The parable of Lazarus and the rich man:

Some will say that this is not a parable, but that is how I see it. The parable does not start with Lazarus and the rich man; it is part of a much larger parable that starts in Luke Chapter 15:

Matthew 13:34  All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them:

I wonder that verse is about that certain occasion or so for all public speeches of Jesus....?
1 Timothy 2:3-4  ...God our Savior;  Who will have all men to be saved...
John 12:47  And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
Romans 4:5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous ...

Hi BRO T. aka White Wings ,,,,,,
Glad you brought this up !!   the  irony of it all LOL!

We do read Luke 15 and see how much it is all saying the same things

but   Jesus was speaking to  certain ones who were of the lost sheep /scattered  of Israel   basically his  disciples /students
He was teaching a new and living way   for others it was not given  those being the self righteous  Phariseesand saducess  those aways trying to trap   Jesus  in his word  by the Law / ministration of death /sin

so  for some it was given to KNOW the mysteries of the Kingdom / Life
and otherw it was not given    , making the  True  Word being the fist shall be last and the last shall be first  , many are called but few are chosen

they are chosen to become  apostles / teachers  of His same  /teaching doctrine of Life  over death  :HeartThrob:   maybe I explained it  wong , but I gave it a shot lol   rose
Jesus is the reward  !!

Aiming at the  :HeartThrob: again Cupid? :robinhood:
(hiding for Mr. Rose now :mshock:)

Seriously now.
I was looking for a more direct answer. I'm not sure but I think I read somewhere that Jesus always spoke in parables to everyone expect when in private with the 12.
That was the thought I got when AngelMom wrote "Some will say that this is not a parable, but that is how I see it."
Such a verse would totally remove all doubts about this being a parable or not.

LOL ! Oh Bro T ! now you know I want to  be plain and s :HeartThrob:   simple  hee hee !

but DIRECT  :dontknow: ha ha ha !    well Jesus did Chose  the  few from all  matter of  life
Matt the tax collecter   was dispised by  the jews and the gentiles hee hee  , it was his line of work ya know lol...  not him directly per se'

and Pete was so  ready to spring on ya if you did not agree with him lol
he even  jumped on Jesus  for  telling Him he would DIE on the cross
and Jesus said get behind me satan / adversity , it was his words  that got  ol pete into trouble
they ,  the chosen few 12, had a  hard time understaning the Lord at times even  when HE SPOKE TO THEM PLAIN AS DAY !  :HeartThrob:

Jesus is the reward  !!

Probably the closest you could come to that is:

Mat 13:34  All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them:

Mar 4:34  But without a parable spake he not unto them: and when they were alone, he expounded all things to his disciples.

To me, though, that fact that this series of stories begins with: "and he spoke this parable unto them" removes any doubt (for me) that all of these storied (whose themes are connected) are parables... or part of one large parable connected to salvation and the kingdom of heaven. All of the other stories in the series (before and after) are accepted as parables, so why this one is not is beyond me. Why would Christ suddenly stop speaking in parables when he comes to this one story in a series of related stories/parables?

I'm sure of that. But I've seen reasoning that all but RaL are parables. Anthing with fire is literal in a ET mindset.
The verses are at the start of a set of parables you wrote. Could very well be true. I'm not arguing with you. But others will.
And in such cases a very direct verse that states clearly that all public teachings where parables would be very helpful to debunk such claims.
BTW even that backfires (pun intended) with ETs. They even see the words Gehenna (Hades, Sheol, etc) as one word parables. Like Jesus used earthly wheat and sheep to describe spiritual things He used eartly Gehenna as a way/parable to describe ET-hell.

So even a dozen of ultra direct verses won't work I guess :sigh:
1 Timothy 2:3-4  ...God our Savior;  Who will have all men to be saved...
John 12:47  And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
Romans 4:5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous ...

Chris

No argument from me.

We all know that real names are never used in parables.  :laughing7:
