As far as free speech goes, this is a moderated forum. :Sparkletooth:
I'm not a Moderator, so I'm not instructing you. I just know the topic causes too much dissention, so the Mod's end up having to lock threads that have it etc. It's the only theological topic I know of that they don't want discussed here. Again, not because of the subject matter itself, but because of the problems discussing it leads to. You can talk to any member you want to about it by way of Personal Message though.

Of course, I understand. Thanks for the heads up. I realize this is a forum devoted to UR, so I will mind that I do not upset anyone.

Peace to you.

:cloud9: Sorry about that, I guess I encouraged you sharing, blindly. I've been off this board for about 6 months, and the only topics I knew of that were problems were sovereignty of God vs. free will, and any discounting the total validity of scripture. Didn't know the Trinity was THAT touchy now as well. But like Mac said, you can PM. Blessings....

fir real though, whats an unitarian?

The first time I ran across a Unitarian, he had written this:

There is at least one Unitarian Sunday school teacher here----me. My lesson last Sunday was how to survive being ridiculed in Middle School for not believing the "Jesus died for our sins." Mostly you have to be quick with your fists and, heaven forbid, NOT turn the other cheek.

Didn't look like a path I wanted to travel down personally.
I pray for the man and those kids from time to time.

hello, im unitarian aswell, in Germany it seems for me, everyone who rejects the doctrine of *******, also rejects the doctrine of hell, there must be a connection, i never met a unitarian saying he believes in hell

Arian Catholicism
Christadelphian
Christian Science
Jehovah's Witness
Mormon
Oneness Pentecostalism
Unitarianism
United Church of God

Not the sort I'd like to keep too close company with personally.
Thank goodness for Evangelical Christian Universalism, or I'd have to seriously consider dropping UR.

I think we are called "Arians", but this is not exactly accurate as I understand it. Arius beleived, correct me if I am wrong, that Jesus was "adopted" at his baptism. This is not what I believe at all.

I agree, if Jesus is God, then he is his own Father.
S

A controversial conundrum indeed.

5 For to which of the angels did He ever say,
YOU ARE MY SON,
TODAY I HAVE BEGOTTEN YOU"?
And again,
I WILL BE A FATHER TO HIM
AND HE SHALL BE A SON TO ME"?

8 But of the Son He says,
"YOUR THRONE, O GOD, IS FOREVER AND EVER,
AND THE RIGHTEOUS SCEPTER IS THE SCEPTER OF HIS KINGDOM.
YOU HAVE LOVED RIGHTEOUSNESS AND HATED LAWLESSNESS;
9 THEREFORE GOD, YOUR GOD, HAS ANOINTED YOU
WITH THE OIL OF GLADNESS ABOVE YOUR COMPANIONS."

Hebrews 1:5, 8-9 (Psalm 45:6-7)

Maybe a clue can be found in deeply studying Psalm 45 by itself. Language, context etc. Who knows?

As I understand it, there is a big difference between what I believe and what a "Unitarian Universalist" believes. In fact, I hesitate to even say I am a "biblical unitarian", because of what people think that means.

I believe God is the Father of Jesus, and Jesus is the Son of God.

Peace.

:mshock:  Reminds me of the pastor of a little Baptist congregation I used to attend.  I think the last sermon I ever heard him preach, he edified us along these lines ;  "there was a church that needed a piece of property to build on.  It was a bar, and the owner wouldn't sell it.  So the preacher/deacon (don't remember which) took the guy out in the alley and beat him up, and got the guy to give the church the property.  He topped it off with, "sometimes we need to fight for Jesus"...I'm like, "OK, I'm out'ta here"

That quote in Proverbs struck a chord in me . . .I was doing some digging around in the area of measuring rods . . .In Revelation John is instructed to measure the temple, but not the outer court . . .in Ezekiel, everything is measured . . .and the outer wall is measured with a rod that is "6" cubics long (6 being the number of man) Then I came across this in Zechariah 2 that kind of explained it for me as to why John wasn't to measure the outer court (one of several explainations).

The very last verse is especially profound to me as well.  I do love the book of Zechariah.

1I lifted up mine eyes again, and looked, and behold a man with a measuring line in his hand.

2Then said I, Whither goest thou? And he said unto me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what is the breadth thereof, and what is the length thereof.

3And, behold, the angel that talked with me went forth, and another angel went out to meet him,

4And said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein:

5 For I, saith the LORD, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her.

6Ho, ho, come forth, and flee from the land of the north, saith the LORD: for I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heaven, saith the LORD.

7Deliver thyself, O Zion, that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon.

8For thus saith the LORD of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.

9For, behold, I will shake mine hand upon them, and they shall be a spoil to their servants: and ye shall know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me.

10Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the LORD.

11And many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day, and shall be my people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto thee.

12And the LORD shall inherit Judah his portion in the holy land, and shall choose Jerusalem again.

13Be silent, O all flesh, before the LORD: for he is raised up out of his holy habitation.

Howdy!
Don't go talking about the Trinity here. Gets folks all riled up. Seriously.
But, don't throw the baby out with the bathwater either.

Uh, ok. So there is no free speach here? What are the banned topics?

Hello Bro.  Basically, sort of quickly sharing what you believe about the trinity, as a way of introduction as you did, is probably (maybe/sometimes/usually/hopefully/if it's a good day ) not a great big deal.  There are just a few topics that due to the dissension and division they've caused here have become off-limits wrt extended discussion.  This is with the direction/blessing of the site's owner, Gary Amirault.  He does want the main focus of his site to be UR, although he obviously allows quite a bit of leeway for other topics, especially as they tie into UR.  So the three really biggies are the trinity and the free will/all sovereign discussions, and the requirement of respect for scripture as being trustworthy and inspired.  That obviously does allow for translational issues, extreme variances of understanding and interpretation, and any obvious/proven tamperings with earlier manuscripts.  Other topics are moderated as they develop, with attention to holding down what would be considered inappropriate conflict and disrespect/rudeness.

Hope this helps, Js.

It does indeed help, and thank you. I shall make sure I mind the rules as I would not want to offend anyone.

Blessings and peace.

Ha!  Good luck with that one!  We're all spirits still wrapped in flesh . . being offended comes second nature . . .it's what God uses to perfect us with.  Okay, I say that tongue in cheek, but to be honest . . .any post you make always has "some" potential of someone reading it wrong due to them having a bad day, or something you purposefully wrote because "you" were having a bad day . .but the bottom line for me is . .we're all truly in this together.  And may we treat each other with the same grace and mercy that God gives to us.

And if ANYONE tries to quote me later with this . .I shall deny, deny deny!!!

I just love dancing bananas.
