obviously many people believe in hell, and many call it just, but can a sane man when really thinking about accept this idea, can a sane man call this just?
don´t they know deep in their hart that it is evil and unjust?
they claim, the bible teaches eternal hell - God is just - so eternal hell is just, and human are rotten and have no sense for justice, but is this an argument?

Shall mortal man be more just than God? shall a man be more pure than his maker?
if every sane man can not accept the idea of eternal hell, than can this be the justness of God, there are many people who reject christianity because of the teaching of hell.

I had the same question recently, actually I am frustrated that hell drives many people to insanity and some other people that look sane continue to believe in it.
My personal opinion is that although these people are probably sane, they don't realise how horrible the doctrine is or they are not sensitive.
when i discussed with my father, he was honest enough to admit that it is not just in his opinion and he couldnt imagine God doing something, but he thinks the bible teaches it and says Gods justice is another than human justice and men cannot understand this.
at leasts he believes in soul sleep till judgement day and says now that annihilation seems a possibility in his opinon.
it is a evil thing, that they say hell is not a literal fire, they are able to describe hell in a way that it doesnt sound that horrible, so that you might accept the idea, but it would be horrible just because it would be endless. if it wouldnt be horrible it would be no more hell, and so it would be no longer punishment, eternal conscious punishment is horrible in any way just because it is endless, no matter what kind of punishment it would be.
i cannot respect people who believe something like this.
Well, I also have problems with respect, but I try to think that it's not their fault. Their bible really teaches eternal torment even though it's mistranslated.
yes, put the point that makes me angry, when discussing with my father, that he doesnt want to check this, sometimes Jehova Withnesses visit him, they argue not bad against hell, but he just didnt care. he always knew there are christians who are universalists and that they are not liberal, but he said its a heresy, i quess he never heard any of there arguments.
the fact that they are so ignorant, this makes me angry, at least in german bibles hell has left the old testament in allmost all common bibles, which helps argumenting.
