Not so fast, say contributors to the Conservative Bible Project.

The project, an online effort to create a Bible suitable for contemporary conservative sensibilities, claims Jesus' quote is a disputed addition abetted by liberal biblical scholars, even if it appears in some form in almost every translation of the Bible.

In the verse Jesus asks forgivenes for unbelievers. That obviously not what ET scholars like to read.

it's reworking scripture to support a particular political or social agenda," said Timothy Paul Jones, a professor at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky., who calls himself a theological conservative.

Accusing others of biased translations sounds like a joke when the translator is religious...

Take the famous passage from Luke: the Conservative Bible Project omits it not only because it's "a favorite of liberals," but because there's some dispute over its authenticity, based on the manuscripts it appears in.

Jones, the professor, said while some early Greek manuscripts omit Jesus' words, others include them.

Pick and choose.
I heard this claim a year ago. The problem, imo, that almost everyone has his own agenda. But even if the verse is added. It doesn't matter in the slightest.
Yes UR has one verse less to show it's glory. But we got plenty of spare one's.
Neither does it prove something ETish.

Do they mean that the passage from Luke isn't authentic in the literary sense or in the historical sense?  If what they are implying is that this passage wasn't in the earlier manuscripts, then who cares?  If it was added into later manscripts, it had to come from somewhere.  Remember, there were oral traditions about Jesus circulating as well as written ones.  These guys are just trying to cause a stir.

Yes, just another translation is exactly what it means! that's all we need, a few hundred more translations, manipulated, alterated and tweaked ,added to and taken away from in letter how many times?

Yes, Jerm, I believe possibly more was carried foward oraly than what was even possible to be written down in books on many things Jesus did and said, also it is said that the letter kills, only the spirit gives life.

I took a look at their conservapedia.com site. NOW I understand better what they're about:

"Support for Israel" played its part, too, as greater numbers of Evangelical Churches, along with the Jewish communities of the Diaspora, saw that being faithful to the God of Israel entailed faithfulness also to the new nation of Israel, itself a fulfillment of prophesy. And it is so today. In the times of the the most turmoil and threat of war and terrorism, such as during the two Intifadas, and the most recent "Second Lebanon War", it has been the Evangelical Churches which have enabled the continuance of the Israel tourist industry.  (-Now they call it "tourism!!")

Yes, Christendom is still shedding innocent blood even today. In Jesus' name!

Yes, I agree

The fundamental church religion and traditions of keeping man made doctrines in all these organized churches SUCKS BIG TIME!!   Leave it to Religion abiding to the literal letter of the OC laws given to the Jews and greatly added to by the Pharisees complicate  simple trust in the faith of Christ and Grace being sufficient revealed in Spirit and in Truth in the now  and shown in the NC for all mankind Jew and Gentile alike into one NEW MAN, the old is passing away and must pass away instead of  continualy being ressurected by religionists and Politicians who do this in the lust for power, money and control over others religiously and politicaly.
