An effort to recreate the 1918 flu strain (a subtype of avian strain H1N1) was a collaboration among the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology, Southeast Poultry Research Laboratory and Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York; the effort resulted in the announcement (on October 5, 2005) that the group had successfully determined the virus's genetic sequence, using historic tissue samples recovered by pathologist Johan Hultin from a female flu victim buried in the Alaskan permafrost and samples preserved from American soldiers.[59]

On January 18, 2007, Kobasa et al. reported that monkeys (Macaca fascicularis) infected with the recreated strain exhibited classic symptoms of the 1918 pandemic and died from a cytokine storm[60] – an overreaction of the immune system. This may explain why the 1918 flu had its surprising effect on younger, healthier people, as a person with a stronger immune system would potentially have a stronger overreaction.[61]

On September 16, 2008, the body of Yorkshireman Sir Mark Sykes was exhumed to study the RNA of the Spanish flu virus in efforts to understand the genetic structure of modern H5N1 bird flu. Sykes had been buried in 1919 in a lead coffin which scientists hope will have helped preserve the virus.[62]

In December, 2008 research by Yoshihiro Kawaoka of University of Wisconsin linked the presence of three specific genes (termed PA, PB1, and PB2) and a nucleoprotein derived from 1918 flu samples to the ability of the flu virus to invade the lungs and cause pneumonia. The combination triggered similar symptoms in animal testing.[63]

Don't you think truth causes a lot of people to be afraid and that is why so many flee from it?

Otherwise,why would it be in such short commodity?

We are each responsible for searching out whatever truth can be found. The only other option is to believe fables until we become fables ourselves.

You have to decide that for yourself. In fact, you are required to decide that for yourself.

That means being pro-active once you have asked the right questions, and searching out the answers.

Please tell me, if you had the ability to recreate the genetic structure of a deadly flu (not to mention splicing it onto another deadly flu) would you do it?   

What would it take for you to sit in a laboratory and do this?

Donald Rumsfeld's controversial links to drug company behind Tamiflu




The drug company behind the swine flu medicine Tamiflu is at the centre of controversy over its links to former US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld.

Mr Rumsfeld, a former chairman of the company, has refused to comment on whether he still holds shares in Californian firm Gilead Sciences, which developed the drug now being desperately stockpiled by governments around the world to combat the threatened pandemic.

Last night an associate of Mr Rumsfeld said: 'He does not publicly discuss his private finances.'

However, should Mr Rumsfeld have held on to shares in the company, he would be a major beneficiary of the surge in the global demand for the drug. The NHS alone has already purchased enough Tamiflu to treat three-quarters of the population in the UK.

As Im from the UK..its not long come on the National news ( 2 hrs back)about the concern about the safety of this vaccine.,as some believe its not been tested long enough to ensure that it is...Therefore theres uncertainty of its possible long term side effects..for those who can remember the drug Phalidimide , among others, causing tragic effects ... :sigh:

For mine, its not about spreading fear or panic..but possibly making folk aware what MAY\ could  happen..and it has in the past to some degree with Drugs..and for sure ,from experience shared by the the voices of others at Tent, who too have suffered at the hand of drugs... :sigh:
