    This was put out sometime around the 2000 election. Some of information is disputed by "snopes". The basic information is FOOD for thought.

      This is the most interesting thing I've read in a long time. The sad thing about it, you can see it coming.
I have always heard about this democracy countdown. It is interesting to see it in print. God help us, not that we deserve it.

How Long Do We Have?

About the time our original thirteen states adopted their new

constitution in 1787, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor

at the University of Edinburgh , had this to say about the fall of

the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years earlier: 'A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist

as a permanent form of government.'

'A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters

discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public

treasury.'

'From that moment on, the majority always vote for the

candidates who promise the most benefits from the public

treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse

due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a

dictatorship.'

'The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years'

                                                              'During those 200 years, those nations always progressed through

the following sequence:

1. From bondage to spiritual faith;

2. From spiritual faith to great courage;

3. From courage to liberty;

4. From liberty to abundance;

5. From abundance to complacency;

                        6. From complacency to apathy;

                           7. From apathy to dependence;

         8. From dependence back into bondage'

Professor Joseph Olson of Hemline University School of Law, St.

Paul, Minnesota , points out some interesting facts concerning the

2000 Presidential election:

Number of States won by: Democrats: 19 Republicans: 29 Square miles of land won by: Democrats: 580,000 Republicans:

2,427,000 Population of counties won by: Democrats: 127 million

Republicans: 143 million Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Democrats:

13.2 Republicans: 2.1

Professor Olson adds: 'In aggregate, the map of the territory

Republican won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying

citizens of this great country. Democrat territory mostly

encompassed those citizens living in government-owned

tenements and living off various forms of government welfare...'

Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the

'complacency and apathy' phase of Professor Tyler's definition of

democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population

already having reached the 'governmental dependency' phase.

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million

criminal invaders called illegal's and they vote, then we can say

goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years.

If you are in favor of this, then by all means, delete this message.

If you are not, then pass this along to help everyone realize just

how much is at stake, knowing that apathy is the greatest danger

to our freedom.

Here's a way to catch wild pigs.

Go out into the woods and throw large amounts of corn on the ground.  They'll cautiously wander in and begin to eat it.  Continue to do this daily, but each day begin to put up a piece of fence around them, slowly forming a circle.  Over time, build the fence up until there's only an opening to place the gate, with a lock on the outside. Finally, after they've gotten completely used to you being there, put out the corn in abundance and have them come in to get it through the gate.  When they're all in, munching on the corn (by this time, extremely fat and happy), close the gate and lock it.  At first, some of them that notice will run around wildly, agitated and looking for a way out.  After a few minutes they'll settle down and return to the corn they've come to expect and will continue to gorge themselves upon...content to be trapped and done with what you wish.

Bacon anyone?

Our founders set up a perfect form of government, not a democracy, but a Republic.

Over time, Satan has perverted it.  Wake up, Eve!

Listen to the wailing of the shepherds,
      for their rich pastures are destroyed.
   Hear the young lions roaring,
      for their thickets in the Jordan Valley are ruined.

The Good and Evil Shepherds

4 This is what the Lord my God says: "Go and care for the flock that is intended for slaughter. 5 The buyers slaughter their sheep without remorse. The sellers say, 'Praise the Lord! Now I'm rich!' Even the shepherds have no compassion for them.

Yeah, you're right.  The U.S. Constitution forbids our becoming a democracy in Article 4, Section 4.  In the writings of the founding fathers, we're a Republic set up on the principles of the New Testament rather than on the ideas of the governed. The move towards being a democracy either began with the nineteen teens and twenties with all of the historical revisionism that started entering into the history books at that time, or  with the Supreme Court starting to become more and more activistic and abandoning of their Constitutional boundaries around that same time period, but with growing ferocity from the 1940s onwards.

Dr. Martin,
This is interesting:
http://www.lexrex.com/enlightened/AmericanIdeal/aspects/demrep.html

in showing the difference between a democracy and a republic.
Funny, I knew our nation was founded as a republic.

So when Bush sets up democracies such as he is trying in Afghanistan and Iraq, would this be the rule now? . . .

"The chief characteristic and distinguishing feature of a Democracy is: Rule by Omnipotent Majority. In a Democracy, The Individual, and any group of Individuals composing any Minority, have no protection against the unlimited power of The Majority. It is a case of Majority-over-Man."

