Hi, I'm new here. My wife & I are on a journey to find a church, and to grow in our faith. I appreciate your teachings on Hell. I had at one time went to a SDA church a long time ago, and always appreciated their teachings on Hell. I'm still confused about the concept of which day is the Sabbath though, what is Tentmaker's teachings on it?
Also, I am in North-West Central Florida, and am wondering if there are any churches in our area?

I don't know of any TM teachings on the Sabbath day.
I see plenty refrences/commandments about the Sabbath day throughout the Bible in weekly, 7 year and 49 year Sabbaths.
Besides pagan origens I see no command to switch to sundays.
Maybe there is some verse that could be read as 'switch to sunday' but then I wonder why the so very important concept of saturday is changed to sunday with an obscure verse and no clear teaching.

Hello, welcome.  No condemnation, we are to receive each other as we all live in our conscience before God.  Paul said one esteems a day over the other, some don't.  I tend to lean toward the latter, believing each and every day is a day I am to seek the Lord and attempt to walkly humbly before my God (often fail, but I'm just sayin' that's what I believe and trying to do.. :bigGrin:...with His help).

Anyway, I withdrew my membership from a Southern Baptist denomination, still do attend on Sunday mornings with my wife as a "bridge"/compromise of sorts with her...she sees UR, but still hasn't felt called out of institutionalized religion.  I think we may consider seeing what the local Methodist congregation is like, they have a contemporary service, in which our son may be able to continue his bass playing in praise and worship.

Anyway, finally, Jesus fulfilled the Law, and fulfills it in our heart.  I'd say you do what He leads you to do by His Spirit...if you feel held to a certain day, pray to Him about it and make sure that's Him and not your own feelings, thoughts, or man's traditions.  He will lead you.

Hi Jamie -

I am a neighbor of yours - I live in the Panama City, FL area.   There are many, many churches in this town.  None that embrace UR that I'm aware of.

p.s. The Unitarian Universalist church here welcomes people of all faith traditions.    I've never visited it.   I would find it a challenge to join a group like that however because it is like everyone speaks a different language in a semantics sense.   I would rather go there than to a hard-core fundy Christian church though.   I try to avoid organizing religion.

 :cloud9: Hi again Jamie. This is what one of my friends forwarded me from a third party who knows. They did not name the churches, but perhaps if those cities are close to you, you might be able to find enough info in the yellow pages to help you?

This is what my friend replied...

There is one in Tarpon Springs (St.Pete Area) (Central West) One in Orlando (middle of state) One in Jacksonville (East) and one on 9 mile rd. Pensacola (West )

I'm quoting Jab because I too belive in the sabbath as an everyday spiritual experiance, to rest and to grow in God. I'm going back to a "church" this Sunday to compromise with my wife, who loves to worship in song. She sees UR as well, but is waiting for God to truly speak to her in His own time about it. Anyway, glad to have you.
