G'day All;
Col 3;10-17 " Have put on the new man WHICH IS BEING RENEWED IN KNOWLEDGE AFTER THE IMAGE OF IT'S CREATOR.
Here there is no longer Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave and free, but Christ is all and in all.
Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and dearly loved,
clothe yourselves with heartfelt compassion,
kindness, humility, gentleness, patience.
Bear with one another, and forgive one another.
As the Lord has graciously forgiven you, so you must forgive.
And cover all these virtues with love, which is the bond that leads to perfection.
And let the peace of Christ be THE RULING PRINCIPLE IN YOUR HEART, to which you were indeed called into one body.
And be thankful.
Let the word of Christ dwell richly in you as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom by means of psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with gratitude in your heart to God.
And whatever you do in word or deed, DO EVERYTHING IN THE NAME OF OUR LORD JESUS,
giving thanks to the Father through Him."
Seems to highlight the fruit of the spirit quite well.
Key seems to be love- the uniting bond of completeness, which is surrounded by the peace of God which passes all understanding.
* "In the name" of Jesus seems to be delegated authority given to those In Christ.
All this seems to reinforce we are being moulded into personal knowledge of our loving Father as we grow and are nurtured thanks to Jesus.
Praise and glory to our Father; and Christ our loving saviour and brother.
 Amen! It proves that in God's Kingdom - in what He is creating - love (God) will be the ruling force! If Louis Armstrong could sing "What a Wonderful World" (I love that song!!) about life as we presently know it.. imagine what shall be! (What He is creating.) Wow.
Good post Ross.. love, patience, and unity as the gauge of maturity..
Yes, and to see that everyone is included in that love. Because election means Christ and Christ loves all and elects all to be the subjects of his grace.
We do not always believe in how rich the inheritance of Jesus is for us humans. Many even think that not all are included in that inheritance of grace and love. But that is folly. God took up responsibility in Christ and proves to be our Father.

There is indeed MUCH folly out there.
The richness of our inheritance is not expanded by man, but only as led in Christ;
Col 2;2,3 " My goal is that their hearts may be encouraged and knit together in love,
so that they may have all the wealth of full assurance of understanding,
for knowledge of God's mystery, which is Christ,
in Whom are hidden away all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge."We all may seek , but only Christ leads the way properly. His growth plan exceeds our personal attempts/efforts.
Amen.. there is lots of verses in that slim volume of the New Testament, which once the blinders of 'education'/indoctrination are removed are plain to see!
Also if He is perfect.. and surely He is, or wouldn't He too fade away..? (For some reason that seems reasonable to me and sticks with me.) And really now, perfect makes no mistakes and surely loses nothing. not one thing (person, especially!!) Or it wouldn't be perfect! Besides if anyone truly believed in eternal torment or eternal loss of so many and loved ones, they would be beside theirself with torment!!
Since He is perfect, the 'end' result of all this (learning of good from evil, life from nonlife / history) can onLy be the utter best 'end' result possible! Because He is perfect.
The gospel so many believe where so many are lost is ridiculous! Like God is impotent and also uncaring.. like, they didn't know enough to find Jesus, oh well.. But what does His Word (His promise / He gave His word) say? "He is love."

Hallelujah!!! Such a glorious age coming after the commencement of correction; unfortunately there will be the stripping away of much dirt before being brought to the position of cleanliness In Christ.
Do not want to be misunderstood; we are currently in the position of being cleansed by Christ, just that many are not aware of that yet, so will have to be shown what the dirt was that needed to be removed by Christ.- the process of judgment/correction.

