ages 13 through 32

I started this thread to discuss why Jesus' earthly existence was not mentioned/recorded in the bibical scriptures around the ages of 13 through 32.

Isn't it interesting that Jewish tradition has the boy becoming the man at age 13 -- Bar Mitzvah (Hebrew: בר מצוה, "one (m.) to whom the commandments apply")

What does this mean for us.....I don't know about you all, but JUST my teens and 20s have been some pretty "testy" times in my/anyone's life.

Any thoughts??

The only thing that comes to me is that His past and our past is not that important.  It's now.

I do have some thoughts about this that have struck me before.

I believe unlike the catholic traditions that Jesus was very obscure in life for a season for a reason. I dont think like they do that he was running around raising birds from the dead and stuff haha like he was pracitcing for the 'big time'. nah
I believe that Jesus was living life as a man of no reputation. And I believe this is incredibly important for us to know. Our Father loves to live everyday life in obscurity thru us! He loves what seems to be so mundane to us. He loves being in fellowship when we are also of no reputation, just living our day to day lives in relative obscurity.

This is a powerful thought! God, whom created all there is, whom is all powerful, all soverign, all love ,.............and the list goes on..........lives enraptured to be with us in our everyday existance. He loves to fellowship over washing the dishes, holding babies while they sleep and smiling at them. He loves it all! Every moment is rapturous to Him as we are His children.

I just know this is so cause sometimes He peeks thru to my knowing and I sense that smile when all is just so normal. Im not doing some great spiritual thing, not out saving the world but doing my dishes when suddenly I know His hand is in mine.

That sounds inspired  :girlheart:....thanks for sharing Kept. :cloud9:  Perhaps those moment are special because those are the times that we lose ourselves in that brief moment.....and forget our troubles.....and know that all is well.

For me.....what is really neat to think is this -- Only that which is good in our lives is retained in Him.......or remembered in the end, and brought forward into our new beginning.  :HeartThrob:

There is one account that shows Jesus being left behind, :pointlaugh: LoL by his parents and was missing for a whole day, I battle to buy Luke's story.  Who in their right mind will leave an carnival/fairground w/o making sure their offspring is definitely taken care of/present and accounted for but I guess we need to see another lesson there.

So what did Jesus do?  I guess that is not revealed as we all become parents and have to deal with the rebel within, maybe God's way of getting back at us for our rebelliousness.  I am sure He was studying the scriptures but I would like to think he enjoyed His childhood and teenage years.  There is much in the OT as to the pangs of growing up and He would experience it too.

At 30, people start taking you seriously and will tend to listen to you or at least give a semblance of an audience.  We know of David's youth and how blasé he was when he met Goliath.  I would guess Jesus' life was similar.

Somehow I appreciate my rebellious past, make you really appreciate what you were missing but then again, this part of growing up is life skills that enables you to relate to others.
