I had a conversation with an ET believer last night, and he told me some things like that we're living in the End Times, Obama is the John the Baptist of the AntiChrist, the EU is the Revived Roman Empire, that people are sticking computer chips into people and that that's the mark of the beast and that Spain has turned its back on God and that North and South America are going to become one country, and it's really depressing and confusing me as to who's right. HELP!

Gab

People have been claiming that we're in the End Times basically ever since Jesus was crucified.  No matter how many doomsday scenarios are quashed by reality, there will be a thousand more that pop up by people determined both to live in fear and to make everyone around them get dragged down to their level.

The bottom line for me is this: if we are, we are; if we're not, we're not.  Why waste time being afraid?

And what if the endtime starts next week AO?
You are on the winning team.

This reminds me of the saying: Everyone want to become old but noone want to be old.
Same for this situation: Everyone wants Jesus to return but noone wants to see Him returning.
:2c:
1 Timothy 2:3-4  ...God our Savior;  Who will have all men to be saved...
John 12:47  And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
Romans 4:5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous ...

Andromeda_Organa,
many of these things might be true...and only a fool will not realise that there are currently things happening in our time which threatens even the survival of humankind...BUT, there's also a positive aspect of this...for Jesus said to us that when we see these "signs of the end times" appearing, that our salvation is at hand...

if one thinks about it,  it makes perfect sense...the adversary is running around like a madman trying to devour God's children and entrap us into all kinds of evils, for he knows that his time is up...that's why things will become very confusing and "out-of-hand" before our Saviour returns...this is well documented in the prophetic books ie Daniel, Jeremiah, Isaiah, Revelation to name a few...the old and corrupted must give way to the new...the new wine cannot be held by the old skins

Lol they said Bush was the antichrist, then it was Blair, Saddam, Bin Laden,  now it's obama, then they 'proved' they were antichrists by doing silly things to make their names say 666.  You get used to seeing such 'rubbish' after a while and learn to trust what Jesus said -

Matthew 24:36
"No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father".

All we need to be concerned about is accepting the Kingdom like a child, loveing each other and not becoming polluted with the rest of the world.

Have any of you seen this video?  Obama is the Anti-Christ?

http://www.usnews.com/blogs/god-and-country/2009/07/30/popular-youtube-video-obama-as-antichrist.html

When will this crap end?  You can "prove" just about anything (good or bad) with the Bible and here's just one more example of "proof".  Jesus said that Obama is the Anti-Christ! :mshock:

In the 80's, Christian Liberals said Ronald Wilson Reagan was the anti-Christ because there were 6 letters in each of his names forming the number of his name as 666. Rev13:18: "Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six."  Well, looks like another failed prophecy, aye?!  :mshock:

Now let's talk about given names like "Mark", you know, the author of the  Second Gospel.  Mark means "consecrated to the god Mars".  Mars is the pagan god of war who is obviously not serving the true God.  So by the reasoning of this video, all of Mark's Gospel is satanically inspired. Geesh!

And here's another little tidbit.  The name "Hussein" is an Arabic and Hindu/Indian name which means "good", "handsome" or "beautiful".  I guess the clowns who made this video just over looked this little fact. :mblush: :mshock:

So the President's full name, Barack Hussein Obama, means good or beautiful lightning from above – kinda like rosered's avatar!  Since the Bible attributes all goodness to God's Spirit, it looks like Obama's name could easily be interpreted as a Blessing rather than a Curse! I report - You decide! :laughing7:

Hey, I didn't vote for Obama but this video is a crock.  And it's my guess that it was created by a misguided, right-wing Christian.  Right wing fundamentalist are just as dangerous as their left wing counterparts.

But, that's just me....

We should all use our God-Given ability to reason to discern both good and evil (Heb 5:14) and hopefully we will learn to desire the good and despise the bad (Rom 12:9).  If you think this video fosters ones search for the truth – that is your right, but I think it is unadulterated baloney!

