7again, He specifies a certain day--today--speaking through David after such a long time, as previously stated: Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.

13But encourage each other daily, while it is still called today, so that none of you is hardened by sin's deception.

I'd have to say no. Unless God Himself reveal it.. But folks saying so.. i'm very skeptical to say the least! But I do believe His Word provides 'landmarks' which the Spirit of God often is pointing out to us.. but the carnal mind can misread many things(?)

Like I was showing in my opening post, this phrase does not contain a verb in the future tense.  It means the date and hour was not known and continued to be not known AT THAT TIME.

And more importantly it shows who did know and could reveal it - the Father in Heaven.

But let's not be fooled into thinking we CAN'T know.

Regarding Jerusalem we read:

Luk 19:41  And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,
Luk 19:42  Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.
Luk 19:43  For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side,
Luk 19:44  And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.

Who is Jerusalem? - It is His Church. They BETTER know the time of His Visitation.  And I tell you it is very near.

........and even if they know it not.......there is an intercessor....that has criedout..'Father,forgive them...they know not what they do"

    times and seasons......a time to cast away..and a time to gather.   many are 'out of step" with His purpose and times. Those not

  accepting theconclusion ofthe law covenant and the implementing of the gospel/grace...missed out the time of His visitation.

   now....the conclusion of the gospel..for believers...must give way to the salvation of all.

     His 'word' is manna from heaven....give us this day our daily bread. ..bread over two to three days old breeds worms.

.....the kingdom of heaven is like........a woman that went and hid a measure of leavening[grace] in a bowl with three measures of

flour........until  ALL the flour was leavened.

     Faith,hope and love.   Faith in His word He gives and reveals when we hear it...hope in His promises burning and leaping in our

  hearts as He further reveals His will and ways unto us.  AND LOVE!  Knowing that He loves us all...and coming to love and understand

  Him better...and grow in relationship and intimacy with Him...and with our fellow man/brothers and sisters.

    It's a HOMECOMING!   Thank You Jesus,for revealing our Father unto us...for making all of our reconciliation possible,for allowing

ha, well, it has long passed for those being specifically referred to, right? So i would ask whom you think it is "very near" for?

Hi bbyrd009,

You stated "ha, well, it has long passed for those being specifically referred to, right? So i would ask whom you think it is "very near" for?"

My answer, is that it is for Jerusalem.

ok then, a point being that it was as "very near" for them then as it is for us, now, right?

I never said for "us" but for Jerusalem.  So if we substitute Jerusalem for your statement then the answer is YES.

I agree with that.. but not sure how near.. I figure there has to be a world governing (more or less, but more so than now).. also am expecting some sort of limited thermonuclear event(after Rev 7:1-a pause of seal 6) after which things escalate quite a bit(?). How fast(?) idk. A lot of drought challenging the 'benevolent' :eek: world governing when shortages occur so 'peace, peace' disrupted by battles and rumors of battles.. Joel's dry smoky day resulting.. fires turning the moon red.. even lessening the sun's shining by 1/3.. the tares gather for Armageddon around Israel, Jesus returns with angels and in fire (metaphor for thermonuclear; the two harvests of Rev 14, the day's wheat into his barn, and the harvest of the grapes of wrath - final results of this world/imperfection (the dead bodies will remain in our memories fore ever and ever - proving there's only one way (to live). I especially love the parable our Lord told how the Kingdom of heaven is like three measures of meal, bread dough with leaven,until all is leavened - three measures, when I read it, always reminds me of 1 Cor 15:22-28(?) how "as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will live, but each in their own order (becoming one loaf) Jesus the firstfruits(1), then those that are his at His return(2) and then the end when Jesus hands the kingdom over to the Father... so that the Father may be all in all(3).

And especially love the prayer and praise.. :cloud9:

Hi, my best understanding of this passage of being commanded to watch but neither knowing the day nor the hour is to see it in the light of the feast of trumpets, one of the fall feasts (along with day of atonement, feast of Tabernacles) most likely representative of his second coming / return (these perhaps aren't the same thing), just as the spring feasts (Passover, unleavened bread, first fruits, and perhaps Pentecosts though this could be different) were representative of his first coming.

