Gotta Love Origen

Well, today in my Early Church History class, we spent the whole time talking about Origen, mostly his work On First Principles.  The fun part came when we started talking about Origen's universalism.  The professor went through an explanation of it, and then to my surprise, began explaining that this "wasn't as strange as we might first think" and that "when you look at the consistency of it, universalism seems to make quite a bit of sense." He didn't outright say that universalism was true, but I was very glad to see that he, along with most of the class, at least considered the possibility and logic of universal salvation.  Gotta love it!

I obviously wasn't there, but his use of the word "seems" is perhaps telling?
I sincerely hope he does see the logic of it and isn't just being diplomatic.

He probably wouldn't even say anything about it being logical or not if he didn't actually see the logic in it. He could have simply explained the idea without saying whether or not it was logical. Sounds like he's sincere to me.  :bigGrin:
