So, tell me, are we to worship the cross or the living Savior?

Bit of a trick question.
Surely we must not worship a cross itself because that are just a few pieces of wood.
I think the worship (of the cross) is about what it symbolizes.
Depending on the religion it symbolizes different things.
- Sun worship
- Satanism
- The works of Jesus

Indeed, but I was thinking along these lines:

Jesus answered him, "It is written, 'YOU SHALL WORSHIP THE LORD YOUR GOD AND SERVE HIM ONLY.'"

And Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about Him spread through all the surrounding district.

And He began teaching in their synagogues and was praised by all.

And He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up; and as was His custom, He entered the synagogue on the Sabbath, and stood up to read.

And the book of the prophet Isaiah was handed to Him. And He opened the book and found the place where it was written:

"THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS UPON ME,  BECAUSE HE ANOINTED ME TO PREACH THE GOSPEL TO THE POOR. HE HAS SENT ME TO PROCLAIM RELEASE TO THE CAPTIVES,  AND RECOVERY OF SIGHT TO THE BLIND, TO SET FREE THOSE WHO ARE OPPRESSED,  TO PROCLAIM THE FAVORABLE YEAR OF THE LORD."

And He closed the book, gave it back to the attendant and sat down; and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on Him.

And He began to say to them, "Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing." (Luke 4:8, 14-21)

Yeah, the Cross symbolizes what God did at the Cross:

15 Who is the Image of the invisible God, Firstborn of every creature,
16 for in Him is all created, that in the heavens and that on the earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones, or lordships, or sovereignties, or authorities, all is created through Him and for Him,
17 and He is before all, and all has its cohesion in Him.
18 And He is the Head of the body, the ecclesia, Who is Sovereign, Firstborn from among the dead, that in all He may be becoming first,
19 for in Him the entire complement delights to dwell,
20 and through Him to reconcile all to Him (making peace through the blood of His cross), through Him, whether those on the earth or those in the heavens. (Colossians 1:15-20)

Yeah, the Cross symbolizes what God did at the Cross:

Good that you two wrote that. I wanted to mention it too but thought it was kinda 'not done'
Don't worship the Son but the Father only.
That makes me think why the religion is called Christ-ianity. And not something more directly linking to God Himself.
Pehaps it's because the meaning of words/names is (somewhat) lost in translation.

Hey Curly, if we haven't chased ya away yet . . .and the conversation tweaked your interest in where the cross actually originated . . .may I suggest that you looked up the word "laminin" in any dictionary that also has pictures . . .it'll blow your mind . . .the cross has been around (in this realm) since the creation of man.
