Hi newbie here (not UC but genuinly interested in learning)

Hi Everyone.

My name is Suzy I live in the UK. I am 28 married with four girls.

I came across your forum by chance really only a few days ago but after reading some of the replies on the threads posted.
The Matthew 13 thread about the Wheat and the Tares really struck me in particular.  I have been really intrigued to find out more.

I go to a Roman Catholic Church.  I know the Catholic  church is a church a lot of  other Christian groups have concerns about.
Which is fine. I know that any of the concerns people have come from a place of love and wanting to pass on things they feel deep in their own hearts.

I do have some issues with the church. Hell being a big one.  I've always had my own views on Hell and Sin which probably go along with the way alot of the posters here think.

Reading different Bible translations such as "Youngs" has kind of validated in my own heart that the way God has awakened in me that His mercy is boundless. He is compassion and love to me.

As a family we read the Bible everyday during prayer time. And have always listen to the Spirit in my own heart above and beyond any church "rules" doctrines" etc... And I always will.

So that is about all I think  :bigGrin:

I look forward to learning more.

I can't say I'm a theologian  :bigGrin: And I know that there are many people here who have a gift for interpreting scripture.

No matter what the differences seem to be on the outside. I find that it never does any harm to return to the first two commandments.

I have Catholic roots too. I think it's just as pagan as real pagan religions. But I only blame the leaders for that. Not the members that most likely are as God loving as those of other denominations.

To be honest I'm pretty much an open minded person and enjoy learning from others. 
I think differences between people can sometimes help with personal growth so long as love ( according to the first two commandments) remains the abiding precept.

I have to admit that I have found alot of great fellowship, support and some really beautiful people in my church and there are many aspects of catholic teaching that have helped me on my way. But I could never say it was the only way.  Or the way for everyone. God leads every one of His children to Him in the way that is right for them I think.
I do worry that some aspects of the church doctrine can become a stumbling block. For me I know that going to the church I go to is the right thing for our family at the moment.  Still the counsel of the Holy Spirit is what guides my day to day journey in faith.

My mother often called my sister Susan 'Suzy Q' when she was young.   So that's the first thing that came to my mind when I saw your name. 

It is so good to see a British soul here - they seem to be so rare!  I think Americans have a reputation with the Brits as being overly religious and not very intelligent (a.k.a. - they think we're dumb because so many of us still believe in God).  But I get that perception from having been in circles of atheist poets probably.   I digress. 

I've known many a precious Catholic Christian.  And I've always looked at Catholicism with a sense of fear/fascination.   I think though that all of our various peccadilloes in the faith are odd.   I feel the same sense of fear/fascination with a good number of Protestant Christian churches :-)

I love that American's have such strong faith in God.  England has become very secularised over the last few years particularly which is sad I think.
In the US, it seems, faith is such a part of life. It's an everyday thing.

I often end up chatting with Christians from the US and have met some great folks.... Like you guys  :happy3:

My mind works a little differently . . .to me Suzy Q is a cupcake . .or a version of it . . .I think it's more like a cupcake sandwich actually . . .much more enjoyable for me than listening to an oldies song that I always thought the author just couldn't come up with actual lyrics, so he just kept repreating the name over and over . . .who knew that it'd be such a huge hit :dontknow:

I think all Suzy's get called SuzyQ eventually don't they! It's just gotta happen!!

I guess that is where I'm coming from too Chuckt! A place of unanswered questions. In many ways I get a lot from the church but my heart naturally leans away from alot of the teachings too!

I'm trying to learn how to "listen" to the small, still voice of God in everyday life.

I think the view you have about God can really effect how you  recognise His voice. That is why I love the idea of CU in realizing that God is a compassionate and loving Father above and beyond anything else.
