Uh...Christmas Carolling with Christian Fundamentalists:-)

Hell is a false and horrific doctrine.  But if it's the doctrine many Christians believe, why do they hide it so often? Why not incorporate it into their songs?  Why not teach it in their churches?

A friend of mine wrote, or rewrote these a few Christmases ago.  He just felt like re-writing these Christmas Carols to put them more in line with the conservative doctrine of Hell.  And yes, he was in a bit of an ornery mood, and was even singing these while playing the music for them.  (i.e. He was singing these in between his laughs 'cause people do believe this, though they don't have the nerve to sing it to their unborn children, their littlest kids, or their dying parents/grandparents.)

I'm withholding the name of the author to protect the guilty.  He's grown since then, and I'm not sure if he'd want his name still associated with these, although, at my suggestion, he did post them all over the net when he first wrote 'em.  These are ornery as...well, you know.. :icon_jokercolor:

I can appreciate that.  Might as well preach it like it (supposedly) is.

Yeah, and one of the main roots of this is a total misunderstanding of God's justice, or what justice is as it flows from a pure Heart without condemnation and fear.

The Calvinist denominations are rooted in this misunderstanding of justice flowing from a pure Heart without condemnation and fear.  Here's some examples:

The Belgic Confession says:  We believe that all posterity of Adam, being thus fallen into perdition and ruin by the sin of our first parents, God then did manifest Himself such as He is; that is to say, merciful and just: merciful, since He delivers and preserves from this perdition all whom He, in his eternal and unchangeable counsel, of mere goodness has elected in Christ Jesus our Lord, without any respect to their works: just, in leaving others in the fall and perdition wherein they have involved themselves. (Art. 16)

...they shall see the terrible vengeance which God shall execute on the wicked...who shall be convicted by the testimony of their own consciences, and being immortal, shall be tormented in the everlasting fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels. Matthew 25:46 (Art. 37)



The Heidelberg Catechism of 1563: God is indeed merciful, but He is likewise just; wherefore His justice requires that sin, which is committed against the most high majesty of God, be also punished with extreme, that is, with everlasting punishment both of body and soul. (Q. 11)

...shall condemn all His and my enemies to everlasting condemnation, but shall take me, with all His chosen ones, to Himself, into heavenly joy and glory. (Q. 52)



Canons of the Synod of Dort of 1619: That some receive the gift of faith from God, and others do not receive it, proceeds from God's eternal decree...According to which decree He graciously softens the heart of the elect, however obstinate, and inclines them to believe; while He leaves the non-elect in His just judgment to their own wickedness and obduracy.  And herein is especially displayed the profound, the merciful, and at the same time the righteous discrimination between men, equally involved in ruin; or that decree of election and reprobation, revealed in the Word of God...(I, 6)

Election is the unchangeable purpose of God, whereby, before the foundation of the world, He has out of mere grace, according to the sovereign good pleasure of His own will, chosen...a certain number of persons to redemption in Christ...(I, 7)



Arminians perdy it all up by saying all of the above was according to the free-will of mankind.  A shell game on the blame game, but at the end of the day Arminianism wanders into the same darkness as Calvinism.

It's not Christmas, but that's okay, I can listen to it year round.  I'll probably never sing these, but, yeah, they're more in line with what's actually preached.  Oh, and the person who said, "Sounds goo to me," should learn how to take a walk in the shoes of the damned ones.  Even if their vision is clouded, could she burn them alive?  If that's her mentality, then perhaps the Christian Crusades weren't a perversion of scripture after all.
