  I used to seriously believe ET! First 25 years of my life!!  Even with more than a decade, during that time period, of studying the whole New Testament as much as 18 hours a day. :faint:

:bdh:  Those of you who've come into UR from an ET background: you, yourself, and you used to believe this ETERNAL torment nonsense as well   :mrflo: :LH: :mlaugh: :LH:

Okay, so maybe I should have said the Horror Flick of the day, instead of the joke of the day!!  We used to believe this!

For those new to the website:

UR = Universal Reconciliation, or Universal Restoration; other terms and an abbreviation for Christian Universalism.

ET = Eternal Torment, i.e., the doctrine of ETERNAL punishment, ETERNAL separation, ETERNAL death, etc., though sometimes Annihilationism is meant by ETERNAL death in some circles.

Annihilationism = the belief that the wicked will simply be blown out like a candle on judgment day and won't exist any more for all of eternity.  Usually a perversion of the KJV English word "destruction." (a belief of some 7th Day Adventist groups and Jehovah's Witnesses, among other groups)

Any chance anybody at these boards has come into UR from an Annihilationalist background?

I know this is an old topic, but I just read it. In answer to your annihilation question, hear, hear!

At least under the Eternal Torment paradigm, there's the hope that one day God would have compassion -- although while you're under that paradigm, it seems blasphemous to consider the remote distant hope.  But under annihilationism...uh...."and then there were none!"  :mshock: :dontknow: :mshock:
