It's human skin and we're still wearing it.

They were already naked in Gen 2:25, and they knew they were naked after eating from the tree in Gen 3:7.

What is interesting about the coat of skins that God makes for them is that it is a covering for their nakedness.   He puts  the coat on them, as we are later told to put on Christ [like a garment] in the New Testament.  The word coat is the same word used for Joseph's coat of many colors.  Whatever it is, it is only skin deep--it is a covering.

So we have two suggestions for this coat, the snake and the lamb--but I have always seen it as a protective and tender gesture of God for the man who has become so much like him.

"coats"

H3801
כּתּנת    כּתנת
kethôneth  kûttôneth
keth-o'-neth, koot-to'-neth
From an unused root meaning to cover (compare H3802); a shirt: -coat, garment, robe.

"of skins"

H5785
עור
‛ôr
ore
From H5783; skin (as naked); by implication hide, leather: - hide, leather, skin.

"and clothed" [them]

H3847
לבשׁ    לבשׁ
lâbash  lâbêsh
law-bash', law-bashe'
A primitive root; properly wrap around, that is, (by implication) to put on a garment or clothe (oneself, or another), literally or figuratively: - (in) apparel, arm, array (self), clothe (self), come upon, put (on, upon), wear.

ww,

No one has debunked anything. especially you or claypot. I don't respond to responses that lead to rabbit trails.
You are a scared little boy Lee.
Everything you have no clue how to answer is a rabbit trail.
Each and every post of you has been debunked. The problem is you don't even have the guts reply to the answers.
And in many cases I doubt you even read the answers.
Quickly dump your view then run away.
Have a nice day on your rat trail.
1 Timothy 2:3-4  ...God our Savior;  Who will have all men to be saved...
John 12:47  And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
Romans 4:5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous ...

molly,

I totally disagree with the skins being a snake. God had to kill an innocent animal(lamb) to atone for the wrong Adam did. Without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin. It is a perfect picture of the atonement that Jesus Christ will do 2000 yrs later at Calvary.

They first attempt to sew fig leaves together  to make an apron for their nakedness.  (The fig tree is a symbol for Israel, and the aprons makes one wonder if this is where the masons got their idea for an apron).

If God is going to replace this covering, wouldn't it be with a better one?

But, then I see Adam as the first high priest offering himself as atonement, the only thing he has to offer for Eve's sin.

But two offerings are necessary from the high priest for atonement, one for his own sin and one for the sins of the people--

6Now when these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God.

7But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people:

--Hebrews 9

Hebrews 7:27
Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.
