Hi all,

I'm so glad to have found a forum like this. I've been a Christian for ten years, since 20 but not really enjoyed a minute of it. I'm still labouring under the feeling of brutalised desolation I felt after telling my father that he was going to hell and then a couple of years later watching him die, being on different sides of a chasm of understanding.

I'm now fairly convinced that Jesus is the saviour of all men, but I can't get excited about it because it seems that the damage has been done. I think I'm still shell-shocked. There's perhaps an analogy with Jacob exclaiming that he would go down to the grave in sorrow after Joseph's 'death', then grieving for 20 years needlessly: all takes time.

Anyway, nice to meet you all. Thanks for the posts and fresh opinions.

Best wishes,

tm.

The damage can be cured.  Your dad isn't in hell, theres no such place and you will have forever to right your wrongs and vice versa.

Welcome.  Learning the true love of Jesus is like having healing oil applied.

Romans 5:18 Consequently, just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all men.
19For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.
20The law was added so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more,
21so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
