Also known as "secret" or literally, "close-keep"
Many "secrets" are revealed to us in Scripture. I think it's important to look at where the word occurs as well as what the "secret" is. Not all secrets were created equal. Some were hidden in God "before the disruption of the world"
When the Apostle Paul reveals the secrets entrusted to his ministry, we should pay close attention, as he was the Apostle to the Nations.

Paul was not only granted special emissary status to the nations, he also was active and had much influence among his fellow Jew.  The same of Peter:  although his apostolic service was to the Circumscision, He was the one miraculously sent to the nations.  Before going to Cornelius' house he fell into a trance state and saw a sheet like vessel come down to him filled with all manner of unclean (unkosher) animals.  The voice said, " 'Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.'  But Peter said, 'Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.'  And the voice spake unto him again the second time, 'What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.'  This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven." (Acts 10:13-16, AV)

God is no respector of persons, specially when it comes to race.  This was Peter's conclusion based on his vision and experience in going to Cornelius' house.  "Now Peter, opening his mouth, said, "Of a truth I am grasping that God is not partial, but in every nation he who is fearing Him and acting righteously is acceptable to Him.  Of the word He dispatches to the sons of Israel, bringing the evangel of peace through Jesus Christ (He is Lord of all), you are aware..." (Acts 10:34-37, CLV)

Some doctrines rebuild the partitioning wall that was torn down by the death of Christ, refusing His work on the cross in dealing with the old carnal man.

Heed carefully what God is saying here concerning Jew and Gentile:  "...the nations in flesh -- who are termed 'Uncircumcision' by those termed 'Circumcision,' in flesh, made by hands..." (Ep 2:11, CLV)  These are the two parties discussed in the following:

Ephesians 2:13-19, (CLV)...
13 Yet now, in Christ Jesus, you, who once are far off, are become near by the blood of Christ.
14 For He is our Peace, Who makes both one, and razes the central wall of the barrier
15 (the enmity in His flesh)
, nullifying the law of precepts in decrees, that He should be creating the two, in Himself, into one new humanity, making peace;
16 and should be reconciling both in one body to God through the cross, killing the enmity in it.
17 And, coming, He brings the evangel of peace to you, those afar, and peace to those near,
18 for through Him we both have had the access, in one spirit, to the Father.
19 Consequently, then, no longer are you guests and sojourners, but are fellow-citizens of the saints and belong to God's family...

What about making the twain into ONE NEW MAN don't you understand?

The standard definition of a "mystery" in the N.T. is, "Something that was previously unknown that is now revealed through the gospel."  That lacks something I've discovered through experience.  These "secrets" stay in the realm of poetry, parables, and, what the prophet was forewarned of those who would show him love, "...thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear thy words, but they do them not." (Ez 33:32, AV)  Jesus says to those on the outside everything is in parables.  The 12 Mysteries stay hidden until the Holy Spirit initiates us into them  That must also be a continual revelation or we revert to the carnal mind, which is normally unaware of itself for what it is.  This continuous revealing of the living God is what produces the enlightened mind of Christ.  The worldly educated natural reasoning mind is the thing that God uses to snare and destroy those that receive not a love of the truth.  "For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness." (1 Co 3:19, AV)

Let me add, that we are entering a time when, instead of defeat in death or retreat in a falsely promised disappearance, the two wisdoms will become as Moses' staff became a serpent swallowing up the serpents of the Egyptian sorcerers.  Various things surround God's appointed confrontation, "When I have...raised up thy sons, O Zion, against thy sons, O Greece..." (Zech 9:13, AV)  God says He will do it.  (I feel His mighty power!  Glory to God!!  Hallelujah!!!)  This is first enacted within.  Then, "Judgement must begin in the house of God."  The lies against His Majesty must be revealed, uprooted and replaced with the truth.  Jesus is the Savior of all!  This is happening now.

Ephesians 1:9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
10That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:

5Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
6And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.

7For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

8And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

9Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

10And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

2 Thess 2

"mystery"

G3466
μυστήριον
mustērion
moos-tay'-ree-on
From a derivative of μύω muō (to shut the mouth); a secret or "mystery" (through the idea of silence imposed by initiation into religious rites): - mystery.

[of] "iniquity"

G458
ἀνομία
anomia
an-om-ee'-ah
From G459; illegality, that is, violation of law or (generally) wickedness: - iniquity, X transgress (-ion of) the law, unrighteousness.

"Musterion anomia" seems to refer to secrets kept by initiates of a religion, in this case, a wicked religion. It seems that these are not randomly wicked people, but groups of people working together for the cause of wickedness.  The word 'musterion' seems to be used for those who are part of a group who know 'secrets' that are not known to those who are not initiates.  We see this among the disciples, as well, for which reason Jesus spoke in parables to those outside the group of intiates so that the secrets of the kingdom of God would not be generally known..

.

Matthew 13:11
He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

James, is that some weird quote or did you just make it up?  Either way, it's weird:

Lee, sometimes we do wander a little into our own individual happy places, but just bring us back on topic :)

Proving my point that revelation comes at different times, by different means to all of us! :laughing7:

:cloud9: roflol.....Just the fact it says there are mysteries in the Word, should be enough to pry those that choose to cling to the literal word in there from off the Rock to walk in the Spirit/on the water (Rock that was smitten brought forth the water). But as it says, each man in his own season. Blessings....
