Hi there,

What do you think to this quote from Job?
Is it that we make things happen, good or bad by what we think or it just seems to happen that way?
I am a person with low self esteem, who feels uncomfortable when good things happen to me, so is it my fault when bad things happen, because i think about them?
Are all those self-help gurus right then, when they say that you must think positive thoughts all the time?
If so i'm in big trouble!
Your thoughts!
Godbless

  Hi Nancy ,

I sure hope you know that God loves you sis  :HeartThrob:

and guilt and shame are two things the Lord  takes away from you when you  have a relationship with Him ,   I have been  where you are at sis , and it passed  at the time I was most miserable , but the Lord is faithful as promised  and does deliver us , from even our  thoughts that can and do drive us mad  and to an utter end  ,  you could say the Lord pickes up those tiny pieces of whats left and  re forms you into something He desires  for you to become , and it is more Like Him [Image of Christ ]

Psa 34:18 The LORD [is] nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

we have to be broken before we are  remade by Him
to me Job was learning that  with the verse you shared sis
God bless you and keep you
Jesus is the reward  !!

Not trying to make light of your situation, 'cause I've been there, and I was probably a hundred times worse off a few years ago, but Proverbs chapters 3 and 4, Matthew chapters 12 and 13, Mark 11:22-26, Colossians 3:12-17, and probably two or three dozen other passages that I could cite on this makes our words important and integral towards the thoughts that we think and the emotions that we have.  There's a lot of stuff, self esteem included, that I couldn't rise above without Joshua 1:8's "don't let the Word depart from your mouth."  It took years and years for me.  It's a process to renew your mind, to be transformed in the spirit of your mind, to bring every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, to cast every care upon Him, to humble yourself under the mighty hand of God, to become a participant in the divine nature through the promises that enable you to escape the pressures of this life, to put away a froward mouth, to put perverse lips far from you, and the hundred and fifty other ways that the Scriptures mention the life/death/mouth "establishing witness" connection.  But you've either got to break your mouth with the Word with the same effort that would be put forth in the natural with  breaking a horse, or the flesh is going to break you in ways that God will probably get the blame for when He said that life and death was in the power of the tongue and those that indulge it will eat the fruit of it.  David spoke in the Psalms about those that delighted in cursing having to wear curses as a garment.  Jesus Christ is High Priest of our confession according to Hebrews 3, and we have to hold fast our confession according to Hebrews 10.  It's not talking about a creedal statement, but it's talking about the same thing that it's talking about in 1Peter 3:10-12.