That's just theory.
In reality their are election in both systems meaning the majority overrules the minority because the elected politicians are on a certain side.
I live in a so called 'democracy' but I also follow US politics and other republics (in the EU)
To me it all looks the same.
Just after the elections the mask goes of and it's business as usual.
During the elections you can choose sides.
Just after the elections suddenly two new parties are formed. Public and politics.

Sorry but that's very shortsighted at best. Not to say totally untrue in many cases.
/edit: I know of I should add.
1 Timothy 2:3-4  ...God our Savior;  Who will have all men to be saved...
John 12:47  And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
Romans 4:5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous ...

Our founders feared power falling into the hands of a few because they knew that absolute power corrupts absolutely.  That's why they limited power in all directions, with checks and balances of three branches of government, with the fourth estate, the press, (freedom of speech), even limiting the power of a possible mob rule with the design of a Republic.

What they couldn't protect against was total corruption everywhere.

Our system of government only works in the hands of a moral people.

Isaiah 59:14
And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter.

The intention of most political systems is good.
But as you wrote if all are corrupt the system will be corrupt too. And it always seems to end up that way.
So whoever your next Bilderberger, Illuminati, Skull and Bones, CFR, puppet, president is; it will just be old wine in new bags.
That's a worldwide problem. As predicted in the Bible...

Don't underestimate the remnant.

2Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the LORD.

3And I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all countries whither I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase.

4And I will set up shepherds over them which shall feed them: and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking, saith the LORD.

The issue of amnesty for the illegals is not the whole issue.   It will be a larger detriment to try to round them all up and deport them.  And to just leave them alone is not taking advantage of the tax base that exists there.

If the politicians are not going to close the borders off then it will not matter if we give them amnesty or not.

If we close the borders off, build a wall, and put the means there to enforce the closure, then we can give amnesty to the existing ones and a lot less trouble will result of it.  And it certainly will not bring down this country.

I say, put em to legal work and tax em like everyone else.  If they will not work legally, then deport them.  Seek and fine heavily companies proven to hire illegals.  Really,  how hard will it be to do that, companies are EASY to find, there is a trail they all leave somewhere.

One thing about many of the ones who crossed the border is I would not call it criminal.  Against the law, sure, but I do not call people doing what they can to get what they think is a better life criminal even if they broke a law to do it.

You entitled to your opinion, but you'll never make a good case for it being "criminal".

If you bring up the stats of the illegals that have committed terrible crimes, that is a separate issue.  There are not millions of illegals committing horrible crimes.

Focus on the closure of the border otherwise all the rest of this nonsense is moot.

You are about 8 years too late.

There is a reason that our borders are like a sieve while our civil liberties get shut down one by one.

A closed border would give to much traffic jam for a four football-fields-wide super highway  :laughing7:

Sssshhhh Nobody knows about that--or who owns it.

PS the only candidate I've heard say he would close the borders and shut down the nau and nafta is Chuck Baldwin, candidate for President of the United States.

Will you 'throw away your vote' and vote for him?  Or throw away your country to the globalists?

If you won't vote the issues that matter, don't complain.

A democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.

In a Republic, the sheep has a gun.

Tony, would you like to be in charge of dictating all the deportations?

The year (1987) I left California 3/4ths of the people in state prisons for felonys were illegal aliens.

The big problem I'm concerned about is radical Muslims crossing the border into our country.

I believe this influx of workers, at the same rate as abortions, is wanted by the government.  They're Christian (RC) and OK workers.  They've helped float the economy by increasing production and consumption.  We need to eliminate the minimum wage.

My questions pertain to whether or not to make certain of our benefits for citizens only, like education and free health care? or would that be wrong according to Matthew 25?  Whoever wants to could come here and compete for jobs.  Make them legal  They just aren't citizens and that should be a high and protected thing to attain to.

Having a gun is not part of the defenition of a Republic.
A democracy means the wolves are debating forever how to cook the sheep.
If all are sheep and are terrorized by a pack of wolves then the sheep will debated about how to solve the problem until the last of them is eaten.

A democracy certainly isn't inferior to a replublic when looking at the influence of majorities and minorities.
The problem is that the day after the elections they forget all their promisses and start pushing their own agenda again.