As I understand it the exact day of the Jewish feast of Tabernacles is governed by the new moon, however exactly when it falls as viewed from Jerusalem is also dependent on meteorological conditions (the weather). The high priest must make this assessment every year so as to declare which day the feast of trumpets actually falls on. It can be one of two days.

From https://www.timeanddate.com/astronomy/moon/new-moon.html to explain why its difficult to know the exact day.

So I would suggest those who are watching and waiting at the time will know the season (the fall when feast of trumpets is) but not the exact day nor hour.

That's about right Simmo. But there is another component.
When a boy became betrothed to a girl he went home to build a wedding room for her in his father's house (John 14:2)
He started to prepare a nice room, but it was his father who checked it was up to standard. When the father was happy with the room then he gave the son his approval. When exactly that was only the father knew.
Sure, the son knew his own progress so could make a few guesses. Often this process took 1-2 years (2 millennia?)
The boy was often teased by the people in his village. "Boy are you ever gonna get married?", "When is that room of yours finally ready?". The the boy answered "Only my father knows."

So the verse is two statements wrapped into one. A timing (day, month, not the year) and a wedding declaration.

No but there is 3 1/2 years of prophecy that has to be fulfilled before the return can happen. Prayers for safety of you physical body is supposed to help believers get through that time period and be alive after the wrath of the 7 vials has been poured out on Satan's kingdom and that is the last of sin for ever. Even with that the world is divided into 2/3 being sinners and 1/3 being repented Gentiles

DEUTERONOMY :4:27-31:
And the LORD shall scatter you among the nations,
and ye shall be left few in number among the heathen,
whither the LORD shall lead you.
And there ye shall serve gods,
the work of men's hands,
wood and stone,
which neither see,
nor hear,
nor eat,
nor smell.
But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God,
thou shalt find him,
if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.
When thou art in tribulation,
and all these things are come upon thee,
even in the latter days,
if thou turn to the LORD thy God,
and shalt be obedient unto his voice;
(For the LORD thy God is a merciful God;)
he will not forsake thee,
neither destroy thee,
nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them.

fwiw you might contemplate them as a description of a single person, and one is taken when that wolf does not get fed, so to speak, and the other is left bc that is the wolf we feed. A more Scriptural way to put that might be "you find what you seek, ask, and knock for."

now granted, the vv can also be perceived literally, but you can consider two men in a bed to be a description of our divided nature, our duality, and imo this is the real msg there

yes, pretty much everyone reads it that way, i guess; precluding any that have gone before us from even being harvested, etc, but all i might say there is that the Revelation of Christ occurs in a soul, and we can read where Christ turned down this literal crown that we (the crowd in the relevant passage), and also Judas believe it or not, seek to put on His Head, in more than one place.

the theory there being that Judas had faith in Christ's power, and he just wanted to help Jesus assume the throne, what every Jew wanted, since Jesus was not interested in wearing the physical crown, and had already made that crystal clear to them. Of course Judas must be condemned in the Book bc his behavior must be condemned, but of course he is as forgiven as anyone else, he confessed, he rebounded, etc
Quote from: sheila on February 19, 2018, 08:48:16 PM

well, you can wait if you like, certainly, daughters of Jerusalem, do not awaken love until you are ready, but fwiw i suggest that there is no reason that you cannot Meet Him in the Air today. Where you seek to apply "not taken by surprise" i would apply "thief in the night," wadr! Any positions that demonstrate some knowledge of what will happen to one tomorrow are a lie, imo, and directly argued against in many passages.

Paul's passage about seeking to please God wherever we are right now, that is turned into "Paul said 'absent from the body is present with the Lord'" might be an example:

"We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord."
becomes the least bad of many worse translations, as the Lex reveals:
"We have not only made up our minds, i say, but also wish that we were already dead and partying with Jesus;"

http://biblehub.com/lexicon/2_corinthians/5-8.htm
and i have lost the connection of "confident" to "made up your mind" again now, just had it in Strong's the other day, but it might easily be seen how the common translation violates "we do not yet know what we will be," "today has enough in it, don't be dwelling in tomorrow," and etc., many others.

"So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it." ha, as if, right
"However, what we should be doing is seeking to please God here and now." (which can slowly be pieced together by reading many various translations, also)

any notion that one is guaranteed some future state based upon an altar profession made once, umpty-ump years ago, is strictly a product for sale to the deceived, wadr. Anyone who tells you that they know what their existence will be in the future is lying to you. Samuel's statements to Saul through the Witch of Endor are ignored, in that pov. The dead know nothing is ignored. I could go on at length here. No one knows where they go when they die
is ignored.

