No, I don't think it's a big deal.
Writers have pen names, and I don't see anything wrong with it.

Nothing wrong about using a name other than your legal name, loke at our forum board names right here, very few are using their legal names as their board name.

Just like Sprrow said writers and authors of books have been using pen names for a long long time.

It was humorous I knew someone who combined their last name with another name, his last name was really  Ferris and so he used  the name
"Ferris wheel"  named after a carnival ride
for his board name when he posted, I remembered this when you said you were using the name Ferris.
