I was thinking about it today, and realized that the view of life taken by ETers (especially of, but not exclusively, Calvinists) is exceedingly more pointless than that of atheists.

Think about it:

Atheism = accidental existence which is extinguished after death.

ETism = created existence which leads the majority of mankind to suffer eternally in a hellhole.

Now, what one is more of a waste? I mean, one that annihilates everybody at death, or one that tortures the majority of creation for ALL eternity without cease in unimaginable agony?

I mean, at least one's pointless existence is erased at death as far as atheism is concerned. But with ET you get a wasted existence on Earth and THEN get to suffer endlessly for it!

Some might say that at least in the ET view some live in eternal bliss, whilst in atheism everybody's lives are literally worthless, but compared to eternal suffering I think atheism clearly is the winner here. It's better off for everybody!!

Because I have no clue what to answer I put on my ET hat and shout heretic you are deceived by satan!

That said whatever the reason of creation we can't stop it.
Loving vengeful or no God at all. What can we do to change things if God wants to have some fun?
So questions like "Now, what one is more of a waste?" are not really valid. Or even useles.
God gave His word. But what can we do if He breaks it. Nothing.
1 Timothy 2:3-4  ...God our Savior;  Who will have all men to be saved...
John 12:47  And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
Romans 4:5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous ...

I know from within how after experiencing the transforming presence of God I was at first mostly with the things I had been raised to believe, including ET, and how much less I loved, God, people including myself, everything of God's creation in fact.  I didn't know it then, however.

But, I can't say anything but the immediate working of the Holy Spirit, continually experiencing His presence in power lifts me out of the vanity of all things and despising and grieving over the life I've had to live (even though I'm trying to be obedient to forget those things which lie behind.)  God manifesting is all that delivers me from not wanting to face the world anymore, its money and its religious people, specially not wanting to suffer loneliness and physical pain any more.

To remember how God saved me from sin and how He has delivered me from believing He was the Ultimate Evil Torturer of countless millions has always cheered me up.  It is good to bring to remembrance those many things He has said and done to me and through me, though I'm conscious of being much more dependent on His Holy Spirit for any memory at all these days.

That is why we must hope.

We are learning how to hope.