God had already hated Esau for denying his birthright, but of course that is also turned into some lesson for the deceived, even though they do not read the Bible lol, so Esau becomes spiritually unavailable to a seeker as soon as they profess, day 1, rather than being a lesson for a seeker

  With all due respect bbyrd009   everyone born of woman under the law ,[  this is every human being ever created  by God  ]is being led   to Christ   and every knee will bow  and every tongue will confess  to God ...

That is where everyone is going , now or later   each in their own order as they are called according to Gods purpose .  dead in sin [ dead  works ]or dead in Christ [ living works ] everyone will  be tallied up  ..

10Why, then, do you judge your brother? Or why do you belittle your brother? For we will all stand before God's judgment seat.

11It is written: "As surely as I live, says the Lord, every knee will bow before Me; every tongue will confess to God."

12So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God....

Matthew 12:36
But I tell you that men will give an account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken.

Matthew 16:27
For the Son of Man will come in His Father's glory with His angels, and then He will repay each one according to what he has done.

2 Corinthians 5:10
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive his due for the things done in the body, whether good or bad.

Galatians 6:5
For each one should carry his own load.

1 Peter 4:5
But they will have to give an account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.

  There are always  two ways   and it cuts both ways ,  the Two Edged Sword / Word of God   separates  and divides   death and life and all things are yours  to experience .

1 Cor 3 Worldly Wisdom

18Let no one deceive himself.

If any of you thinks he is wise in this age, he should become a fool, so that he may become wise.

19For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God's sight.

As it is written: "He catches the wise in their craftiness."

20And again, "The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile."

21Therefore stop boasting in men.

All things are yours,

22  whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world ,or life or death or the present or the future.

All of them belong to you, 23and you belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God.

This  is  everyone  inclusive  born of woman  under the law of sin and death   in Adam /mankind   , they still belong to God    regardless   of their blasphemies and denial  all the way kicking and screaming  against God  , they   are going   to   and will give an account   .

  Should God have mercy on them  , the same way you were given mercy  ?   This would be the question of the hour .
What makes anyone better off than anyone else ?

  God did not deal with them the same way he dealt with you ?   Does this give anyone a right to judge   anyone else ?

   It seems a righteous   judgement  would want mercy on everyone  ,  so they can  obtain mercy also from GOD , He is no respecter of persons  .  Making His love pretty unconditional  in that respect .

  Remember   that those whom are forgiven much , love much and those forgiven little   love little .

How does God measure   His love , but though forgiveness ..  God is love and the source of  that power  to forgive  sins .

  Luke 7 A Sinful Woman Anoints Jesus

...46You did not anoint My head with oil, but she has anointed My feet with perfume.

47Therefore I tell you, because her many sins have been forgiven, she has loved much.

But he who has been forgiven little loves little."

48Then Jesus said to her, "Your sins are forgiven."...49But those at the table began to say to themselves, "Who is this who even forgives sins?"...

God has placed everyone in disobedience so He will have mercy on all

Romans 11 31so they too have now disobeyed, in order that they too may now receive mercy through the mercy shown to you.

32For God has consigned all men to disobedience, so that He may have mercy on them all.

33 O, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable His judgments, and untraceable His ways!...

To me the confusion is death still somewhat reigns in the hearts of mankind   still bound up under the law of what is good and what is evil , Till Christ  comes than  the truth will set them free ...     :dsunny:

That might not be the right group to be a part of.

M't:13:39:
The enemy that sowed them is the devil;
the harvest is the end of the world;
and the reapers are the angels.
M't:13:41:
The Son of man shall send forth his angels,
and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend,
and them which do iniquity;

Re:19:17:
And I saw an angel standing in the sun;
and he cried with a loud voice,
saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven,
Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;

Lu:17:36:
Two men shall be in the field;
the one shall be taken,
and the other left.
Lu:17:37:
And they answered and said unto him,
Where,
Lord?
And he said unto them,
Wheresoever the body is,
thither will the eagles be gathered together.

M't:24:28:
For wheresoever the carcase is,
there will the eagles be gathered together.

