I am personally leaning towards a belief in UR but have doubts. I am a member of the forum http://discussions.godandscience.org Hell and UR are hot topics over there, UR is under the title abberant christianity

One of the moderators is a man called B.W Melvin. he claims to have had a near death experience where he went to hell. I have been dicussing and debating with those on the site as my conscience tells me that there cant be a hell. but what he says here seems to make sense. Its hard because on both sides it makes sense, thats why peopel believe it on both sides I guess, anyhoo just wondering what people make of B.W experience

Claims from NDE's are dubious at best.

The mind is a powerful thing, and it will see what it wants to see.  That those who are deathly afraid of hell see hell is thus no surprise - but it also does not mean by any means that hell is real and that such people actually went to hell.  After all, how eternal could hell be if people could escape it and then be redeemed?

Now what interests me is the way he speaks . Why does he have to PEAK in the text written on a shelf in order to know what to say ??

B-B-bbb because god ( peaks to see what it says ) does that and is the su ..su s..( peaks again . )

This guy never said enything about hell . He just says that we all might find our selves at a place where we will cry out to God . And he simply says that we can do this today instead of having to do it out of being desperate .
He also has proof of what he says .
Even if i am not still straight with this being called God ,I would still rather believe this guy than someone that cant really say enything without reading it from a speach on his plate .

Are you catherine on that forum?
1 Timothy 2:3-4  ...God our Savior;  Who will have all men to be saved...
John 12:47  And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
Romans 4:5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous ...

Catherine is my mum!

As to all the replies about him reading from a script, I think maybe he was nervous and as he believes in a literal hell he would have a certain amount of anxiety that he needed to speak well to make sure people came to Christ (that is just my opinion).

I do find it amazing that all of the things he saw were confirmed by scripture. (or an interpretation of scripture at least) I presume he thinks that what he saw was hades, where the rich man was sent, but then he also believes in the lake of fire.

The thing that struck me most was that the devil gets to have a great time in hades!

Many people are when speaking in front of a camera/public. So nothing special.

QuoteI do find it amazing that all of the things he saw were confirmed by scripture.
The thing with NDEs is what to believe? He can just as easily use the Bible as a guide to write a totally fake NDE. In that case the NDE confirms the Bible instead of the other way around.
The 23 minutes in hell book/NDE is picked apart on several sites owned by hell believers.
That book also uses scriptual references. At first read they are correct but when looking beneath the surface they are unscriptual.

So basicly God lost the battle is a big way. Satan is much more powerful than God.
According to ETs 95% ends up in hell. And as a reward Satan can have fun with the lost for eternity.
And the mighty Creator....? Well He can have fun with teh 5% that Satan wasn't able to steal from Him.
Somehow I think something is a bit wrong :laughing7:

He sent me these scriptures,

Matthew 12:31, "Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven people, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven...." ESV

Note that there is a sin that will not be forgiven because of this universalism is not true... sorry...

(Please Look up these verses as well...)

Hebrews 10:29 -- Matthew 5:22 -- Luke 12:5 -- Proverbs 14:32 -- Isaiah 3:11 -- Jeremiah 32:19

Romans 2:6 -- Job 34:31, 32, 33 -- Isaiah 26:10 -- Proverbs 26:11 -- 2 Peter 2:22

This was my reply:

Some biblical translations say that they will not be forgiven in/for the age. So there are views that even that scripture shows that even the worst thing you can do to God will not condem you forever. That there is nothing that will put you out side of his love, mercy and forgivness.

Hebrews 10:29 how can there be degrees of punishment if people are cast into the lake of fire for eternity, it will be the same amount of fire for the same amount of time. That is if the lake of fire is forever. the jewish faith sees Gehenna which jesus mentions in Mat 5:22 and Luke 12:5 as a refining fire as jews thats what the people Jesus was speaking directly to would have understood it as,refining fire. Jesus does not mention when speaking about Gehenna how long they will be there  .

Prov 14:32, this does not dispute UR, it is speaking about Hades.

Isaiah 3:11 it does go badly for them, they live in sin and darkness.

Jeremiah 32:19, again doesnt dispute UR in this life people get rewarded and in the next they will to, so you will be rewarded more than one who will 'himself be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames' 1 corinthians 3:15

Romas 2:6 doesnt dispute UR, why does the pay back have to be eternal?

Job, what ever happens to believers that stops them from sinning again when they get into heaven why could this not happen to everyone after they have confessed jesus is lord?

Isaiha 26:10 this is true now but one day they will perceive the majesty of the Lord and it will cause them to bow their knee and give Him glory.

Prov 26:11, 2Peter 2:22 are you basing that this is talking about the wicked's fate in eternity based on your hell experience? because I cannot verify that. The wicked do that in this life, they are slaves to sin in this life, but once God has done away with sin how will anyone be able to be a slave to it anymore?

What about John 12:47?

hope I did a good job,

First, hell isnt in the bible.
Second the man didnt 'die', if he had died he would be dead, so we can conclude that his brain was working overtime.
Third, i've heard of thousands of stories of people's NDE's (including children) who went to heaven and I would sooner believe what children say about such things.
Fourth, when we are die we dont go anywhere (according to scripture), at least for a while (ressurection) because we are DEAD.
Ecclesiastes 9:10 >>
Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the grave, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.

This is probable just more Evangelical scaremongering ramblings of a corrupt money hungry preacher (no doubt he has his little book out about his 'experience'), because it certainly isn't scriptural, and if he is 'saved' according to his own evangelical teachings, it's unlikely he would be sent to 'hell' (which again doesn't exist because it was mistranslated).

Read the other verses also....   will not be forgiven for the age
Plus even it is is not forgiven that doesn't mean the punishment will be hell.

All you really need to say is "why not quote the rest of the verse?"

"...will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come."

Whoops!
