(Dan 3:15) Now if you be ready that at what time you hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of music, you fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if you worship not, you shall be cast the same hour into the middle of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?
(Dan 3:16) Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer you in this matter.

(Dan 3:19) Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: therefore he spoke, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was wont to be heated.
(Dan 3:20) And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace.
(Dan 3:21) Then these men were bound in their coats, their hosen, and their hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the middle of the burning fiery furnace.
(Dan 3:22) Therefore because the king's commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flames of the fire slew those men that took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
(Dan 3:23) And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the middle of the burning fiery furnace.
(Dan 3:24) Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonished, and rose up in haste, and spoke, and said to his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the middle of the fire? They answered and said to the king, True, O king.
(Dan 3:25) He answered and said, See, I see four men loose, walking in the middle of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.
(Dan 3:26) Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, and spoke, and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, you servants of the most high God, come forth, and come here. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, came forth of the middle of the fire.
(Dan 3:27) And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king's counsellors, being gathered together, saw these men, on whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them.
(Dan 3:28) Then Nebuchadnezzar spoke, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who has sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king's word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.
Is this a parable? Is it mocking the hell doctrine?

Unharmed. Jesus (the Son of God) is also there.
no it never entered our Father's heart to burn His children in fire..and if satan should make a conflagration Father would use this great evil/trial
to loosen any 'binding' of them to torment and set them free unharmed...[ps satan mayuse atomic/nuclear firey conflagrations of men/rulers of this world
who know not what they do]. and now we know atomic nuclear war..even if it happens will cause no harm...it will only set men free from that which has bound them.

Revelation writes about LoF. NT writings very often reference to OT writings.
I'm just wondering if there is soem sort of connection.

That was my first thought too. But I don't think so. LoF is not ET hell but I doubt it's a dancing place.
Unless the 3 people are the saints who watch the people in LoF
It "never entered my mind" that it could be a parable or a prophecy. It was taught to me as a child, and it just seemed like one of those really cool "rescue" stories, like Daniel in the lion's den. I guess it probably does paint a further picture for us after all, huh? Well, huh...
I really like that appearance of Jesus in the OT too. "like unto the Son of God".. :thumbsup:

I've read that even (often) the prophets didn't even really understand what they were writing. God inspired (breathed it through) them. :2c:
yeah JC the utterance belongs to God......the adversary has a tongue and/or is given a mouth to speak also...even when we don't understand what is
being said is anti-Christ[thinking of Jesus saying to Peter..get behind me satan].....and the spiritual warfare continues

In the Book of Jasher, there is an account of Abram and his brother Haran being thrown into an over-heated furnace by Nimrod. Haran was burned to death because his heart "was not perfect with the Lord," but Abram was spared. Twenty of Nimrod's men were also killed by the fire. Nimrod, like Nebuchadnezzar, was astonished, pardoned Abram, gave him gifts (including his servant Eliezer, who is mentioned in the OT), and praised the true God.
If you haven't heard of the Book of Jasher, it is useful, but not as reliable as the Biblical text. It is mentioned twice in the OT.
