I get a lot out of confronting sectarianism, it helps me work my faith.
My brother Ed, the wonderful purpose in the Master of restoring the all back to Him must come from an awakening of His Spirit.
There is a general arrogance exhibited my some on this thread with little interest in moving beyond lifeless creeds. I do appreciate your diligence there as you stand with what is dear to our Father. He will honour you as you honour Him.

Howdy wonderful believers, I'm looking for an article that addresses wrath in the Old Testament.
Here is the question I'm trying to help with.
God is awesome and terrifying, some of the things I have listed here pertaining to His wrath.
God burns the whiners (Numbers 11:1-2)
Now the people complained about their hardships in the hearing of the Lord, and when he heard them his anger was aroused. Then fire from the Lord burned among them and consumed some of the outskirts of the camp. When the people cried out to Moses, he prayed to the Lord and the fire died down.
God sends Quail (Numbers 11:4-5, 19, 31, 33)
The rabble with them began to crave other food, and again the Israelites started wailing and said, ?If only we had meat to eat! We remember the fish we ate in Egypt at no cost?also the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions and garlic.... You will not eat it for just one day, or two days, or five, ten or twenty days... Now a wind went out from the Lord and drove quail in from the sea. It scattered them up to two cubits deep all around the camp, as far as a day?s walk in any direction.... But while the meat was still between their teeth and before it could be consumed, the anger of the Lord burned against the people, and he struck them with a severe plague.
God strikes down the scouts (Numbers 13:17-18, 32-33, 14:36-37)
When Moses sent them to explore Canaan, he said, ?Go up through the Negev and on into the hill country. See what the land is like and whether the people who live there are strong or weak, few or many.... And they spread among the Israelites a bad report about the land they had explored. They said, ?The land we explored devours those living in it. All the people we saw there are of great size. We saw the Nephilim there. We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.... So the men Moses had sent to explore the land, who returned and made the whole community grumbled against him by spreading a bad report about it. these men who were responsible for spreading the bad report about the land were struck down and died of a plague before the Lord.
God threatens to destroy the Israelites, but Moses calms Him (Numbers 14:11-16)
The Lord said to Moses, ?How long will these people treat me with contempt? How long will they refuse to believe in me, in spite of all the signs I have performed among them? I will strike them down with a plague and destroy them, but I will make you into a nation greater and stronger than they.? Moses said to the Lord, ?Then the Egyptians will hear about it! By your power you brought these people up from among them. And they will tell the inhabitants of this land about it. They have already heard that you, Lord, are with these people and that you, Lord, have been seen face to face, that your cloud stays over them, and that you go before them in a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. If you put all these people to death, leaving none alive, the nations who have heard this report about you will say, ?The Lord was not able to bring these people into the land he promised them on oath, so he slaughtered them in the wilderness.?
God buries the insolent alive (Numbers 16:32-34)
and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them and their households, and all those associated with Korah, together with their possessions. They went down alive into the realm of the dead, with everything they owned; the earth closed over them, and they perished and were gone from the community. At their cries, all the Israelites around them fled, shouting, ?The earth is going to swallow us too!?
God burns people to death for burning incense (Numbers 16:35)
And fire came out from the Lord and consumed the 250 men who were offering the incense.
God destroys the assembly (Numbers 16:43-45)
Then Moses and Aaron went to the front of the tent of meeting, and the Lord said to Moses, ?Get away from this assembly so I can put an end to them at once.? And they fell facedown
God sends a plague on the Israelites (Numbers 16:48-50)
He stood between the living and the dead, and the plague stopped. But 14,700 people died from the plague, in addition to those who had died because of Korah. Then Aaron returned to Moses at the entrance to the tent of meeting, for the plague had stopped.
God sends snakes against the whiners (Numbers 21:5-6)
they spoke against God and against Moses, and said, ?Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? There is no bread! There is no water! And we detest this miserable food!? Then the Lord sent venomous snakes among them; they bit the people and many Israelites died.
God sends a plague and kills the Israelite judges because of Moab (Numbers 25:3-5, 7-9)
So Israel yoked themselves to the Baal of Peor. And the Lord?s anger burned against them. The Lord said to Moses, ?Take all the leaders of these people, kill them and expose them in broad daylight before the Lord, so that the Lord?s fierce anger may turn away from Israel.? So Moses said to Israel?s judges, ?Each of you must put to death those of your people who have yoked themselves to the Baal of Peor.?.... When Phinehas son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, the priest, saw this, he left the assembly, took a spear in his hand and followed the Israelite into the tent. He drove the spear into both of them, right through the Israelite man and into the woman?s stomach. Then the plague against the Israelites was stopped; but those who died in the plague numbered 24,000.
God declares war on the Midianites and exterminates them (Numbers 31:1-3, 7-12)
The Lord said to Moses, ?Take vengeance on the Midianites for the Israelites. After that, you will be gathered to your people.? So Moses said to the people, ?Arm some of your men to go to war against the Midianites so that they may carry out the Lord?s vengeance on them.... They fought against Midian, as the Lord commanded Moses, and killed every man. Among their victims were Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur and Reba?the five kings of Midian. They also killed Balaam son of Beor with the sword. The Israelites captured the Midianite women and children and took all the Midianite herds, flocks and goods as plunder. They burned all the towns where the Midianites had settled, as well as all their camps. They took all the plunder and spoils, including the people and animals, and brought the captives, spoils and plunder to Moses and Eleazar the priest and the Israelite assembly at their camp on the plains of Moab, by the Jordan across from Jericho.
God kills the children and women who were not virgins (Numbers 31:15-18)
?Have you allowed all the women to live?? he asked them. ?They were the ones who followed Balaam?s advice and enticed the Israelites to be unfaithful to the Lord in the Peor incident, so that a plague struck the Lord?s people. Now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man, but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man.
God divides the plunder including the sex slaves (Numbers 31:25-27, 32-25)
The Lord said to Moses, ?You and Eleazar the priest and the family heads of the community are to count all the people and animals that were captured. Divide the spoils equally between the soldiers who took part in the battle and the rest of the community.... The plunder remaining from the spoils that the soldiers took was 675,000 sheep, 72,000 cattle, 61,000 donkeys, and 32,000 women who had never slept with a man.
God's wrath absolutely terrifies me and it should terrify you as well. Imagine the punishment that comes on judgement day... We are but mortal sinful souls that deserve this treatment... but turning to Christ, Our Savior against His wrath, grants us everlasting life. Our reward is heaven.
I thought I'd go through a number of books that pertain to His wrath and what we might expect in the end-times. I think it will give us all the more reason to turn to Christ.