The mistake they are making, I think, is in thinking there is only one antichrist.  But, this is also what they have been taught by the false prophets.

1 John 2:18
Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.

1 John 2:22
Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.

1 John 4:3
And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

2 John 1:7
For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

"antichrist"
G500
ἀντίχριστος
antichristos
an-tee'-khris-tos
From G473 and G5547; an opponent of the Messiah: - antichrist.

It probably will never end. However, the degree that many take it seriously will change when people in mass stop attending churches and sending money to the idiots who say things like what andromeda heard.

I agree Paul H – sad, methinks. :sigh:

Hey Miss Molly:  Not to put words in your mouth, but it appears that you do think Obama is at least "an" Anti-Christ or has a Spirit of the Anti-Christ?  If I have misread you, please correct me. :mblush:

I'm not an Obama Fan but he is my President and I do pray for him, his family and our Government (God knows they (and we) need it), but Obama has NOT denied Christ – quite the contrary.

In a TV interview, I saw and heard him say that He believed that Jesus died for his sins and he has accepted Him as his savior.  He belongs to a Nicene Creed-based, Christian Church.  He has not denied Jesus or Our Heaven Father.  I don't think he meets the qualifiers in the 1 John verses your quoted.  Therefore, based on the Bible, I don't see how Christians can claim that he is the Anti-Christ or even has a spirit of the Anti-Christ. :dontknow:

I've heard him say it quite a few times very affirmatively, very boldly, very firmly, very unflinchingly, and very dogmatically.  That's one thing he won't play with, is where he, himself, stands on Lord Jesus.  He's not the only current candidate under consideration for leadership of E.U. and I wish mainstream right wing Evangelical Christians would get off their high horse, look and think before they speak on that.

If any of us were under consideration, would that suddenly make us either the beast or false prophet of Revelation?  Or would that just mean they see gifting that they want to exploit or a potential for unity and wise governance of their agendas and intents?

Consideration for a job doesn't imply already having the blood of millions or billions on your hands, and presupposing the Hal Lindsey school of thought to be partially right, not that I am, but for the sake of discussion, Lord Jesus didn't come when Julius Caesar was in power.

The Roman empire had been around at least a century before He came.  And assuming a 7yr trib or whatever, there's nothing to tie it to anything in the rest of this century that's Biblically set in stone, even presupposing the futurist's interpretation of the book of Revelation.

Israel in Scripture and the destiny of the Body of Christ and the place of the Revived Roman and Revived Islamic empires in Scripture don't emphatically overlap on the time schedule of the Tim LaHaye crowd.

And even if they did, there is no Biblical basis for picking up stones against Obama just because he's caught the attention of some that would like to see him as leadership or even the leader of the E.U.  Consideration for a job isn't the kings of the East coming to make war against the Lamb and His armies and attempting to push Israel into the sea.

That fairy tale misreading of Scripture for sensationalistic ET reasons, as well as monetary reasons to keep the machine of religion well oiled and funded on threats, psychological harm, and control of the arm of the flesh has got to come to it's end in our day. I believe that those that labor in the Word and in doctrine are worthy of no less than double financial recompense as St. Paul teaches, but not for the spreading of that dung.

Thanks for not putting words in my mouth.  I could remind you that anyone can say anything, that many atrocities have resulted from people who called themselves 'Christians' [e.g. the Inquisition], and that you will only ever truly know them by their fruits.

So, look at their fruits, not at what anyone says.

Talk is cheap, especially for a politician.

I agree with your example of the Inquisition and that we should look at the Fruits.  But I also agree with Martin, in that I'm not willing to doubt the man's repeated confessions of Christ - at least not yet.  We shall see ...

Raggedy Anne

Well, just for the record, I did vote for Obama and I do pray for God to give him guidance and I do not in any way consider him to be an anti-Christ.    However, I think politics on a Christian discussion forum in today's climate is bound to lead to all kinds of ungodly division, so that's all I have to say about that.