Gentiles left behind walk to Jerusalem and they all enter from the east so they can drink the living water from the river in Eze:47 before they reach Jerusalem. That is like their 40 fast that Jesus went through and then He was with the ones He baptized when He returned for 40 days.

:dsunny:

Amen! ..and literally (imo) because all believers are raised at His return (as we know, 1 Thess 4 and 1 Cor 15).. I believe there are survivors of whatever calamities man has managed to carry out; and, or of God's judgments (which I think are one and the same thing)... These natural survivors will "learn truth" - but then some will follow the deceiver when he's "let out of the pit" (of darkness) "after the thousand years" (after the millennium)... but that doesn't last long. Then the "rest of the dead" rise (also "after the thousand years") are raised.. the earth giving up its dead.. the seas giving up its dead.. And John saw the great and small all before God's Throne.. "And every knee shall bend.. every tongue confess God!" ..."All the ends of the Earth will remember and turn to the LORD, and all families will rejoice before Him." Ps 22:27

And then John saw the New Jerusalem, and the very throne of God, and God Himself will dwell (tabernacle) with man upon Earth made new (in universe made new, no more law of dissolution, fading; no more loved ones 'gone'). As in Adam all died and even so in Jesus (all things in heaven and earth gathered into Jesus, and in Him) shall all live, but each in their own order, Jesus the firstfruits; then, those that are His at His return.. and then the end, when He hands the kingdom over to the Father, and death is no more, the last enemy vanquished, that God may be all in all. And a river clear as crystal flowing from the throne with trees on either side with twelve manner of fruits, and the lion will eat straw like the ox and the bear graze with the cow.. All persons under their fig tree and grape vine.. [There's an idiom about that line, but I don't remember what it is.]

That might not be the right group to be a part of.

M't:13:39:
The enemy that sowed them is the devil;
the harvest is the end of the world;
and the reapers are the angels.
M't:13:41:
The Son of man shall send forth his angels,
and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend,
and them which do iniquity;

Re:19:17:
And I saw an angel standing in the sun;
and he cried with a loud voice,
saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven,
Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;

Lu:17:36:
Two men shall be in the field;
the one shall be taken,
and the other left.

Interesting.. I know it says some will 'carry some of Israel' to Jerusalem.. And the verse about a highway for the suvivors/those left of the land? I can't remember the wording..

"And a highway shall be there, and it shall be called the Way of Holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it. It shall belong to those who walk on the way; even if they are fools, they shall not go astray." (Is. 35:8) The first verse of the chapter = The wilderness and the dry land shall be glad; the desert shall rejoice and blossom like the crocus

   where everyone is going , now or later   each in their own order as they are called according to Gods purpose .  dead in sin [ dead  works ]or dead in Christ [ living works ] everyone will  be tallied up  ..

10Why, then, do you judge your brother? Or why do you belittle your brother? For we will all stand before God's judgment seat.

11It is written: "As surely as I live, says the Lord, every knee will bow before Me; every tongue will confess to God."

12So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God....

.. Verse 10 - "we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. 11 - As it is written - As surely as I live, says the Lord, every knee will bow before Me; every tongue will confess to God." :doh: ..the closeness of those verses..

  so sorry  these posts are wayyyyyyy  to long ...
   I do get carried away  :laughing7:

I love  His Word so much   ,it is like  an addiction  :sigh:

Eat my body and drink my blood that you may have Life in you   , craving some Life   in Christ   , and can hardly wait    till God be all in All   ........     :girlheart:  thrilled actually

  Thankful for the book of Revelations  and Johns testimony witness to the   Lords Day when He was in the Spirit    and explained how all this goes down   in the 1000  year reign of    Our Lord Jesus  Christ    revealed   as the WORD OF GOD  fighting for us all  over   all  evil forces   from the works of Satan  and   of Babylons  destruction  and it is finished.....

  GODS Word  says so by His Spirit  :banana:

30When Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, "It is finished." And bowing His head, He yielded up His spirit.

   Rev 15 The Song of Moses and the Lamb

1Then I saw another great and marvelous sign in heaven:

seven angels with the seven final plagues, with which the wrath of God will be completed.

2And I saw something like a sea of glass mixed with fire,

beside which stood those who had conquered the beast and its image and the number of its name.

They were holding harps from God,...
