slay the wicked!

I'm talking to another believer on another forum.  His theology is all wrapped up in OT prophesy.  Seems to take great joy in the God slaying the wicked.  It seems kind of sinister to me.  Something does not feal right about the theological twist.  Here are a few verses of late.

Isaiah 11:4. But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth: with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.

Malachi 4:3. And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD of hosts.

Any help on this would be appreciated.  I'm not big on OT stuff.  Don't get there often.

  Hi ed.............I think it is paramount to understand just who the 'wicked' are.

    when we realize that all men have the free gift of righteousness through Jesus Christ.....

   then we will not accuse our fellow man of being...the 'wicked one' and not fight against

flesh and blood..but powers and principalities in high places.

   now that 'man' in the 'corrupted' state..is blinded deceived without understanding and as a beast

in such a state..and at times even 'joined' to with agreement of the wicked one..an even led

away to his destruction of such...even bearing the corrupt image of the 'wicked'..enslaved of

him to do his will...man is not the wicked one...for God said ...'it is good'

  but that man should learn the value of heeding the word/commands of God...man should learn

obedience through his suffering.  we can learn this two-ways...through disobedience we see

the fruitage of it...and as Christ..who suffered for righteousness sake[suffering for doing the will

of God]

   for mercy and compassion to be developed fully as a fruit of His holy spirit,and a componet

of the spirit of LOVE....suffering[long-suffering] the 'wicked contrast' of this exercize in good//evil

is a necessary 'tool' to develope it.. Without the wicked..there would not be...forgiveness,mercy

compassion  etc....nor would righteousness be shown for it's stellar qualities..

    God is teaching His children through both positive and negative examples.

   through the spirit of deception[the liar] we appreciate the value of TRUTH...and HIM who

speaks it... the spirit of arrogance,pride and haughtiness..is evidenced as bitter..when contrasted

with the mild,humble lowly gentle holy spirit..and it's sweetness of nature..

   wickedness..is as a 'tool/weapon' formed against us...that shall not suceed...for even if it

should overcome us....[the saints were overcome] it developes in us humbleness..and God

.Himself delivers man from he[the wicked one] that is stronger.  Thus man is humbled and

exalts God his saviour.

   so,anytime you read in scriptures about the wicked being destroyed...do not equate

your fellow man with the 'wicked one' but know that your fellow man is trapped,enslaved of the

wicked one.....and manifesting the 'works' of such..as an example. and in contrast..those

with the holy spirit are manifesting the qualities of the righteous holy one.... for allof our

eduction.   for as all men have bore the image of the corrupt..so,too,shall men be delivered

and bear the image of the incorruptible one.

Back in the 70's there was a preacher I used to get late at night early[a.m.] on AM radio out of TX. Waited up to hear him and got work late or tired sometimes. He had a pretty good following his name was David Terrell, and he was just that kind of preacher, a shouter of judgement by God. He could preach a good Pentecost shout and stomp, but it was all OT judgement. We all ate it up back then, but the brother hardly ever mentioned Jesus, he was all about Elijah, Elisha, Isa. Ezk. and Jer. and their prophecied judgments. I think I still have some of his tapes. I feel very bad for the person you speak of, has missed the Love message all together. :Peace2:

Treading down the wicked under the soles of his feet sounds alot like 1 Corinthians 15, when Christ places all things under his feet and eliminates all rule and authority. Your friend assumes the worst about God's judgment, but it results in God being "all in all."

Notice the tool he used to judge the world is "the rod of his mouth." Remember that Jesus said that he himself would not judge those who would reject him, but that his word will judge them. When you look at Revelation 19 you see that symbolism in action: the sword from his mouth removing the flesh. That's a good judgment.

It seems these days that there is a new war or natural disaster every day! For instance, today it's the Ukraine. The prophecy buffs find various ways to wangle that into Ezekiel, Daniel, Isaiah , Zechariah and so on. I have no doubt that God will have His way on the earth as He does in heaven but He is not a cruel entity that has it in for His creation.

