For the land which has drunk the rain that comes often on it, and brings forth a crop suitable for them for whose sake it is also tilled, receives blessing from God; but if it bears thorns and thistles, it is rejected and near being cursed, whose end is to be burned.
(Heb 6:7-8 WEB (R))
A very practical way of showing the benefits of fiery destruction. :)

Revelation 22
17 The Spirit and the bride say, "Come." And let the one who hears say, "Come." And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost.

Ronen and Seth and Sheila: many thanks for your edifying, God-glorifying posts. Thanks Jock for bringing the Gehenna topic...
Scripture verses that come to mind and really bless me whenever the topics of fiery destruction and/or Gehenna come up --
Isaiah 61:3-11 (NLT)
v 3 To all who mourn in Israel, He will give a crown of BEAUTY FOR ASHES, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive PRAISE instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the LORD has planted for His own glory.
....
v 11 The Sovereign LORD will show His justice to the nations of the world. EVERYONE WILL PRAISE HIM! His righteousness will be like a GARDEN IN EARLY SPRING, WITH PLANTS SPRINGING UP EVERYWHERE.
The first time that these verses blessed me was back in 1980... Mt St Helens erupted in 1979... I visited my oldest sister and her husband who were stationed at Fairchild Airforce Base in Spokane in 1980 and, of course, they just had to show me the beautiful lush, green plants, etc. that grew out of all that volcanic ash...
Many a Morel mushroom rises from a forest fire. I do not wish for forest fires, but I do seek Morel mushrooms and if forest fires produce the Morel......should I pray for forest fires so I can maybe find Morels?...perish the thought. Point being fires bring forth good things in the midst of the bad things. :dsunny: Fire certainly changes things.
This makes me think of Mt St Helens in WA State. The aftermath of the furious eruption left complete desolation for as far as the eye can see.
Now, Mt St Helens National Park is green and teaming with life. A wonderful example of death and resurrection!
Jock.
Hi
sa 33:5 The LORD is exalted; for he dwelleth on high: he hath filled Zion with judgment and righteousness.
Isa 33:6 And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the LORD is his treasure.
Isa 33:10 Now will I rise, saith the LORD; now will I be exalted; now will I lift up myself.
Isa 33:11 Ye shall conceive chaff, ye shall bring forth stubble: your breath, as fire, shall devour you.
Isa 33:12 And the people shall be as the burnings of lime: as thorns cut up shall they be burned in the fire.
Isa 33:13 Hear, ye that are far off, what I have done; and, ye that are near, acknowledge my might.
Isa 33:14 The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?
Isa 33:15 He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of oppressions, that shaketh his hands from holding of bribes, that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes from seeing evil;
Isa 33:16 He shall dwell on high: his place of defence shall be the munitions of rocks: bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure.
Isa 33:17 Thine eyes shall see the king in his beauty: they shall behold the land that is very far off.
Isa 33:18 Thine heart shall meditate terror. Where is the scribe? where is the receiver? where is he that counted the towers?
Isa 33:19 Thou shalt not see a fierce people, a people of a deeper speech than thou canst perceive; of a stammering tongue, that thou canst not understand.
Isa 33:20 Look upon Zion, the city of our solemnities: thine eyes shall see Jerusalem a quiet habitation, a tabernacle that shall not be taken down; not one of the stakes thereof shall ever be removed, neither shall any of the cords thereof be broken.
Isa 33:21 But there the glorious LORD will be unto us a place of broad rivers and streams; wherein shall go no galley with oars, neither shall gallant ship pass thereby.
Isa 33:22 For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us.
The highlighted phrases above ask who shall DWELL or live with {having} everlasting burnings but those who do right. That everlasting burning is GOD, the consuming fire. But God is spiritual and HIS fire is spiritual. His fire is the LOVE that is GOD. The indwelling love of GOD in us, being FELT will eventually become who we are and will not ever be able to be "dethroned" in us. Love does NO evil to any neighbor and all is bone of our bone, our neighbor. But when love is a mental concept only, it does not have ETERNAL POWER. We must put on inner incorruption first before the body will be fully obedient. But before that we are to do obedience to Jesus' words "by faith', meaning do them even when we do not want to or think we do not have to.
Bless, donken
