It also might be said the other experience of OBE's  is a twin experience of NDE'S

Apostle Paul even spoke of this, aware not to mention himself, he said  " I know a man of 14 years, weather in the body or out of the body I can't tell, was lifted  up to the third heaven."

There's other verses
one reads "we would rather be absent from the body to be present with the Lord" or words to that effect.

the point is scripture does not deny these
experiences can and do happen and often it appears that the Lord uses these experiences to reach that person or others through that experience.

I've seen the docu/movie.
I can't prove it's true or false but this NDE was much closer to the "UR God"
A gentle God that pointed to McCormmacks mistakes but no threads of torture and that kinda stuff.

Indeed a verse to think about...

How many NDE-type verses can be found in the Bible?
It would be nice to see how many are heaven and how many are hell NDEs/verses.
If there are, say, 10 heaven verses and 0 hell verses that proves something to me.
Surely 10 verses aren't a base for decent statistics but it surely points towards a certain direction.
Anyone that got a list?

Havn't been around for quite some time, but saw this thread and thought about an article I just read that speaks about this from a UR perspective (well, at least in part). You can find it here here.

What were their experiences like, Card?

:cloud9: Pretty much the "standard" fare, with the light at the end of the tunnel, and meeting a light, which they knew to be Jesus. My uncle said he heard the most beautiful choir singing he had ever heard. He died on a country road the first time, of a heart attack, and someone brought him back with CPR. Then he died again at the hospital having open heart. Interestingly, he was not our concept of saved, at the time. He said he would never fear death again, though. He didn't live too many years after that. My grandmother had open heart at age 73 and 3 days.

I think I figured out the "choir" a lot of people talk of. I saw on the news a few years back about some scientists who had some new equipment to hear sounds. They listened to crickets legs and were stunned, because at the level they were now able to hear it somehow, they heard what sounded like a symphony.

When I heard this, the scripture, "Let everything that hath breath, praise the Lord," came into my mind instantly. I think that literally everything which was made by Christ, has this breath/Spirit, and as the baptism showed it is a language of praise (Pentecost), and therefore, "reverberates" to the glory of God. Are they not all ministering spirits? My  :2c: Blessings....

Wrt your grandfather...I was wondering about his spiritual life...you answered it by saying he wasn't what we would consider saved....yet his experience was such as you describe...interesting.  Where do you think a post-mortum correction (punishment eonian) would fit with this?  His limited experience (a few minutes?) sounded more comforting than fearful...any thoughts on this, any further details to be had wrt his experience?  Very interesting, thanks!

Way back when I was in High School, my mother was stricken with cancer. After years of horrendous treatments, she had been brought home from the hospital, to die. Hospice was there. Her last moments, a little bird flew up to the window and peered in at all of us standing around her hospital bed which was in the middle of the living room. That little bird just sat there peering in at all of us, and wouldn't fly away. Just stared. Meanwhile, my mother was incoherent and mumbling and struggling, moving her head from side to side, and we knew this was it.... this was the end. All of a sudden, this great peace came over her, she stopped struggling, and she said softly, slowly and clearly with absolute childlike wonder, awe and amazement.... "Hi..Granny..!"
Then, suddenly the bird flew away, and she died at that moment. Our Granny had died 3 years before.

Never will I forget this.
The peace.... the wonder in her voice.

 :cloud9: That was something, sparrow. He is amazing in all of His ways. I lost my mother to cancer when I was in my 30's and the grief of it nearly killed me too; I don't how you made it through it in high school.  :HeartThrob:
