most tsunami’s are caused by earthquakes.)

Thanks for the links so far! I have been aware of Answers in Genesis for a while now, and I started to watch the very bottom link of your last reply.

Speaking of mutations, I remember in my High School Biology class, the teacher mentioned a person born with 6 fingers on their hand as a "positive" mutation. I think they rely on "neutral" mutations to try to get their conclusions.

I avoid any comments, especially on these kinds of videos, as that just ruins my mood.

I'm watching the mutation one -- and I'm putting it on my watch again later list. I'm trying to commit to memory some key phrases.. I kind of knew that mutations move sideways at best..

I love science! It's fascinating and amazing.. Not that I know that much about it however :laughing7:

I found someone new! I love listening to these guys! I'm only at 10 minutes, but his point about time at that spot is just too good. You may know how time is like the end all answer for evolution theory.. I've heard it called the 'god' of the theory.. as in with enough time nothing is impossible..

This gentleman seems to know what he's talking about.. besides this time thing "actually the enemy of life forming"..

This website is science based and the authors believe in intelligent design.

I do think it's good to respect the fact that people with training who devote their whole lives to a field of study know more than the average person.

I believe in God-led intelligent design and am not opposed to evolution as a way that God creates. I (as of now) believe in an old earth because the science is just too compelling for me to throw it out.

God created the natural world and if by studiying the natural world, people come to conclusions, I believe they are in effect studying God, in that He is in his creation.

So I don't think God and science are in opposition, and historically many Christians were also scientists.

Copernicus, Galileo, Pascal, Newton, etc.

marie glen

I've been reading some about dna.. it's very interesting. I'm very slowly reading a book called "in the beginning" - Which looks like a very well organized science manual. I've so far only gotten to the first page of the intro.. a few weeks back. I was so floored by what I read that I can see it will take me a very long time to read, if I should ever get it read.

What I did read was that the information in one cell would fill the Grand Canyon. (Every cell has a copy of the dna strand of that person, animal, creature, etc. The information. But if we had the physical material of the dna in every person, it would be about the size of an aspirin. Actually, it said the dna material from all humans who have ever lived. But I can't quite grasp that so I've downsized it to those alive now. :laughing7:

[We need an emoji around here that's a person fallen flat on their back.. floored. That's how I feel so often about God. And I'm sure others do to.. just sayin' not a request, lol.]

I agree GiL, about respecting and taking into consideration ppl who spend their lives in a field. I love to read and listen to creationist scientists. They've been keeping track or keeping up, that is, and have theories on questions, many taking into consideration bible verses, we might not have noticed the science in. Science of course involves the interpretation of data and in some cases observation. There's a lot of dispute and criticism of what they call certain assumptions involved in our dating methods..

Of course all of that doesn't matter all that much.. except knowing God indeed created.. and will redeem and make new all! :gsmile:

I also read an article which said they believe the 2 accounts of the creation of man and woman.. why there are two, and they differ slightly, is because the first in Genesis one is the design/draft/blueprint, and the second is the activating. I found that interesting.. but  :dontknow: who knows.. (I've thought of the 2nd as an insert(?)

I also read about experiments done by geneticists, on mice. They taught a skill to the mice and then saw the skill seemed to be passed on to the mice born from them! This makes me think that ultimately in our genetic code is all of history.. (generally speaking, or all that is in each person's genetic line.. with each one going ultimately back to Adam.. Eve, it would seem was a copy of Adam, as taken from Adam's rib, would include the exact copy of Adam's (full) genetic code - not yet narrowed so those very first folks could marry a sibling - only adding the Y chromosome, which men do not have..

Studies in genetics have gotten pretty good.. tracing all Y chromosome back to one.. and I can't remember what else traced back to one, Adam. Oh and there's a genetic bottleneck in human history where they can tell the population was very few with most having perished somehow.

Of course so much if these newer things, after Darwin, etc, aren't in the textbooks. And the creationist studies, etc are allowed in public education and rudiculed in the universities. The new things brought to light, like how intricate a humble cell is.. Used to be thought of as a mere sort of blob but we know now it's a communications and activity network to rival our largest metropolis.

Something "complexity" (dang this faulty memory!) that if anything too complicated, couldn't exist w/o it's parts - like an automobile, won't work w/o the engine, transmission..

In organic, it all would have had to all develop at once.. ever so slowly.. then there's"redundant complexity" which is back up dna (programs?) that should a mutationmess up a fiction which happens a lot, the back up would kick in, less efficient but would still work allowing survival / life. That even those functions mapped out in the dna code are so complex..

