Title: Curious
Post by: micah7:9 on July 28, 2013, 06:08:49 PM
On this forum we all seem to agree on the word "hell" and it's definition.
For me it is the place of the unseen(grave, pit) one can make a bed in it, and or Gehenna where there is a consuming fire, quenched when there is nothing left to burn up. That is My understanding, belief, and most certainly opinion.

Here is my curiousity, where and what is "heaven?"
There is much said of heaven, one can ascend to it. The holy city Jerusalem descends out of heaven from God, a dove(HS) descended from it, as the sound of a mighty rushing wind, heaven is the firmament, a ladder came down from it, heaven will pass away, no man has ascended to it, the Son of man came down from heaven and is in heaven, there will be a new heaven. Some say if a person is good and they die, they go to heaven (note if your bad you go to hell.)

I have to believe heaven is spiritual. It is not a physical local and can never be imo. And I fain from using the word mental yet in my opinion it is of the mind. I would just like to read some thoughts and reasonings. For me, it must be just as important as how we understand hell. Thank you. :HeartThrob:

Thank God that he gave us all opinions, because I am going to share mine.  :HeartThrob:

It would seem that Heaven is not beyond the furtherest galaxy, science has pretty much proved that. Jesus said that the Kingdom of Heaven is in our midst, which leads to the possibility that it is very close. Science has struggled with the thought of there being more than our one known dimension that we call the universe.

It would seem that the Scriptures point to this possibility. What of the dove that appeared at the baptism of Jesus, appeared from another dimension an immeasurably small distance away. This is where I believe Heaven is.

I think the many times events are recorded in the Bible that features people ascending and transcending from the sky another dimension could be key.

Just a thought     :HeartThrob:

I tend to believe as Julie does.  Dimensions would answer many unanswered questions.  Personally, I just want to be there.     :HeartThrob:

Jesus had many things to say about the Kingdom of Heaven, but He had to beat around the bush a bit, not describing it directly, but relating in a parable, "The Kingdom of Heaven is like..."  I believe He spoke in this way because the human language He used was inadequate to the task of describing Heaven directly.

We live in the Visible World - the Kingdom of Heaven lies in the Invisible World, from which, supernatural (only as opposed to natural) things come, whether they are angels, demons, UFOs, or Jesus Himself (who does still appear to people from time to time).  It is probably a higher-dimensional realm, a Universe next door, as it were.

This vid hints at it:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWyTxCsIXE4  To the 2D lady, Dr Quantum exists in a sort of heaven - Above.  No wonder no eye has seen or mind imagined what lies ahead for us in the Kingdom - it is quite beyond our comprehension.

I believe Jesus said, Luk 17:21  Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

Not trying to split hairs.

Okay let me put it this way, we know myths and fables of pagan beliefs, and men's imagination gave us the descriptions that have been conjured up as to what theologly, christianity with it's tentacles of denominations offer believers as what and where hell is with all it's torment....
Where did believers get the images and descriptions that is accepted, believed, and taught as to what heaven is? And that believers are going there?  Isa. 11:6-  Isa. 65:25 (from these verses?)

Psa 37:9  For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.
Psa 37:10  For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.
Psa 37:11  But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

Rev. 21 and 22
"And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
Rev 21:2  And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven,
Rev 21:3  And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

There is my curiosity.  Thanks for the responses. :HeartThrob:

Jesus Christ..as the son of God..is heir of all things...and is due to inherit our earth[the kingdoms

of this world/Prince of this world/ have become the Kingdom of our Lord.Thing is..when Jesus

as the quickening spirit..inherits our earth[Lord of dead and living] He quickens our formerly mortal[dead in

sin] bodies.  He said...destroy this temple and I will raise it on the third day[our bodies are the temple

and if Prince of this world comes to kill/destroy it...the gates of hell/grave shall not prevent the Christ

  from rqaising it.

so..the new heavens..new earth...is Christ on His throne[our body] His thooughts and rulership in our

minds....for He does away with the son of perdition with the coming of His breath...and raises us up

so when Jesus spirit[Christ in you] begins inheriting[occupying] your body...the meek one is

inheriting your earth..where the former one..Prince of this earth/spirit of the world..ruled in pride...

sitting on God's throne[your flesh] saying he was god......

new heavens[with adversary cast to earth] and new earth=inner man renewed day by day

being in the image of the incorruptible one..it is ordained ye not see corruption..but be quickened

in your mortal body and live. And also being in the image of the last Adam from above..it is ordained

that you to0 return unto your Father in heaven at the proper time..and no-longer be known after the flesh

but be changed into a celestial body.

ask oof me,and I shall give the nations as your inheritance...these aare Father's words and promises

to His son.  Christ inherits all things of the Father's....and He is the meek one who inherits us.....

'Look unto me and be saved..qall ye ends of the earth...for Father makes all things new in Christ

For me, the garden of Eden and heaven are one and the same.  Right now we're still living in a cursed alignment.  Before Adam did his thing, I believe the spirit realm was dominant and the natural was secondary.  But the moment he ate of the tree, it reversed the order and until that gets restored, we continue to walk on earth and in heaven at the same time, but can only see earthiness.  The earth groans under this curse and when we begin seeing the emergence of the sons of God . . .the earth will have come close to completing it's natural course set by the Father back in Genesis.

And hell is hear on earth.  IN THIS WORLD you will have TRIALS and TRIBULATION . . . that pretty much says it all.  It's not that I don't believe in hell, I just don't believe it's what religion has trumped it up to be.

Heaven is wherever God is, so that's everywhere.

Hell is wherever God isn't, and that's wherever we keep God out of our minds and hearts.

Didn't David once pray "when I'm in hell, you are there" . .?

No such thing as somewhere that God isn't. Besides being everywhere (omnipresent) in the universe, he is also the only being that is also outside the universe. Being the creator of all, he was here before the universe he created. Scientists don't know what power holds the atoms in the universe together or what causes molecules to form but the Bible declares it is accomplished through the power and love of Jesus Christ. Love created it, love sustains it, love will eradicate the evil released and present in it. God will be all in all. :Chinscratch: :Peace2:

Whether or not heaven is another dimension, I believe it will be as real, if not more real, as this earthly life is to us.  I believe we will be able to see and feel tangible things and places.  I have no specific scripture to back up these beliefs, but I do believe that I have gathered it from the written word as a whole.

Someone mentioned the "kingdom of heaven."  I don't believe this is the same thing as "heaven."  I also gather from the scriptures that the kingdom of heaven is the kingdom over which Jesus the Christ will rule for the millennium, and that heaven differs in that it is actually God's domain.  Again, I am at a loss for scripture references on this belief.  I do not believe that humans will ever simply "go to heaven."  There will be a new heaven and earth created for us to dwell in with the Father.  Remember, as someone has already said above, heaven and earth will pass away.  IMO, since God will dwell with man in the new heaven and earth, the old heaven will have passed away because it will no longer be the dwelling place for God.  The old earth will pass away because it is corrupt, as it is designed for flesh to live in. :2c:
