Mary and Joseph had gone off and left Jesus behind, they traveled in groups back then and just thought that he was in the group they were traveling with, when they noticed that he was not with them they returned to Jerusalem to find Him. They found Him sitting in the temple among the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions. And all those who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers. When Mary asked Him why He was not with their group and why He stayed behind He answered,
"Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father's business?" (Luke 2:49)
Here we have Jesus's first recorded words, "I must be about My Father's business".
Then Jesus makes this statement in John 14:31
"But that the world may know that I love the Father, an as the Father gave Me commandment, so I do."
What was it that the Father commanded that Jesus do? Let's find out. Let us look at John 12:49-50. Jesus says
"For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak. (note that Jesus is referred to as the Word) and I know that His command is everlasting life. Therefore, whatever I speak, just as the Father has told Me, so I speak."
Now we read in John 19:30 Jesus's last words before his resurrection,
So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, "it is finished!" And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.
Jesus's first recorded word, "I must be about My Father's business." His last recorded word, "It is finished."
He finished His Father's business.

On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, "Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them."By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.
John 20

The disciples then rejoiced when they saw the Lord. 21So Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you; as the Father has sent Me, I also send you." 22And when He had said this, He breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit....
Exactly! As the Father commissioned Jesus, so Jesus commissioned us. And then left us with the Holy Spirit, to guide us.

Interesting, for me, that the first Adam was breathed on to be alive.
After the resurrection Christ breathed on them to receive His spirit.
Enhances the work of Christ as essential.
Plus Christ can be first in everything. Col 1;18
Add in Gal 2;20 This life I live in the body I live by the faith of the Son of God....
Yes he Paid the price and finished that aspect; however there is still an on-going process for our development and character building that will be further enhanced when we are resurrected to the position Christ has prepared for us.
Is indeed all incredible.