Well God working slowly directing it would work, for sure. But random, directionless infinitesimal changes, producing all the life that exists?

And that's only what I've been reading or listening to and that's very limited. I get the sense there is tons more.

When it comes to God-less evolution theory.. it really is very outdated.

The last link I posted was so informative.. how things just don't act in the way evolution needs them to be acting. So interesting. Sure Denys doubt all to heck.. and I suppose is why these things are so suppressed. So many folks assume evolution, because it's taught, has been somehow proven.

The thing is, man is so against the idea of God - some folks anyway.. that no matter what, even in all those areas where looking closer (than the 'primative' day's of Darwin) science reveals as evolution not working.. they still simply rely upon the belief. They just don't know how it works yet. But the other idea is so preposterous to them.. Evolutionery scientists have been quoted saying that very thing. That's belief, not actual science.

Most folks are too busy to look deeply into these things. So I thank God for the ones who do study and work in the fields. But especially those who take into account God's Word along with man's and even more so than man's word and ideas, theories, observations/or that is interpretation of observations- since no human was there at origins.

I had to get up out of my comfy chair to see who wrote the book I'm ever so slowly reading - "in the beginning compelling evidence for creation and the flood" by Walt Brown, Ph.D ..I'm quite sure i'll not get a lot of it read.. but it looks like a good index and great list of contents.. so able to find good answers.. I bought it on eBay after reading about the book in somebody's post.. somewhere..

...I wonder if that’s why S.O.S (song of Solomon) says “none will lack their twin”? (Geneticists have figured Eve was an exact copy of Adam with just the Y chromosome added, which men do not have. Taken from his rib, she’d be an exact copy of Adam, exact dna strand, which a copy is in every cell. Except for the Y..) no I’m not thinking we all are literal genetic twins w/ our mate.. :gsmile:

It’s curious how Paul said the mystery of lawlessness was already at work in his time.. and how he had mentioned those things to the Thessalonians believers when he was with them(2thess.2) But in my head, the lawless one (collective) comes to light in ‘last’ days.. how he sits himself in the seat of God/highest power, showing himself that he is’god’/highest power, deciding What is good and evil. So was evolution theory present in the ancient world? And lo and Behold there’s lots of articles talking about evolution thought/theory in especially the Greeks. So I got it into my head that perhaps it’s even more ancient than that.. Even the crazy idea it’s involved in the offering of Cain. Which I have no idea.. but such bees in my bonnet make me research.

It’s well known that Greece got a lot of their belief and philosophy from Egypt. And more and more that Babylon preceded Egypt.. I just figure everything spread out from Babel Tower / Babylon. Now archaeologists are finding that when it comes to the which was first debate, Egypt or Babylon, surprise, it’s Babylon.

I finally came across this article - https://creation.com/evolution-ancient-pagan-idea - “Evolution: an ancient pagan idea - The Greeks borrowed some of these ideas from the Babylonians, Egyptians and Hindus, whose philosophies extended back centuries before. For example...”

There’s a verse which says “you say to the stone, you are my creator” something like that, referring to idolatry, it’s assumed. But also I’ve read some are equating evolution to that verse, as a new (and ancient) theory is rock breakdown was the origin of the first life.. Its interesting to read of ancient theory which proposed life originating in water or watery earth (mud/slime) both Greek and Hindu belief..

Some folks may think this shows truth as others come to same conclusions, but I see it as spiritual deception and conspiracy..

Interesting! This morning in Strong's I found that Thomas in Strong's roots back to a word meaning twins.

Speaking of chromosomes, a good video on a discovery of finding living blood on the Ark of covenant. It had either 1 x or 1 y chromosome, can't remember. Had someone research this persons studies, and they seem legitimate. Self funds it himself, etc. Whose blood is this? Click the link to find out!

  That was very good! I watched one before by Kent Hovind about it, "Ron" being a friend of his. Which I watched again today, both times pretty awesome.. I don't doubt it actually.. and I especially like the verse in your link, about the witness in earth, of the Spirit, the water and the blood.. (kool!) Even if it's not true, it doesn't matter. I suppose that's the witness of the Spirit, teaching us, etc. which is so convincing. But I wonder what the witness of the water is..? Do you know? Or have any ideas? I always assumed it's referring to baptism..?  :Chinscratch: Now i'm wondering, the new birth as a witness/testimony?

