I am Jim Morgan. I am married, have four sons and am an ordained minister. I do not at this time preach anywhere and don't have a church or anything like that.

The orthodox view of hell is repugnant to me and I believe it's repugnant to God's Word. I also hold non-orthodox views regarding Satan, demons, devils or whatever you call them. I also tend towards preterism in my eschatological make up. So I guess you can see why I don't have a church. ;)

Admittedly I find myself uncomfortable with Universal Reconciliation. Since before Bishop Carlton Pearson made his big splash I have been studying it. It makes sense. It lines up with Bible. I know the arguments, but for some reason I have a very unsettled spirit about it.

I am here to gain understanding and make a few friends. I will update my profile with all the pertinent information. Thank you.

I personally don't exactly agree with Carlton Pearson's version.  I believe scripture teaches more in line with Thomas Kissinger, Gary Amirault and others that say Jesus is the Savior of the world, but each will have their individual moments of the Holy Spirit's visitation upon them, i.e., being saved/being given the faith to believe on Jesus...personally, not "just" universally - some now, the rest later (each in his own order, per Apostle Paul.) 

"What must I do to be saved?  Believe ON the Lord Jesus, and thou shalt be saved" (Acts 16)

It may take a bit for things to "settle" into your spirit.  Seek the Lord. He will lead you into truth.  Welcome, God's blessing, James.

I think we need to proclaim Jesus to the Buddhists and Muslims (and everyone).  Does Carlton do so, or does he more so tell them they're "OK" because of Jesus, i.e., all roads lead there so "don't worry, be happy"?  I'm not sure, I'll check it out more  :dontknow:.  I do know Gary has an article on Tent expressing concern that Carlton's version is "too soft", perhaps (my words) too ecumenical.

Maybe part of what bothers you Jim, is an absolute (more unitarian) universalism that teaches an "all roads" mentality, Jesus will fix it all so it doesn't matter...that bothers me, and I think there's significant error in that message.  I do believe in ultimate reconciliation, but that God wants His Son proclaimed and believed on now (to those He gives ears to hear/eyes to see)...not just pat everyone on the head and tell them "I'm OK, you're OK".

Anyway, Jesus is the Savior of the world...John 4:42.

I agree. Unitarianism is NOT UR. WE ARE  all ok., eventually. But that's soley because of the Cross. Just because Christ is the savior of the world does not change that fact that only in him do we experiance life through the living Spirit, and forgiveness of sins.

When I first started studying UR I was at first: super excited, then a bit uneasy, then doubtful, and now I'm back to basically believing whole heartedly in UR again. What has really helped me, is asking: what really IS TRUE love?