I don't pay much attention to these guys, very often, their translations are wrong.

   For me in the earthly sensual and devilish    knowledge of the world is death and destruction , death and more Death   /last enemy of the Cross of Christ       Seems  its  because the  iniquity abound the love of many  wax cold

It been going on in the earthly realm  for ages  and ages    and because the knowledge has increased    from the time of Daniel  12   to the coming of Christ and His open work of the cross  and   to now   ,    more technology    and knowledge   ,  but the LOVE IS WHAT is so much more important  than all the knowledge of good and evil     
Love of God and for Him seems to take the back seat in all the  modern dooms day prophets

I know fear is   as real as Love  is  to experience them   , our battles to me are mostly  within us  and see   the outward manisfestations   of  such warring  within     
  rebellion  against LOVE  and Gods plan  wont last  long ,  the time is short  and we have the Lord to thank for that 

  again I can see the paralles  of Gods word speaking to  two differnt   natures and Spirits  one  is holy the other is   not  , but both are being  given  His Sword / word  AT the same time  , one word of hope/everlasting  the other of doom /end.

not God.   we have to give such 'nature'[carnal] our back..in order to do the will of the Father.

  so we will 'feed my sheep' and not be shepherds that just feed 'ourselves/our carnal natures]

  pouring ourselves out in service to Him...His will..not the will of men.

I just wanted to add one more clue as to  what I am learning now    that goes along with   the satan being  kicked out of heaven  and comes down to our earthly bodies  ,
the heavens  to me is now having the mind of Christ , and we know   what Paul says about that 
in my mind   I serve the law of God , but in his flesh [earthly body ]   where the sin /man of sin  , that  one is turned over to satan for the destruction of his flesh that in the day of the Lord his spirit might be saved
satan adversary dwells in   our earth , this is why Jesus said PRAY    thy Kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven !   some complete  salvation  , body , soul/life  and spirit   all three are mentioned in the Word in differnt places


here is some  scriptures that locks this in for me



For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. 
[got to be a wrathful satan  consuming  his flesh  , remember  how the serpents food was the dust of old adam as he crawls on his belly ?

Rom 7:19   For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. 


Rom 7:20   Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. 


Rom 7:21   I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.

Rom 7:23   But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. 

wow  another law working in his members ??    within himself  that Paul confesses    the need for Jesus Christ to save his body/earth   from  death 
Rom 7:24   O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? 


Rom 7:25   I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin. 
   two laws both being the  two edged SWORD /WORD OF GOD  cutting   between and separating the   two natures !! Hebrews 4 


    I see Paul describing how to save the  body from death , not just the spirit in a man   , using himself as the example   in Romans 7    but here   we see  saving the spirit in a man  in the day of the Lord [return ] 

1Cr 5:5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

I find it awesome that the Lord does indeed drag us to Himself.  Carnally I have worked Christianity in every way that I thought was possible.   I was wrong even carnally LOL.

Romans 7 set me free as a young man.  I memorized it and quoted it to myself and learned the deeper spiritual truths as the Lord taught me.  Enter pride.   

Got involved in a particular ministry that had to be pulled from under my feet.  A specific word to me was that "doctrine was my Lord" as apposed to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.   The Lord seems to target particular spiritual lessons through the years.  Rise and fall like the tide......................

It would be brutal if it was not done with such love.
To see "slay the wicked" and bring it from the carnal to the spiritual, makes me know that the Lords doings, though they seem brutal are really sown in love.

Particulars are funny.  I am being dragged, but my wife is steadfast.  It is the odd part of the particular.  This is way deeper then I can say, so the best word is just awesome.

From where did you get this? Perhaps this what you were speaking of. I may have misunderstood.

Rev 12:9  and the great dragon was cast forth--the old serpent, who is called `Devil,' and `the Adversary,' who is leading astray the whole world--he was cast forth to the earth, and his messengers were cast forth with him.