It's an awesome thing! I sure hope the videos are true. It certainly sounds like something God would do! (Like writing the gospel, which includes UR, in the Holy Days? But this if true is even MORE amazing!)

...About intelligent design.. I believe in the evolution of thought/thinking. Especially with God's Spirit (Presence w/us?) teaching us. He builds on what He's teaching. Yes? Like confirmations.. like ripples in a pond.

I thought I'd leave the link to the Kent Hovind video.. another short one, just 14 minutes.. It doesn't have the blood test however, as it's obviously an earlier video. Very interesting about the 3rd temple folks though..

This appeared in the Google recommended page for some reason:

https://www.express.co.uk/news/science/1049361/dinosaur-evolution-discovery-news-mammal-triassic-permian-period/amp

Oh yes, there’s always lots of questions.. It doesn’t work. It’s a great research project.. or to read a little something every day. As for me, I don’t read a lot of it based on man’s word but I prefer the research and understanding of those who are more based on God’s Word. And that includes old earth believers. Doesn’t hurt to research it.

Answers in Genesis, Creation Institute.. and more..

And rational thinking of course.. like could a mammal (‘flying squirrel’) really develop into a bird? The pads between its toes develop into wings and his bones becoming hollow? And all of course by fortunate accident. (A theory, like the whale became the land cow. Lol.)

Even the basis, the dating method chosen is very questionable. Carbon 14 dating of organic material.. supposedly said organic decaying for millions of years. Right. There’s a lot of prime swamp land for sale these days.. But! it’s a great day to be researching things what with the internet. Don’t forget tho the more Christian will likely not come up at the head of searches unless the search phrase is worded for it(?)

And I do not believe everything evolution ‘scientists’ or google says, or Wiki this or that. I believe God is accurate and man is not. (But I have researched it a lot.. mostly via AIG, Creation Institute, etc. and prayers for logic and understanding of course.)

I think it’s a good thing to research and come to an understanding about, rather than it being merely a matter of faith. Men interpret the science. So it’s the science we need to understand, not what others say the science is. When it comes to the so called authorities in a field. None, to me, trump God/His Word. Millions of years b4 Adam and Eve? All that death before sin? I believe that to be man’s word and I can’t make myself believe that. And since the ‘science’ is actually so sketchy anyway, why should I?

Well.. even tho I don’t like this topic here.. I just can’t help myself. How it relates to UR..(?) To me, it has a lot in common w/ ET belief. I think of them both as “strong delusions” (which lead astray, away from God, imo :) Feel free to pm me, I never tire of this topic.

And there’s something else, how it relates to ur.. but dang it I forgot!  :dontknow: that we should be good bereans regarding both issues..?

All of this just my own views on the topic of course. :gsmile:

The Bible says great fountains of the deep released water, and I believe the whole earth was covered with the waters. And also, thinking about the force of all that water.. seems to me to support this new evidence of (“super”) earthquakes, thus tsunamis in the geologic record of the Earth.
:Peace2:

I guess I wrote it because it came up in my searches, super earthquakes supports belief in a global flood, and I thought it was interesting related to tsunamis. I’m not sure why tsunamis have to be mentioned in the Bible for me to mention them.. For instance a sign of latter days given by Jesus / spoken by Him, is increased earthquakes in various places. Earthquakes are what produce tsunamis. Whether or not there has yet been increased earthquakes or tsunamis in our days would likely be another good research.. But not so much here at Tentmaker..

Very interesting, thanks for the info!

We've wandered from the beginning / intelligent design to eschatology! (Well, He is A to Z! Beginning to end, lol.)

So I thought I'd post these link which I found very interesting, especially the second -

The Last Judgment (Michelangelo)

This is the view that has been adopted by Christianity, for the most part?

QUOTE -

The Last Judgment (Italian: Il Giudizio Universale) is a fresco by the Italian Renaissance painter Michelangelo covering the whole altar wall of the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City. It is a depiction of the Second Coming of Christ and the final and eternal judgment by God of all humanity. The souls of humans rise and descend to their fates, as judged by Christ who is surrounded by prominent saints.
—————

Is it Biblical do you think.. or is it kind of garbled together/misunderstood?

Of note, in the painting is Charon, with his boat on River Styx, on its way to Hades. -

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Last_Judgment_(Michelangelo)

——————-

Another interesting thing -
"Catholicism. Belief in the Last Judgment (often linked with the General judgment) is held firmly in Catholicism. Immediately upon death each soul undergoes the particular judgment, and depending upon the state of the person's soul, goes to Heaven, Purgatory, or Hell."

