Title: Daniel 9:27
Post by: WhiteWings on April 27, 2010, 08:36:46 PM
Daniel 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice

A possible interpretation:
Jesus' ministry lasted 7 years => 1 week of years.
In the middle of that week He died (cut off)

That has some problems:
I would assume the convenant lasts at least until His second coming. Not just 7 years.
If He dies within those 7 years He didn't confirm the convenant a full week. Just part of it.

So my thought was that Jesus works through the Apostles and that way completes the 7 years.
But the apostels traveled much longer.

So what is that week?

70 weeks were "set aside" for the Jews . . .the 70th week was the end of the period where redemption was just for the Jews.  The day Stephen was stoned marked the end.  That happened 3 1/2 years after Christ resurrected.  Paul picked up the message and went to the Gentiles after that.
