What does "spiritual" mean to you

In another thread, this comment was made by a member here, and it has me thinking:

"the second covenant is spiritual".

What does the second covenant "spiritual" mean to you?

seems to me that some think it is a journey from the "old covenant to new covenant", but in an "inward way"?  ie: that one must walk through the "spiritual old" to the "spiritual new"?  ie: an inward journey (for example an inward walk from the outer court to inner)

as if being in the "spiritual" new covenant is an inward walk of the "literal" that happened from pre cross to after cross and for some, the destruction of the temple in AD70.

Hope this makes sense.

Either way, I would love to hear what you all see as the spiritual new covenant being and the process.

thanks

Molly

1 Corinthians 15:45
And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

7And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
--Gen 2

21For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whom he will.
--John 5

12But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

13Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

--John 1

so how does this apply to you specifically?  Were you specifically the "last Adam" until the quickening?

Once one is  quickened, what is the "spiritual" growth process, or is the "quickened" the completed product?

Does the growth process "mirror" the "literal" events that happened; ie: a walk from "outer/law court to inner", even though it is while under the umbrella of "new"?

Not everyone would agree with me, but I'll try to describe how I see it.  I consider myself more of a quickened spirit [like what I consider Adam [not Eve] to be] then a quickening spirit.

A quickening spirit gives life to others.  Occasionally, I can see myself doing this by the response of others.  We only have the downpayment of it now, some more than others, but I am looking forward to the fulfillment of it, like Paul, where the quickening spirit will consume body, mind, and soul.

Romans 8:23
And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

I think the whole Bible, from beginning to end, mirrors this process that we go through internally.

:cloud9: That would be me.......are you born again? Then you celebrated Passover. Were you baptized in His Spirit? Then you celebrated Pentecost. If those two were "celebrated" spiritually in this covenant and not that you went out and slew a lamb and ate it, ect. then you know the new covenant is implemented spiritually. The Word you "eat" as it is quickened or made alive/resurrected in you, becomes part of you, a passing from the letter that killeth to the Spirit that giveth life.

If these 2 are celebrated spiritually, then having begun in the Spirit, are you now made perfect or complete by the flesh? No. So we know Tabernacles is also celebrated spiritually, and the conclusion of it redeems our mortal bodies. There is a walking out of things in this priesthood that affects the "outer court" people. Blessings.....

Hey Zeek,
Spiritual simply means love. It does not mean figurative or un-physical.
Giving a glass of water to a thirsty soul is spiritual and is a spiritual experience.

But it is love that is found in God's possibility (heavenly) as opposed to a natural position of a confidence is an independent from God, human potential.

So the natural covenant dealt with things performed in an independent human potential.
Like making a temple or circumcision or trying to keep the law for righteousness. Or trying to save yourself through your own good works like the rich young ruler.

Mat 19:16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?

Mat 19:26   But Jesus beheld [them], and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

The old covenant was the scaffolding for an independent human potential.

Deu 6:25 And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the LORD our God, as he hath commanded us.

The New covenant is the love of God manifest in Christ and the firstfuits. It is the agreement of God's love historically seen and historically recorded "my words shall never pass away". It was God's possibility that was the focus and not an independent human potential.

This is where love has limitless potential.
The typical barriers of love are things like our own efforts to try and prove something about ourselves as an attempt to define ourselves for ourselves and before other both in our own minds and in view of others. Love cannot effectively flow through this kind of stuff because it has a separate agenda.
A lot of this had to do with how law and performance works between the ears. As opposed to knowing love without conditions and how that love consciousness works outwardly from the inside.

In summation then I would say the love is the answer to what is spiritual and the essence or meaning of the new covenant.

:cloud9: Amen........His Spirit IS love, which is the motive of His heart and what leads us as everything is done within and without (covering of gold of the Ark as type), via baptism in water and in HG, by the direction of the Spirit.

There is also a false understanding of His love; His love, which has nothing to do with a mental assent to do "good" according to carnal measurements, or a perceived emotional state, because it exists as a Spirit independent of any external actions or reactions. In other words, WHATEVER He does, IS love, irregardless of our own limited perceptions of it, because His Spirit IS love.

The tabernacle is the pattern of the heavenlies as Heb. 10 tells us, a natural framework that encompasses understanding on literally everything below the firmament, whose design and functions were meticulously dictated by the Spirit of God, to show forth a pattern whereby we in conjunction with the Spirit might co-labor to build Him a house made without hands, ie. eternal wisdom from above. A wise woman (soul) builds her house with wisdom. For we know that if this tabernacle (house of our body) were dissolved.....

This is why the 9 or 10 verses in between what you quoted in Matt. 19 have to do with being born from above and the works of the Spirit in sanctifying the "house" that are impossible for man to do, as is being caught up into our heavenly mother, which is New Jerusalem from above. Blessings.....