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Last_Judgment

⁃   my own opinion, a little long, but not too long.. but an interesting read.. where metaphor is read as literal.. there's no distinction between what occurs at Jesus' return and what occurs after Jesus' millennium; also John the Baptist's words to the Pharisees and priests, are taken to refer to all mankind and hell rather than to the judgment upon Israel coming in 70A.D.. And very revealing right to the end. And very interesting to me, because I've not been affiliated with a church or group.. just the bible, and long before the internet. Of course much beliefs of the churches originated from someone's reading of the Bible. But I still think doing our own reading is the best, and in context. Context being what God is saying? And out of context not so much..?

In both paintings, those are the weirdest depictions of Christ I have ever seen. And the second one looks anorexic for some reason. Another thing, Jesus and Mary there look "disgusted" by those below(sinners), very different than Jesus in the Gospels.

If you say Purgatory applies to everyone, then maybe you're getting somewhere. But the concept is still warped, along with their views of God. They seem to think that pain and torture is going to somehow correct someone. And God hates them when doing it. Curious, wouldn't the Saints in purgatory undergo the same fire as the ones in hell? If the purgatory people are corrected by this fire, why wouldn't the others?

This thread is already off topic, but don't care too much lol. Might as well bring this up:

https://youtu.be/fH-46i2RDBU

Shows clips about the "gender neutral" disaster, and I suspect it is going to get worse, as the frog gets boiled slowly. Also about microchips, and 1 world government. Very interesting, if things really are heading in this direction, we might actually see those things come to pass.

Answers in Genesis is always good.. I have this link saved, https://answersingenesis.org/theory-of-evolution/top-ten-myths-about-evolution/

These look interesting.. I save the links intending to return and read more fully..

Some great excerpts here, https://answersingenesis.org/ministry-news/ministry/taking-back-astronomy-the-heavens-declare-creation/

Just today I was reading something about evidence of super earthquakes and tsunami's in the geologic past, which of course is thought to be greater age than young earth belief, but which I figure a flood with waters covering for a year would do a lot of aging. (Which most tsunami's are caused by earthquakes.)

https://answersingenesis.org/evidence-for-creation/six-evidences-of-young-earth/ - P.S. this looks like the best link of these..

I think I'll read these! :Peace2:

Which you figure? That's just you saying I'm going to decide that's the expalnation it's not considered or researched at all. The Bible says the great flood was caused by rain. No tsunamis occur in the Bible so far as I can recall. Why are you mentioning tsunamis?

"Just today I was reading something - on a geology site - about evidence of super earthquakes and tsunami's in the geologic past, which of course is thought to be greater age than young earth belief, but which I figure a flood with waters covering for a year would do a lot of aging. The Bible says great fountains of the deep released water, and I believe the whole earth was covered with the waters. And also, thinking about the force of all that water.. seems to me to support this new evidence of ("super") earthquakes, thus tsunamis in the geologic record of the Earth.
:Peace2:

I guess I wrote it because it came up in my searches, super earthquakes supports belief in a global flood, and I thought it was interesting related to tsunamis. I'm not sure why tsunamis have to be mentioned in the Bible for me to mention them..

Why does the Bible need to mention Tsunami's for you to mention them? Because you claim to take the Bible literally. Tsunami's don't come from the great fountains of the deep, they come from the ocean.  Biblically, the great fountains of the deep are the source of the spring that watered the land and caused plants to grow, including Eden, in Genesis 2. It doesn't refer to tsunamis because that's not how earthquakes produce tsunamis.

As for your 'evidence' I will see your:

https://answersingenesis.org/theory-of-evolution/top-ten-myths-about-evolution/

and raise you:

https://answersingenesis.org/who-is-god/god-is-good/what-kind-of-god-would-condemn-people-to-eternal-torment/

Now I don't expect any Christian to be right on everything, but when they represent God like this I feel I seriously need to question their credentials.

But that would be two issues.. I've never come across any group that hasn't some error.. And I trust by far science and scientists that know God's word trumps man's word every time (or I guess that would be my opinion as I don't know theirs totally)..

And my point was all that water upon the Earth causing teutonic plate activity - evidence of super earthquakes in the geologic past which causes, though not always of course, tsunami's.. which would be a theory as I was not there to observe.. But in my mind, my focus was on tsunami's being caused by earthquakes and increasing earthquakes were prophesied by Jesus.. how I got from intelligent design to (imo)signs of judgment advancing closer, idk..
