:hiya: Good morning! (i said good morning to hubby at the same moment i was typing good morning.. is that weird or what? The Lord is a little funny sometimes isn't He? just a little bit quirky? I'm reminded of how He poked fun of the Pharisees in His parable of Lazarus and the rich man..)
2 Peter 2:12 talks about some very liscensious 'brethren' - brethren because they were at the meetings, but Peter wrote this - "But these, like irrational animals, having been born as creatures of instinct for capture and destruction, blaspheming in what they are ignorant of, in their destruction also will be destroyed,"
https://biblehub.com/interlinear/2_peter/2-12.htm
"destroyed" is "phtheiró: to destroy, corrupt, spoil; usage: I corrupt, destry, ruin;
properly, waste away, corrupt (deteriorate); (figuratively) to cause or experience moral deterioration – i.e. decomposition (break-down), due to the corrupting influence of sin.
And "capture" is from "halósis: a taking, capture"
I can't help thinking that means snared also.(?)
"From a collateral form (whatever that means?) of haireomai; capture, be taken.
see GREEK haireomai -- which link leads to -- haireó: to take, choose; Usage: I choose, prefer.
These things suggest to me that these liscentious 'brethen' were in/on a course toward dissolution/destruction/ruin, WHICH FATHER CHOSE - ?
What do you think?
I truly get the sense like a director of a movie, Father has assigned roles.. BUT, the production is a free flowing, things running their course..
...That He is so wise, and so capable that He can allow thinking, able to reason beings, actually do that 'freely' in that they have the ability to make choices (limited, thank Goodness!) And in His designing and engineering, He is allowing all these choices - other than His - to run their course. While He as "gardener" does some occassional pruning when critical (like a crises? ..greek root of "judgment" ? :Chinscratch: ? interesting; krisis - "judgment")
This to me, seems to suggest better attributes that te ET views of Calvinism and Arminianism - not that i understand them very well - where gee, something went wrong and now Father and Son are trying desperately to save a few..
:Peace2:
P.S. - the Director's movie serving a great purpose - by even letting some of the worst things happen, even, is letting TRUTH be fully displayed - Good from evil (Life from death?) - proving truth. Apart from Him = dissolution to not being, imo. :)
some are called out for destruction it seems while others were chosen for a certain purpose
romans 9
21Does not the potter have the right to make from the same lump of clay one vessel for special occasions and another for common use?
22What if God, intending to show His wrath and make His power known, bore with great patience the vessels of His wrath, prepared for destruction?
23What if He did this to make the riches of His glory known to the vessels of His mercy, whom He prepared in advance for glory—...

and, "A stone of stumbling and a rock of offense." They stumble because they disobey the word--and to this they were appointed.
I read it a many times in many ways and it seems to me that God appointed them for stumbling , all of Israel ?
I think it is so no one can boast and brag that they did anything except what God appointed them to be in the first place
or not :dontknow:

How does anyone learn the difference between good and evil without experiencing both ?
God made us corruptible as weak on purpose to prove His point and make His WORD the only WORD TRUTH
even the spirit is willing at times but the flesh is weak .
To me there will be no glorying except in GOD .
I love that Peter said it would be better if God willed it you suffer for doing good than doing evil 1 Peter 3 ;17 For it is better doing well (if such be the will of God) to suffer, than doing ill. ... For it is better, if the will of God is so, that ye suffer for well-doing, than for evil-doing.
Be cause God knows we have all sinned and fell short of the glory of God at times .romans 3 ;23
if you do not know any better and its wrong no one bothered to tell you the truth ?
I look at it like this , to fear God is wise , but to have faith in God is wisdom at its finest .
fear brings torment , faith does the greater works the Father by hope though love and is making this known to everyone .
