Yup, that's it!  'cause it was something that would stimulate the stem cells to do the job.  Thanks for the links, WhiteWings!!  I believe it's a recombinant form of parathyroid hormone.

Adult Stem Cells Improve Diabetes Now!

In a Stem Cell research study that is being published today in the Journal of American Medical Association (JAMA), Adult Stem Cells have been used to help patients with Diabetes Type 1.

20 of 23 Patients Helped With Their Own Adult Stem Cells
23 patients who were newly diagnosed (within 6 weeks) with Diabetes Type 1 were first given chemotherapy to dampen their immune system, then they were given their own stem cells taken from their blood.

Of those 23 patients, 20 "reduced or ended dependence on insulin as their bodies took over production of the hormone." Of those 20 patients, 12 of them were off insulin for a long period of time, while 8 relapsed and went back to taking small doses of insulin.

The stem-cell technique "remains the only treatment capable of reversing type 1 diabetes mellitus in humans," wrote the paper's senior author, Julio Voltarelli, and colleagues at the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, and in the U.S. Use of Adult Stem Cells "in the hands of the FDA"

Unsurprisingly, Dr. Richard Burt of Northwestern University was one of the stem cell doctors who authored the clinical study and luckily he added a little more insight- ""We work 24/7, and we're getting there as fast as we can. It's now in the hands of the FDA"

In the hands of the FDA?  Why do you have to be such a killjoy Dr. Burt?  You just killed all hope I had of seeing this available in the United States.

Speaking of FDA, another doctor, Dr. Christopher Centeno, involved in Adult Stem Cell research has formed a doctor's group who are challenging the FDA's silly rules that a person's own stem cells are drugs. A group of laymen are also joining the cavalry and if you are reading this, I recommend you join them– go to www.safestemcells.org

Yeah, the FDA seems dead-set against anything that actually works.

Catch-22 on the FDA with the new executive order from the White House to move full speed ahead on anything that'll actually work in stem cell research.  FDA's likely a moot issue now on much of this and people are going to get the help that they actually need, as soon as they come up on Obama's radar as the holdback on much of this good stuff.  And before Molly comes up with the news articles on it, those aren't necessary.  The White House website has the executive order on it.  Even if not all are agreeing with much of what Obama's been doing, and even if some are fiercely disagreeing, I'm genuinely loving the new tranparency of the new administration.  Not sure if that's ever existed, even with the heroes of the Presidency of yesteryear:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/the_press_office/Removing-Barriers-to-Responsible-Scientific-Research-Involving-Human-Stem-Cells

Anyone wishing to email President Obama can from the website, rather than to go into a rant here where nobody here's going to be able to do anything about anyone's upset about him.

And when it comes to his handling of the former administrations torture tactics, I'm understanding the arguments on both sides for this, but again, there's at least been transparency with the new government and proof of the very thing that many hundreds of thousands of Americans absolutely hated Bush for over the last 6 years.  Coming down with prosecutions wouldn't really keep something like this from happening again, and would just be as much a media circus as it would be the burning of people that were only following orders rather than the burning of the folks that gave those orders.  And the smile to America's enemies would be just a bit too big for my tastes.  For those who haven't heard, Obama's supplied to the public much more proof of the horrendous torture tactics used by the former administration and has said that we're not going to fool with this with prosecutions, but by coming clean neither are we wanting for commentators and historians to make the situation bigger in the eyes of the public than it was:

It would awesome to be sowing seed then look up to see a big speeding harvester right on my heels harvesting faster than I could sow, even so what does that have to do with an alternative to the current financial system?

Are you saying we need to go to a farm supply and equipment retail outlet and purchase speeding harverters?

It actually came about in response to a post by Martin which basically said that we are not going back to a place we have already been, but we are going on to something new.

Given the advances in the biological and medical sciences in recent years, that could certainly be true.

We already have the technology (suppressed) which would give free energy to everyone, plenty of food for the entire world (suppressed),  and now we are developing the technology (also suppressed) which would allow much much longer lifespans as all major diseases are cured.

So that's the context it was brought up within--abundance and a new age.

But, first--people have to want it.

Not native to Texas, then?
I've always been just a liddle different from the twangers.  Perhaps the hispanic heritage and that I never got into the cowboy whatchamacallit down here type of culture.  I also, oddly enough, never grew up around many native Texans although I was right across the street from 'em and their next door neighbor all my days, theoretically.  In school, on the job, at Church, and elsewhere it would always wind up being someone that I was around from Brooklyn, California, Lousiana, Colorado, Canada, from the UK, from Africa, Mexico, etc.  Some of that is likely because of people's business interests and that I'm by one of the really major international airports.  The uniqueness of Fort Worth's cultural district probably also makes twanging like an out of tune guitar optional.  Don't get me wrong, though.  If the right girl for me would find it a particularly endearing quality, I'll watch nothing but Dukes of Hazzard episodes until I'm Bo Duke. :icon_jokercolor:

Believe it or not, not as bad as you're thinking.  I genuinely hear worse spanish from hispanics around me and although I've grown up with the language for 34 years, even I get tongue tied on it much too often.  Had a job interview quite a while back and my spanish came up and they asked me to speak to them in spanish and I suddenly drew a blank, right when it seemed like getting the job would hinge on it.  30+ years was nearly meaningless when it counted at that moment, but after the look of embarassment for a little while on my face as I was at a total mental blank, it finally came and I at least asked what they were wanting me to say in Spanish, in Spanish, and we went from there for a small convo in Spanish.

I weave in and out of having good Spanish.  Depends on whether or not I'm having much reason to speak it in that season.  I've enjoyed 2.5 to maybe 3 whole novellas on Spanish television, yet when dealing with relatives I can immediately retort with "huh?" or "in English PLEASE!!" 'cause I'm standing there absolutely clueless for whatever reason.  Then go from there and find something interesting on TBN's Spanish Enlace channel and watch the whole thing. :dontknow:  Maybe dialects and more than one way of saying stuff is what keeps tripping me up.  As well as not always understanding the slang, where I can genuinely mentally translate it, but it sounds stupider than anything until someone tells me that in Spanish, that's the saying for the English equivalent of such and such.  And I'm like, oh, okay.  Came up alot recently with having enjoyed the novella "Fuego En La Sangre" and then I'm on the phone during commercials going "huh??"  Or, I'd be laughing while watching it 'cause I'd be all "SO THAT'S HOW YOU SAY THAT!!" right in the middle of the show.

And I'm not going to give an example. :mblush:  Just think something soap opera related. :laughing7:  But quite a few of 'em weren't in the having to use greater discretion than mentioning that on these boards department.  I just honestly don't remember what some of 'em were right now.  If I remember a couple before the end of the day, not sure that my spelling in Spanish on the boards would be the greatest.

I'll elaborate more later, but the gold standard and national sovereignty would be lifesaveres.  All fiat currencies come to and end eventually.  As I said, I'll elaborate later, but our big problems are:

1.) A Federal Reserve bank that can not only print money willy nilly, but it can also artificially control interest rates, inflate bubbles, etc.

2.) Fiat money.  Austrian economics is an amazing study on this.