Not by the written word alone but by the Living Word; Christ Himself
God's reversal of the curse of death is that death is not our end as taught by men but our beginning as taught by the Father through Christ; the Word that comes alive in us.
Those who take part in the first resurrection are dying to self while physically alive, but those who have not taken part in this first resurrection while physically alive, it becomes the second death (the dying to self) because physical death took place first.
The Father's reversal of the curse of death in His wisdom AND HOW GREAT IS HIS WISDOM is that death becomes the means by which we are brought back to the Father,
either by physical death in that we are separated from this physical body for our spirit to return to where it came from
AND
we are separated from self to become a new creature in Christ in the Lake of Fire (Baptism by Fire)
We either go through the Baptism by Fire while still physically alive or we go through it after we physically die
Oh death, where is thy sting? HOW POWERFUL those words become when He reveals the truth in us, when He reveals the Christ in us.
Glory to Him who has the wisdom and the means to defeat death

I often find myself thinking that much of correction and punishment, on judgment 'day' for instance, will be self inflicted.. And for those who's heart God has allowed to harden to the utmost - a state I truly believe without His interference, *eventually* we would ALL end up in - perhaps they became a dictator and harmed many.. made many many lives miserable and hard.. surely they deserve the whole cup , or at least some of the cup of the results and consequences of such.. for truth's sake, for their own sake(!) and for the sake of their victims.. Not that their victims won't forgive, etc.. but evil deeds deserve some consequences as do all.. not immediate transference into glory.. For what could be learned by that..? :dontknow: I really believe a lot of the weeping and gnashing of teeth will be remorse, regret and self horror.. (not that HE isn't offended at cruelty against the defenseless when it happens.. surely?!)
Iow, I too believe His punishment is corrective.. not revenge.. and how handy that experiencing consequences and results can be very enlightening and corrective! (That less than glorious limited gospel portrays Him as way too human like!)
:dsunny:
P.S - but I think the "millennium" of Jesus, spans between his return, and judgment 'day'.. because it says "the rest of the dead come not back to life unril the thousand years are ended".. and I optimistically think if it as a time when "the lion will eat straw like the it and the bear will graze with the cow.." ...folks living "under their own vine and fruit tree.."
A time of much learning, and teaching.. but also a day of recovery and refreshing.. rest and rejuvenation. Followed by what I can't help but think has to be a very hard 'day' of the review of all things (all history) thus much weeping and gnashing of teeth.. but a thorough review as to all things, every day/age of history as to what went wrong. :faint:
But I think you are likely right.. and even during the millennium.. much hard edges to be rubbed off.. of survivors, and even His own(?) Or will earthly, present life and time's tribulation/hardship do that..? :dontknow:
Very interesting, Jugghead.. I agree death brings us back to the Father, especially when we realize it is the "end" result of any disobedience and, or wrong-ness. Any and every tiny speck of. Or that's the way I think of it anyway..
Say! I never heard anyone say or allude to the idea that the elect's (those chosen to believe during this life.. through no wisdom or doing/earning on their part) for them, the first death is the dying to self and the 2nd death is physical death. (And because they previously went through death to self, "won't be hurt by the 2nd death"? :dontknow: ) ...But the 2nd death follows physical death of all those chosen to come to belief and reconciliation after this life.. Or I think you said.. :laughing7:
The idea kind of makes my head hurt, but it's intriguing and I can't help thinking it just may be true.
:Peace2:
I think when they speak of the dying of self, that also means we get a new, baptized, faithful self, the new creature in Christ. This new creature is really us so when we crucify our flesh we can release the new self which is actually a small Christ with authority and God's blessing of great love. So with this in mind, self realization is not bad if we understand that we do not realize anymore the old Adam but the new Adam that we share with Jesus Christ. We have the help of the cross for that which only meant pain for Jesus but not for us. And so we can carry this cross of Jesus with us, it is our crucified flesh so that we can live spiritually and life in love with God and man.

Yes marie ..... that is what I said, it isn't anything I ever heard before either, but it was a revelation for me ..... and it makes sense

Indeed direct personal interaction.

Exactly- how else can we learn unless shown specifically the error/mistakes?
I remember being corrected by my dad, and he pointed out the problem first, then said this is the consequence; and he is only flesh like me- so when our Heavenly Father elaborates and points out in more detail the larger picture, there will be much will be changed for the considerably better. Not necessarily pleasant! Yes a hard day- bit soooo positive in the end. That end literally justifying the means.
